A quiet upmarket haven. Boutique as there are only 17 rooms, all with patios or balconies. The pool is as warm as the sea and a few steps apart. The food was great, excellent service, and we spent much time on the lounges reading. I took early morning walks on the endless beach.... with nothing on it besides a local restaurant nearby and some fishermen. A perfect place for some downtime between traveling all round sri lanka. Was worth the extra cash.

This is the most beautiful hotel we have been to in Sri Lanka. The hotel is beautifully situated, right by the lake, sitting on the terrace you can watch the sunset while having a delicious dinner (the best food we have ever eaten). The hotel is decorated with taste and class, spacious rooms, with a modern but related to the place decor. The family room we occupied is basically an apartment with two separate, beautifully decorated rooms and a spacious bathroom. It is spotlessly clean and smells beautiful. Very friendly staff and a very nice and helpful owner. We regret that we could only stay one night. We recommend it, because the place is really extraordinary!

The Best Hospitality We Ever Had They were in touch with us since the day we booked their accommodation. Host picked us from bus stop when we arrived to city. In the evening owner joined with us for a evening walk. He brought us to a place to see more than thousand fruit bats in the evening by their own vehicle. On the way back we went to see a very rare owl at a secret place. They offered us all of these free of charge and when we leaving they dropped us to the bus station also. The hospitality was amazing and the best hospitality we ever had. Absolutely they are doing more than a five stars hotel. The price also very reasonable and we couldn't understand how they offer such a service for a very cheap price. For the dinner also owner dropped us to main city by their vehicle. About the room it was very clean There is a beautiful garden with lots of flowers and fishes The place is ideal for bird lovers. Located infront of a beautiful lake with beautiful flowers. Could see crocodile also in the lake. They offered us a super fresh juice when we arrived. Again a black coffee in the evening. They packed our breakfast for the safari at 4 am. It was very helpful. We did a safari with hotel. e had the best guide and driver. He gave us lots of information about the park and animals. They recommended us the full day safari and we did. It was a correct decision. We were lucky to see two leopards and all other animals. We had a very delicious Sri Lankan Rice and Curry for the lunch with fresh fruits. Unfortunately the prices of entrance tickets increased by government few months ago. But we understood it's out of control by host and safari service. Absolutely they are the best for safari. This is the best hotel and kindful hosts we alever met on our tour.

We had an unforgettable experience! The hosts were incredibly kind and friendly, truly deserving of a 10+. The room was spotless and the bed was super comfortable, ensuring a restful stay. The dinner that was included was absolutely delicious, and we savored every bite. We felt like we were in paradise during our stay, surrounded by beauty and tranquility. Everything. To start with, the property itself. Absolutely beautiful settings, pool and room. It looks and feel very luxurious and secret, perfect place to relax after a lot of travelling through Sri Lanka. Squirrels running about and lots of colorful birds. The staff truly go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and to help you with your plans. I came to Lagoon Gate to relax, but being my hyperactive self, I was longing for things to do. When asking for a bicycle I was lent one right away and when I asked to visit Mulkirigala cave temple, not only was I provided with a tuktuk and driver in the next hour but a member of staff (Shan) even came with me and I gave me lots of explanations about the temple. I was then taken on a free kayak tour on the lagoon where I could see lots of wildlife. Oh, I had some absolutely delicious seafood at their restaurant. AND one of the best massage I've had in Sri Lanka un their little massage parlor in the gardens. Kind of an endless review, and I was only there for two days ! Just go there with your eyes closed, a must stay in Sri Lanka.

We had beautiful stay at this amazing place. Personal was always here and helpful, arranged for us tuktuk and bird watching tour. The room was amazing, clean, spacious, comfortable, we were upgraded for free. Ever day nice breakfast- different options available. Long Beach with palms and minimum people. If you get behind the waves, you can swim there. But best for long walks. Few beach restaurants nearby with fresh fish. Calm and peaceful, ideal if you want to get away from the crowds and just spend time with the sea and yourself.
