- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 237 reviewsThis place is truly special and fully conveys the magic of Azorean tranquility, comfort, and harmony with nature. We spent a few days here in February during the worst weather, but we felt warm and cozy in our tent thanks to the lovely fireplace and electric heater. The hosts, Pedro and Antónia, are incredibly warm, hardworking, and hospitable people. A wonderful breakfast made from local products is kindly left in a basket on your porch, allowing you to sleep in without worrying about missing it. I could go on and on about this place, but the best way to experience it is to stay for at least three days. Highly recommended!Guest review byOleksandrPortugal
- From US$112.55 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 118 reviewsAbsolutely fantastic from start to finish. Very nice property with amazing and enormous gardens and fields. Beautifully decorated rooms and multiple common areas. Delicious breakfast with fresh fruits from the garden. Very friendly and attentive owner and staff. The owner, Francisco, was very very kind and took us for a tour on his property, taking time to explain all the plants and share stories. Last but not least, the friendly dog accompanied on the beautiful walk that starts from the property and took very good care of us 😊Guest review byVincentAustria
- From US$91.33 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 416 reviewsWe loved our three day stay here. Very professional and friendly staff with a delicious breakfast buffet. The view from our window overlooking the marina and the mountain on the Island of Pico was stunning. Appreciated the underground parking and easy access. Loved the first floor lounge allowing a quiet and comfortable location to read in the early morning so as not to disturb my sleeping wife. Beautiful sunrise there. Location was ideal for hiking to the beach and enjoying the local restaurants.Guest review byWilliamUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 52 reviewsNuno welcomed us very warmly, he showed us all the facilities in the house, and there was even a small welcome gift that made our early arrival better. The house is very well equipped, we even had barbecue and fireplace for us to use. We'll definitely come back to Casa do Capelo and we warmly recommend it to our friends.Guest review byAmaliaPoland

Horta is a fabulous town, friendly people, nice restaurants and pedarias and shops in and around the Main Street Our favorite place to eat was a fab resteraunt overlooking the ocean Praia do a Almoxarife. Lovely harbor with interesting paintings from passing sailors. Porto Pim Beach close by. Probably best to get a hire car to see all the lovely spots around the island (quite expensive) although the local buses are pretty good too. Plenty of walking/hiking trails especially the walk around the rim of Caldeira e Capelinhos. Lots of amazing view points and botanical gardensGuest review byJOHNUnited Kingdom - 10.0

My stay there was great, I especially appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the host. The place is perfect if you have to catch a morning flight since it is just opposite the airport, also bus station is just across the street. However, it is not very easily accessible from Horta if you don't have your car; the public transport by bus is limited on weekends, even during the week the bus rides only few times a day, Besides one restaurant 1km away, there are also no other places to eat nearby. But the nature around is amazing and place is very nice, the rooms very comfortable and clean and breakfast is good.Guest review byMonikaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Loved that the host provided some basic supplies - coffee, milk, fresh eggs, homemade jam, olive oil. The hot water was plentiful. It was great to have a washing machine. But the view is the best selling point!Guest review byAnneCanada - 10.0

We went on a full day tour of Faial with Andre at Visitfaial. This let us see all the sites. Faial is a beautiful island and I wish we had more time there. Horta is more of a town than a city, size wise. It has a big marina and this was buzzing with lots to look at including some big yachts. There are some busy bars and restaurants which are fun to visit although we preferred the quieter ones in Porto Pim Bay Area. Genuino has lots of memorabilia from the owner’s sailing adventures. The tuna steaks were massive. We had a table upstairs at window with lovely views across the bay. Taberna de Pim was also good and we were able to eat outside on the bay.Guest review byPaulineUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We loved Varadouro.
We loved Varadouro. We stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed longer to relax by the pools and swimming inlet. These swimming areas are located amongst the volcanic rock and are just amazing. The area is very relaxing, the sea could be heard from our accommodation. We had a hire car, which is needed as the area is remote. There are a few restaurants and cafes nearby.Guest review byFionaIreland - 10.0
What I love about Horta is that you feel like you are...
What I love about Horta is that you feel like you are entering an entirely different culture and way of living. I do not like traveling to areas where I feel it is American culture in a foreign place. If I go again I would definitely make more of an effort in learning the language enough to carry on small conversations. Breakfast was a culture shock for me. I am used to protein shakes and toast in the morning. They do not eat breakfast that way. There was only one place that served omlettes or eggs but even there it was not close enough to an American breakfast. Lunch and dinner were fine. If you will be there for a week or more I highly suggest you go to the grocery store for breakfast items like milk, cereal, bread etc. The pastries at the various bakeries are to die for. I have put on weight despite heavy walking.Guest review byAmyUnited States
