The owners are still applying improvements, with great style and care. Rest assured on a very, very comfortable and spacious bed, like the room. Private bathroom with all the details, even a complimentary bathrobe. The wifi is good too. Special mention to the restaurant Dinner; the chef makes it with great affection. This time we arrived late, and the self-check-in system was a great implementation, too. Anyway, thank you very much. I will keep repeating.

A Truly Magical Stay
My stay at Valverde Palácio de Seteais was absolutely amazing. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere, elegance, and charm of the palace made it feel like a step back in time — in the best way possible. The setting is breathtaking, with stunning views and beautifully preserved architecture.
What truly made the experience unforgettable was the exceptional staff. Every member of the team was warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make me feel at home. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality added a personal touch that made all the difference.
It was my second time staying here and I can’t recommend this place enough — it’s a perfect blend of history, luxury, and heartfelt service.

The garden is amazing! Breakfast is great, room big and comfortable, views nice from every single spot. Location is good - about 5 minutes to Castelo dos Mouros (the lowest point, you still need at least half an hour to get to the castle entrance). It is in a very peaceful area, the place is like out of a fairytale!
Side note: I thought we didn't have hot water at first - if that happens let it run for a few minutes, it will probably solve the issue.

The historic building and furnishings were beautiful and inviting. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They were also able to provide information about the town and area that is not easily found because most of the staff live nearby but also have been working for the hotel for decades. The room was magical, with a balcony overlooking the ravine and at least 2 castles. The experience was surreal.

The property was a quiet, beautiful oasis in the midst of a crowded, touristy town.
We had a room in the Annex and the views were amazing, the flowering morning glory and the landscaping were great to wake up to every morning. The staff was super helpful. The breakfast was excellent.

What a stunning place! We had a very special stay for five nights and enjoyed it a lot. The view is just amazing and the hotel itself is designed perfectly. If you want to have a laid-back and relaxing holiday, then this is the place. And it has its own wine!

Sintra is a magical place and the best way to view it is by...
Sintra is a magical place and the best way to view it is by walking. It is a shame that so many tuk-tuks and other ride share vehicles are allowed to park all around the already busy entrances to the historic sights. Hopefully future discussions about transportation in this UNESCO World Heritage site will solve this problem. Our group of six adults stayed for two nights at an historic Quinta and we were able to view the castle in the evening with special lighting. We were pleasantly surprised how good the weather was for our mid October visit, it was sunny and 23ºC during the day and very pleasant in the evening.

Good beaches and amenities within walking distance. Handy to Sintra, surrounding areas and Lisbon, particularly if you have a car, but public transport options were available too.
Colares was relatively quiet compared to Sintra and it was great to escape the hustle and bustle. It a beautiful location, set amongst the tress and tends to be a little cooler than Lisbon, so was a very comfortable temperature, even in the height of summer.

Terrugem is a great base if you have a car, with Cascais just 25 minutes away, Lisbon 30 minutes, and Sintra only 20 minutes. For those without a car, Bolt taxis are very affordable and easy to use. Nazaré is about 1.5 hours away, and on the way, it is well worth stopping at Óbidos, which is a beautiful historic town.
A general note about Portugal: the people are very friendly and welcoming. Driving here was also a pleasure – roads were good, traffic was manageable, and drivers were respectful of the rules.

Having been here before, I know the beauty of this place, but because of the high parking rates, not being able to reach most of the castles/palaces by car(closed roads), paying eur 13,50 per day for a bus fare, the extreme business (overcrowded) and the high prices for food and drinks, overshadowed the beauty this place had offered me in the past. Also a turism office that could not produce a city map(?) did not help.
Tip: do not go here by car!

This location was great.
This location was great. You can choose to stay in the town and enjoy the beach, restaurants, etc or venture to other nearby attractions like Praia Grande & Arribas Saltwater Pool, Azenhas do Mar pool, or take the trolly (or drive) to Sintra and other towns in the area.
My young kids and I enjoyed going to the beach around sunset/low tide to walk the beach, enjoy the small pools of water, etc.

Thank you to Katarina and her husband for the cosy accommodation! All the amenities are in the house. This is a great place for a quiet holiday. Nearby are the historical sites in Sintra, the Atlantic coast, great seafood restaurants. I recommend this place for an unforgettable holiday.

It is a lovely area to visit and there is a good choice of places to eat. Using the train to get there from the airport is easy and cheap.
I was not there as a tourist myself but to take part in orienteering races, access to the train station was very helpful for getting to my running places.
