SwedenI will give this a 10/10 out of how much the owner provided for me. The view outside is amazing, just in front of the lake. So peaceful! So the room was okay. But the best thing for me was that the owner provided me a free tour around the place, watching sunset, crocodiles, bats and owls. He also took me to the atm, supermarket, and picked me up from the bus when arriving. Everything for free. And I can also recommend going with the safari that he is providing. That guide was also amazing, experienced, and affordable.

BulgariaI rarely write such long reviews, but this place is truly amazing - it is something between a 5-star hotel and a hip beach community hangout. The location beyond amazing - it is right on the beach and there is a freshwater lagoon right next to the property - you can go paddle-boarding or kayaking in the lagoon if you want, or if you prefer the ocean - go there. Or both. Getting to the hotel is fun - a very narrow road meanders through a lush forest and you think you are going to the end of the world, then you arrive at a stylish hotel with a lush garden right on the beach and a elegant stylish pool in the middle. The pool looks like an architectural accent, but it is actually a pool. The hotel is right on the beach - you can even have a table moved to the sand if you want for breakfast, lunch or dinner - or anytime actually. The food and cocktails at this hotel are like at a 5-star establishment. But the staff is friendlier:-) The menu is traditional Sri Lankan with a twist of different flavors - some European, some Malaysian, a bit of Thai and African. The food is excellent, the fish is locally sourced from the fishermen that are 50 meters away. All of the rooms face the ocean. The options are a room with your own very large balcony facing the ocean, or a ground level room with your own spacious patio facing the ocean. The beach is about a kilometer long - empty, no umbrellas, no vendors, no shacks - just fishermen going about their business. If you feel like talking to them (most barely speak English) you could. If not, just set up camp under the shade of the palm tree and you feel like on a deserted island. Once that gets old you can go back to the hotel - the food, the cocktails and the service put a 5-star establishment to shame! Zander is the most excellent and amazing host ever and has the sweet, friendly dog named Loki, who is a constant source of "cuteness" around. This is a magical place!

We were warmly welcomed with some refreshing juice and cold towels and we had a tremendously spacious, well equipped and perfectly clean room. We really enjoyed the pool area and could even rent kayaks for free for a tour at the lagoon. The breakfast was delicious and we also booked a really good massage directly at the accommodation. Would definitely come back next time!

PolandAmazing location as the property was in beach front, with a little gate giving access to the beach. Due to being low season we are the only guest but the quality of the stay was not impacted, and the host was amazing. Swimming pool is modern and it was clear even if it was just for us. The room was clean , spacious and air conditioning was powerful. We recommend the local breakfast with sea view. Lunch and dinner was not possible during our stay but host recommended us 'Priya Moon Cafe and Seafood Restaurant' located 500m away and it was so good we came back during the second night.

We took a quick R&R trip to Sri Lanka and spent 3 nights at a tea estate in Nuwara Eliya before heading to Uga Chena for another 3 nights. While the 5-star tea estate was lovely, we found ourselves wishing we had spent all 6 days at Uga Chena—it was that fantastic!

Uga Chena offers the best of both worlds: a beautiful beach and proximity to a wildlife sanctuary. What more could you ask for?
Accommodation: 10/10
The hotel is stunning with big beautiful well appointed rooms, the bed linens used are of high quality. With your full package, the rooms are always well stocked and have everything you'll need to have a comfortable stay. Every time we came back from breakfast, lunch and dinner - our rooms would have been made up! We never had to tell the reception even once that we need house-keeping! As soon as we'd step out of our rooms, it would seem that magically, little elves would go and tidy up your rooms! So that when you got back, you'd have cool, clean and refreshed rooms!
Management: 10/10
Not just the rooms though, be it the bar area, dining areas, beach and sundowner areas or even be it the walkaways to your room - all are cleaned and raked and well maintained - but never so that you feel you're in an artificially manicured place. It's all natural and beautiful! This property is extremely well-managed and maintained.
Food: 10/10
Chef Nuwan was so good - not only was our dining experience fantastic but Chef was so gracious and accommodating! You could ask for something that's off the menu and he'd whip it out for you! Everything from breakfast, to lunch, sundowners and dinners - all were fantastic!
Staff: 11/10!!!
Staff made this place so much more special! They were just fantastic! It sounds impossible, but not one staff member gave us a reason to complain! Everyone was so polite, friendly and efficient! No matter your ask, they catered to it, and that too always with a smile!

We had a great experience staying here and exploring Yala. The hotel arranged two safaris for us, and both were excellent. Our guide Sampath and driver Supoon were very knowledgeable, and thanks to their experience, we were able to see leopards on both trips. They knew how to navigate the crowds and where to go for the best wildlife sightings.
The hotel itself was lovely. We enjoyed the view of the beach from our cabin, and listening to the waves from the porch was a highlight of our stay. The property’s access to nature was excellent. The nearby lake was a prime spot for wildlife viewing. We saw crocodiles, wild boars, and elephants there. The staff, especially Gayan and Saman, made an effort to connect with us every day, ask how our day was, and point out wildlife around the property. We would recommend this place for anyone visiting Yala and looking for a peaceful stay close to nature.

My exhilarating trip to Sri Lanka was an incredible experience that will always remain in my memories. The pristine landscapes and beautiful nature of this country captured my heart. However, what made this trip even more special was our stay at Laya hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and also the place was very comfortable and quiet at night. We happened to be there during Sinhala and Tamil new year holiday, and we decided to stay an extra night to celebrate with them. We participated in their games and festivities, and it was a great new experience. We were even honored as special guests on the second night to stay in their brand new caravan. Special thanks to the hotel general manager (Mr.Wasantha) and his deputy (Mr.Dulaj) for their hospitality.

We highly recommend this beautiful place. It truly feels like home, surrounded by a friendly family and their lovely dogs, peacefully located between the river and the sea.
The cabin we booked is small and charming, perfectly adequate for the price. The outdoor seating area on the terrace is inviting. Additionally, there is warm water in the shower and a mosquito net at the bed to sleep safe from insects.
They are wonderful people with great values, and staying with them is absolutely worth it. We would have stayed longer if we hadn’t had other plans. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

The rooms were very comfortable with a great view. What i loved the most about this hotel was the staff on duty especially Angela and the service provided. Although i travelled alone, i did not feel lonely because the staff were extremely hospitable and went out of their way to make me feel at home. I had a safari tour pick up at 5am and i loved how the hotel took our needs into consideration and packed breakfasts in takeaway boxes for us to go.

Had a wonderful experience at Leopards Nest. The rooms located in the middle of the nature with such good view. Super politie staff, which arranged BBQ and bonfire for dinner the two nights during our stay. We also booked a full day Safari through the Hotel, which was also a very good experience. Our guide was nice and the hotel had prepared an amazing lunch for us. The trip to the hotel is bumpy, but a part of the experience.

The owners and staff were delightful - the service great.
The owners and staff were delightful - the service great. The cabannes were in the style of my travels 50 years ago and a great reminder of how simple life can (and should) be. For eating there is plenty of choice in the area and all easy walking but not always in 32 deg 😂

It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

This place is amazing.
This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.
A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer.
We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble.
Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery,
which we did and we're very grateful for his advice.
We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off.
Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf...
The most delicious meal it was.
We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot.
Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities.
It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

I don’t recommend Peacock Beach Resort because my experience is so bad treble staff and they don’t care the visitors they at least not gave us drinking water after so many requests
