The hotel is walking distance from the Politechnic University campus, and there are some very cosy restaurants in the area. Dinner and breakfast excellent. finish and quality of property first rate and a tribute to Christina and Antonio who, together with their son Eduardo, make excellent hosts. Only booked one night but would have stayed longer if itinary allowed. Plenty of free parking around as hotel is part of a small village. I classified location as good only because access roads are fairly precipitous. Otherwise location is superb. Eduardo provided transport to a local quinta for a visit and tasting at no extra cost. A true family business who cares!

The pictures do not do it justice. This property and the surrounding area was JAW DROPPING! I saw one of the best sunsets of my life right from my room. The sun dipped behind the mountains bathing the surrounding valley and vineyards in mango orange, it was absolutely beautiful. The quinta itself was so lovely with lots of walkways to take in the fresh air and the surrounding landscape. There was a little waterfall, a lake, and some swings around the property. This is a place you go to relax and refresh your mind. The size of the room was really nice and breakfast had plenty of options. The restaurant is also really good! I had a wonderful steak with some of the wine from the quinta. And I loved the wine so much I bought bottles for loved ones. Everything was really chic and beautiful. I would definitely come back!

One of the best experiences so far! A nice boutique Hotel (5 rooms only) within the vineyards. Great pool, cozy interior. The managing lady was really kind and helpful. I love Chaves, small ancient town which has a river going through it with its own Roman bridge going across it… wonderful restaurants, the food is amazing here in the north of Portugal! Amazing places to stay with fabulous Portuguese restaurants! You’re also close to one of the nicest wine regions in the world! If you drive go trough Régua up the Douro where the grapes are grown! Unbelievable gorgeous, truly stunning

Our host Margarida met us at the door and showed us our rooms while explaining everything we needed to know about our stay. The large bedrooms had stunning views, soft beds and big toilet/showers. Every morning the breakfast buffet offered a variety of fresh food with local and homemade treats. Margarida would chat with us and the other guests, offering ideas and suggestions for places to see, eat and things to experience. The grounds are beautiful with flowers, fruit trees, pools and terraces. Luis hosted a fun and insightful tour and wine tasting of his own products, something I will recommend experiencing. The Casa is located peacefully (sounds from the highway were minimal) and the Douro valley itself offers so many stunning views. An amazing place to slow down and truly relax. During our stay my dad lost his credit card and the staff managed to locate it at a nearby town and mailed it home to us. While in Portugal we stayed in four places, and Casa Do Romezal was by far the best. My parents and I would love to return and will warmly recommend it to friends and family :) Plus they have the sweetest cats (from a dog person)

Bustling city with plenty of cafes and eateries, slightly off the usual tourist trail. The Castelo de Braganca was well worth a visit. We thought the prices in the city were very reasonable. Watch out if you are using an old satnav - we were directed up a very steep, narrow street which turned out to be a dead end. The reversing down the cobbles and a 37-point turn were a challenge!

Quaint little town on the Doura Valley. It's built on a fairly steep hill, so bring your walking shoes! Good choice of restaurants (although check opening times). Lots of river based attractions (cruises) along with wine (port) tasting. If you don't like port or watery things avoid.

Vila Real is a nice town with all factilities available, some nice and affordabled places to eat or have a drink. It is within 30 minutes of driving from the Douro valley. A great ride will bring you in the wineries over there. Be prepared that wine tasting in the Douro valley is overpriced.

Very interesting town. Amazing views. Good for a couple of days break. Hot in the summer, but I imagine there are some lovely walks in cooler weather. Lots of shops with bargain priced quality bedding and towels if you want to stock up. Quite hilly, so keeps you fit.

This is a great place to spend the best time in the Douro Valley and enjoy the surroundings with the best views, terrace vineyards and wineries. The outdoor pool attracts you even more, especially if you have a teenager who wants to spend time around the pool / beach.

Got to Moncorvo visit the church and eat at restaurant Lagar. Next day go to Foz do Sabor and eat "peixinhos do rio" at a local restaurant. Then go to Horta da Vilarica, try to find out where the Padaria is and buy the local bread - out of this world. In Foz Coa you need to see the prehistoric rock-art sites in the Coa Valley - you have never seen anything like that. And drink the local wine, eat the local cheeses, try the local sausages and enjoy the friendly people. You'll not regret it.

The bridge that dates from Roman times and is normally shown...

The bridge that dates from Roman times and is normally shown in photos is the interesting bit of Chaves. The rest is tired and seems to have suffered economically. The last place we stayed was Guimares. I'd stay 2 days there and not stay in Chaves next time. That said, apparently there are quite a lot of historical Catholic things here, but not my scene at all.
