One of the hidden gems of Sri Lanka! This beautiful hotel is set around a serene lake, with stunning views from the room overlooking water lilies, palm trees, and grazing buffalo. The rooms are stylishly decorated, spacious, and impeccably clean. The breakfast is fantastic, with something for everyone. Madu, the manager, is incredibly approachable and goes above and beyond to make everything possible. A truly amazing stay!

Wild culture Yala is a property worth the visit. The team led by property manager -Vassa is so warm and welcoming. The rooms are well done, the decor and the overall aesthetics of the rooms are quite well done. The food is made to order and the chef is also really good. Delicate flavors in food, highlighting the local produce and flavors. Vassa n team really went leaps and bounds to accommodate our wishes as it was our anniversary. Super clean, amazing and very attentive owner and staff and gorgeous view of the lake. The owner picked us up from the bus stop and showed us around the lakes. He is so knowledgeable about all the fauna and takes time to tell you about everything. We saw all kinds of birds, crocodiles, bats and the water buffalo. The owner showed us interesting places related to local culture and it was fascinating. The food and service were both exceptional. We did the safari tour and it was great but my favorite part of the trip was the Tissa tour by the hotel owner. Don’t miss it!

This was the best hotel I stayed in Sri lanka. We booked 2 rooms and found out the whole villa is ours. The hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. The cleanness of the rooms, size of the room amazing, location in a peaceful quiet very beautiful place, close to the river. We missed the barbecue though. But teh terrace and balcony are worth to try it.

If you are looking for a place to stay to visit Yala, THIS IS THE PLACE! Everything was perfect - from the great location overlooking the rice fields, just a short walk from the main road, offering peace and quiet. The hospitality and generosity were unparalleled! They arranged a great safari for me at a cheaper price than what can be found online and I got to see a leopard! The home-cooked dinner and breakfast were better than most restaurants! The owner even drove me to the bus stop nearby! I wish I could have stayed longer as this was truly a breath of fresh air!

    Gorgeous location tucked away on a private chunk of land connected to Yala park. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to make sure you are safe and have everything you need. I can’t say enough about the food! We only stayed for one night as we were moving quickly between locations while there, but should have booked minimum 2 nights. Would be perfect location for a honeymoon. Amenities are out of this world. Our guide for the safari was very informative and easy to chat with. I was happy to hear that the company provides the guides who can explain the animals in English, but hire jeeps and drivers from the local villages to distribute the benefits of the tourism dollars around. Would 100% stay again and highly recommend.

    The location is one of a kind. After we switched into a 4x4 we traveled down a bumpy track to the beautiful location amongst the trees and in the middle of the forest. Staff were very helpful getting our bags up to the tree house. The location isn’t for everyone as it’s fairly remote but very close to yala national park. Food at the hotel was great. On the evening we had a BBQ that was outside in a candle lit location. Food was good and service great. The accommodation is amazing but obviously this is glamping and so we had a lizard or two surprise us but was definitely part of the fun. The safari organised by the team was great. Charging around the park in a jeep looking at all the animals was fantastic. Great stay

    We loved the location of this hotel. It was beautiful. Our main purpose was to go for Safari, and this hotel is perfectly located from Yala National Park. They even packed us breakfast at 5am, so we can take it with us to Safari. We spent an afternoon at the pool, (and had it all to ourselves which was also a bonus). The food was great, and we had the buffet there. The staff were all amazing. Everyone that worked there, were quite young, but incredibly professional, polite and kind, and they all really went out of their way to help us.

It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover.     Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

    This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

    We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6.

    We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

    The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari.

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

    We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and its beautiful surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations. We took lots of photos & are sharing them with friends. The restaurants,Roof bar,Spa's and the pool side and pool is world class with out doubt! The service was outstanding, and that is something that can really make or break a vacation. Congratulations to the Super Proactive General Manager Mr Krishanta Damunupola and his team members to include Mr Seeman and Miss Sandani(Intern) for being so accommodating at all times with oodles of dedication. We also especially liked the super-comfy room with the balcony, bed linens which were very high quality, and felt so good to slip into each night. Thanks so much for a lovely visit.We'll be singing your praises for a long time. Thanks!
