Without giving it any thought, I reserved a room for the night when I noticed how close they were to the sea. We left Riga and drove there right away, taking about an hour. We hurried to the beach after arriving, sunscreen and towels in hand. After basking in the sun for a few hours, we decided to head over to the main street, which is about a 10-minute walk away, because we were craving smoked fish. There, we discovered a place that sells local smoked fish of all kinds, including smoked eel. We returned to our bungalow oasis with our delicacies and drinks, and we dined on our balcony with a view of the lovely garden. They have the biggest jasmine bush I have ever seen, and there are plenty more bushes, ferns, and shrubs to test your botanical knowledge. Find the vinegar tree, if you can! The room was warm and cozy. We weren't expecting to see a TV with many sports and movie channels. Even high-end hotels don't usually have sports channels available. Although we could have used a few more pillows, I thought the bed was comfortable. Similar to windows in America, these windows also have screens on them. We kept the screened windows open at night to enjoy the cool sea breeze, and I didn't even get bit by a mosquito while I was there. The blackout window shades were a real bonus, as it gets light outside at 4:00 AM. The following morning, after putting on my hometown Cleveland Cavaliers hoodie, I made coffee and turned on the TV. I couldn't believe that the Cleveland Cavaliers were playing Orlando! Who could have imagined that I could have breakfast and watch an NBA game? We loved our stay overall, and the room was well worth it. We sat on the balcony for hours on end, taking in the sound of the sea and listening to birds singing in the garden. This is a great spot for a romantic getaway, a family trip to the beach, or a trip to have a barbecue in the garden.Guest review byEriksUnited States

Foot shower on the beach ramp in order to get rid of the sand (very important) Very convenient bicycle rental service. I went twice wile on my trip. Lots of lovely restaurants, bubs and shops to explore for all liking. We visited off season so it was nice and quiet with only a few guests in our hotel and Cape Kolka, nature trails, etc were not busy Since it is off season, it was difficult to get dinner as most restaurants and pubs were closed. Have been there probably 5 times, different properties and not always staying the night, sometimes just for a walk, sometimes for lunch, sometimes for the beach or for forest walk. Lilaste is for those who appreciate nature and don't want the pretentious wannabe posh style of Jurmala, but instead just to relax and feel nature and tranquility around you. It is a cute and charming North Vidzeme seaside town just on the very border with Estonia. A lot of pine trees, fresh air, sea, historical houses and very few people. Stroll around the town and you will see that almost each stone, house and corner have something to say about the amazing history of Ainazi being the center for the sailor education in the past. The nature there is amazing - a lot of trails to explore. It is easy to reach Ainazi by public transport from Riga and other Vidzeme's towns. It's off the main road.
It's off the main road. Not far from sea side, Akvaparks and airport as well as capital Riga. Brivkalni had some games to play (ping pong and novus table) have a playground for younger kids. A quiet place, close to the Estonian boarder and sea. Out of season you can be the only persons walking along the beach. Good for walking and right on the long distance Baltic Way walking route.
