A Tropical Jewel
Langkawi, as known as the jewel of Kedah, is the largest island in an archipelagio of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea. And a gem it certainly is, with lush scenery ranging from rice fields and rainforests to leaning palms on tropical beaches.
Of course, it’s the beaches that draw most visitors. Housing a good number of Langkawi hotels, Patai Cenang has the longest and most developed beach, and good nightlife. Neighbouring Pantai Tengah is more peaceful and a popular choice for families.
Langkawi Airport in the west is closest to Padang Matsirat. Just around the coast is the more secluded Burau Bay. The Telaga Tujuh waterfalls are nearby, and just north of its curving beach is the Langkawi Cable Car which travels into the heart of the rainforest, where the Sky Bridge provides amazing views.
Another sleepy beach is the northern Jalan Datai, home to a crocodile park. To the west Tanjung Rhu has one of the most scenic beaches, with bulbous, offshore islands reminiscent of many an action movie.
On the south of this duty-free island is the capital Kuah, whose most recognisable feature is the large eagle statue overlooking its harbour towards the islands beyond. This town has the largest concentration of apartments, motels and hotels in Langkawi on Booking.com.

The hotel is spotlessly clean and well-maintained. Its location is absolutely stunning — right on the oceanfront, with views of yachts and a peaceful marina. It’s a quiet, serene place, perfect for relaxing and recharging. I had a room with a sea view, and every morning and evening I enjoyed the breathtaking scenery of the ocean and nearby beaches. It was truly magical and one of the highlights of my stay. The breakfast really surprised me — in a good way! There were four different cuisines to choose from: Malaysian, European, Indian, and Chinese, plus a buffet. For a small additional fee (around 45 MYR), you can enjoy a rich, delicious breakfast. I especially loved the meat dishes — the beef sausages and goulash were absolutely delicious. The local pastries were also fresh and tasty. Even though the coffee was from a machine, it was surprisingly good! In the evenings, the hotel offers live entertainment. One night, I even found myself dancing to my favorite songs being performed live — the atmosphere was so joyful and fun. The staff deserves a special mention. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always smiling. Since I speak Indonesian (which is quite similar to Malay), it was very easy to communicate, and I truly felt at home thanks to their warmth and hospitality. There’s also a fantastic infinity pool where I spent a lot of time, and a great restaurant that stays open late. This is a really small luxury family hotel. The hotel is built in a beautiful European style with a courtyard. The room is spacious and very cozy. The staff is responsive, friendly and always ready to help. I would especially like to note the breakfasts with a variety of dishes of Malaysian, Indian, European and Asian cuisine. Also for breakfast you are brought a menu, you can choose a dish from it and it will be cooked and brought to you for free. There is a separate station with tea and coffee where they prepare excellent hot drinks such as Teh tarik. The hotel is small but at the same time people are accommodated by the pool and do not interfere with each other. There were things in the apartment that did not work and we had a booking for 5 adults but there were only two coffee cups, four chairs. Malaysia itself is built on tourism use, I didnt like the fact that you have to pay to use bathrooms specially in touristic areas where you will spend already inside as there is food, shops and activities, and also you have to pay for a bathroom and extra for tissue. which made it a struggle if you walk with no money. most of the adventures are not priced you are given a different price and every tourist is given a different price, and the staff claim they dont know if you ask any question that would make them not profit. overall its a very beautiful city, but it is not a place I would go to again.Guest review byFadwaNayelEgypt - 10.0

Its a sleepy place, not a party zone like pantai cenang. Its a place to connect with nature and rest, just afew food places nearby, all of which are good, lovely spot for sunset watching.
