United StatesNewly built & open since September, 2022, this hotel was most notable for its very contemporary decor and amenities, such as a heated bathroom floor, heated bathroom towels, large shower stall, water conserving bathroom faucet, 4 USB charging outlets in the room (2 at the bedside), extremely comfortable king sized bed, phenomenal room views of Lake Tekapo and its surrounding snow-capped mountains, not to also mention the complimentary milk & coffee for the room. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful & professional.

excellent pristine clean accommodation, very warm, large rooms, wonderful king bed & parking right out the front of the room. The staff were just lovely, friendly and accommodating as well. Establishment is close to the town centre & walking distance to restaurants etc. We would love to stay again in the future

We used Geraldine as a stopover on trip back up the island as crossing from west to east coast and it was perfect, it’s a very good location for the town and the staff were super friendly, the unit was spotless and bed very comfortable and parking right outside

A great place to stay at in a very lovely town. The room was cozy, clean and spacious. The kitchen well equipped. Everything was thought after. I took a stroll in the street where the motel stands, worth to see the turn of the color of the trees.

The room was very cleaned and organized.
Even though it wasn’t a time to use the laundry, he allowed to us to use it for us.
If you are looking for the place to stay, I would strongly recommend here.

Loved our stay here a perfect stop on our trip sadly it was only for one night but that doesn't mean we wont be back in the future.

The footbridge and the cute lil church were stunning...
The footbridge and the cute lil church were stunning features that I always come back to every time I get a quick visit at the Mackenzie. The main character was the icey blue Tekapo lake with snow capped southern alps as a beautiful backdrop. Enjoyed our minced pies and coffee over at Greedy Cow Cafe for breakfast. Such a dreamy place indeed!

We were travelling on to another destination so had only planned to stay 1 night. Geraldine is a lovely township. Worth a visit. The Barkers shop is a must. The café is superb. Plenty of other excellent places to eat. Everything pretty much within walking distance.

The bakehouse pies are worth queueing for. There are a couple of nice shops - not much else there although you could visit the nearby hamlets which looked to have some interesting features.
We tried to walk along the river but the path was quite overgrown.

Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo. Has been refurbished and had everything we needed. Shower was great & beds were very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being near main road. Host was friendly & welcoming. Maybe a little small for more than 2 or 3 people or for more than a couple of nights. Travellers need to bring all food etc as no shops in settlement.

I have been Late Tekapo 3 times, it is more expensive than...
I have been Late Tekapo 3 times, it is more expensive than it was. My recommendation is, stargazing is the only reason to make you stay in Lake Tekapo. Otherwise you could find a better and less expensive accomodation nearby.

Geraldine is a pleasant place to stop overnight on your way to Christchurch or Tekapo. There are a lot of facilities for a small town.
We had a nice brunch at Verde which I can recommend for it's nice food and surroundings.

The location worked out for our travel arrangements. It was different and the owners were hard working and was a good overnight stopover. A restaurant/hotel was located 6 mins up the road and a little general store across road with a bit of history and garden furniture to see.

Lake Tekapo is a beautiful place to visit.
The water is bright blue, and you can still see snowy mountains all around in October. The Church of the Good Shepherd is small but very famous and great for photos. At night, the stars are amazing because the sky is so clear. You can also enjoy walking around the small town and take in the breathtaking views from the top of Mt John. It’s a quiet and relaxing place — perfect for a short trip.

Geraldine is an attractive little town and a great place to stay. It has interesting shops and restaurants. Grandpa's Toys is a great wee toy shop. Verde is a lovely place for lunch and breakfast. The Village Inn is a warm, friendly place for dinner. They have a new Thai restaurant, a very good Indian, and Barkers, where you can have breakfast and lunch and buy their great food products. There is also a lovely little cafe up in Woodbury. Woodbury also has a beautiful church.
