This is an excellent family run Hotel, a jewel in Tissa.. Immaculate in every aspects, rooms, general.areas, swimming pool all spotless. Food great staff wonderful and very helpful. Jeep safari to Yala organised directly at hotel. Great day with a very experienced driver. We even found a Leopard!! Car also organised for our onward trip to Ella I was sorry to leave River Front. Dont miss an opportunity to stay here if you are in Tissa or wish to do Yala Jeep Safari👌

The location and the property itself is outstanding. It’s located in a dense jungle area off the normal road but it’s magical once you get there. Hearing the waves crashing all day long along with the birds chirping is so soothing and serene. You literally feel like you’re in a rainforest. The breakfast was good as well, they offer few set menu options which you can choose from.

Everything about this stay was exeptional from the comfort of the room to the quality of the breakfast and the cleanliness was brilliant. This was topped off by having the perfect host/owner. An exceptional family stay, in December 2024, this was a newly built facility. The family run hotel had a homely atmosphere, everyone was super friendly and polite. The owner has put a lot of thought into the layout and details of the whole hotel. The room are expansive, very comfortable and immaculately clean. The private balconies offer great views over the picturesque rice fields and beyond to the lake. The gardens are teaming with birds. The pool is well maintained, and very welcome after a long journey. The food was super fresh and very tasty, home cooked in a very clean open air kitchen. The owner arranged our Yala safari. We had a very enjoyable stay, in hide sight we should have stayed longer.

I loved everything about this place. I would like to start by commending Gayan, the host! He is probably the best and nicest host I've had in Sri Lanka. He sent me to the town FOC to get some of the best Sri Lankan food I've eaten, given me a free nature tour around the lake where we can see fruit bats and owls, arranged the safari at the most affordable rate I could find, had some of the most interesting conversations about plants, animals, Sri Lankan culture, etc. Everything in this place felt like a family home. We had tea at 4AM before the safari and was also welcomed back with a king coconut! The room was also amazingly clean, spacious, well decorated and came with an extra cooler fan because Tissa can get quite hot. I definitely recommend this place and would love to come back again!

Our stay at The Halcyon was amazing, the hotel is stunning and located on a such a beautiful unspoiled beach. My wife was not well when we first arrived and Zander (owner) and his staff when out of their way to make her feel comfortable. Breakfast was great, in fact all the food was spot on and the drink menu well thought out. We were there for the Sunday BBQ which was a real treat. We will be back 😀

This is such a special place and we loved the hotel. The staff were extremely attentive and the location is beautiful and very peaceful. We had some of the best food during our whole trip at this hotel - the chefs are amazing. We were so impressed by the attention to detail in the rooms, which were really well equipped. It was really the perfect balance - the rooms had the comfort and facilities of a much larger hotel, but with all the intimacy of a boutique experience.

After reading some reviews I was a bit scared about our stay at Leopard Nest. Fortunately unnecessarily. I think the owner of this hotel took all the comments to heart. 1. Right after we arrived the owner explained us everything, especially how to stay safe in the jungle, it was very valuable. We also received a whats up contact in case of any questions or needs. The contact was great and very fast 2. There were at least 4 people from the staff from early morning till late evening. 3. My internet from Sri Lankan mobile has a perfect signal, although I do not expect it in a jungle. There is wi fi at the reception, but I did not check it. 4. Breakfast and dinner are served, everything was delicious and so much that we could not eat it all. The dinner consisted of four courses appetizer, soup, grill and desserts. It was very nice in the middle of the jungle where only torches illuminated us. 5. There is bottled water in the room, and for dinner, if you want something else to drink, you can order it. 6. Additionally, because you have to go on safari very early in the morning, coffee and tea were waiting for us before we left, and we were given a tourist fridge full of sandwiches, eggs, fruit, cookies and water to take on safari. 7. Although the safari was organized by another company, the owner of the hotel asked us for contact to the driver to make sure everything would be on time. 8. The staff is very friendly, and everyone speaks very good English. 9. The air conditioning in the huts works very well. 10. When choosing this hotel, you have to remember that these are jungle huts and not a 5-star luxury hotel, you are close to nature here and in your room you can meet a small friendly lizard, this is an adventure and you have to be ready for it. 10.

Staying at Wild Coast Tented Lodge was truly a lifetime experience. The rooms and facilities are absolutely out of this world — they manage to perfectly blend raw jungle nature with high-end luxury. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were part of something truly special. The location is incredible — you’re literally in the jungle, surrounded by wildlife, with the sound of nature all around you. Our tented cocoon was stunning: beautifully designed, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, with attention to every little detail. What made the experience even more unforgettable was the amazing staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to accommodate any need. You can tell they genuinely care about making your stay perfect. This isn’t just a hotel stay — it’s an adventure, a retreat, and a 5-star escape all in one. I can’t recommend it enough!

Large, clean, modern rooms. Huge bathroom, with a large shower. Large balcony with a couch and glass parapet, to fully enjoy the exceptional beautiful view. Tour organization, especially the safari. Lots of cute animals on the premises (chipmunks, peacocks, land monitors, etc.) Good a la carte restaurants. Very nice beach that is (kind of) exclusive for the hotel guests. Lots of friendly staff, availabe 24/7. Nice, clean, pool area, with food and drink service. Lots of sunbeds.

Exceptional staff. So friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel special for our honeymoon and my husbands birthday. The food was delicious and the views and grounds were very peaceful and quiet. We booked a private safari with them which was great. They packed us a lunch to bring. Definitely would recommend this place!

Lots of gorgeous beaches nearby don’t stay on the main town beach. Take a bus to silent beach / Goyambokka beach / red beach / pallikudwua etc - you could walk from the town to Red beach and Pallikafwua too in 30 minutes Free sunbeds if you eat/ drink at the local beach bars at every beach

This place is amazing.

This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

Authentic family experience.

Authentic family experience. Two beaches, bird sanctuary and a fishery. Small but beautiful temple. Big rocks for line fishing. Bird watching. Relaxing. You can walk around the village, a couple of little shops. No restaurants as such. I had home cooked food from the main house.

It definitely is an experience worth trying.

It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear
