The walk around the lake is great to do either way.
The walk around the lake is great to do either way. A visit to the castle is a must. Vintgar Gorge is stunning and the walk back into Bled is easy to follow. Definitely visit Bohinj area whilst staying in Bled. You can’t cycle around the lake however the walk is lovely and you can get the electric boat back across the lake as an option. Kranjska Gora is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts such as trail runners like us. We visited to run the UTMB Julian Alps in September so the atmosphere was buzzing. We stayed in Bled for a couple of days before moving to Lake Bohinj, on reflection, we preferred Lake Bohinj to Bled, it was less busy, quieter, and if we wanted was in each reach of Bled for a visit. Kobarid is a nice little town situated on Soča river between Tolmin and Bovec. There are numerous possibilities of outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, paragliding, kayaking or simply taking a dip in stunningly turquoise Soča. The Tolmin Gorge is an absolute must do. We also climbed the hill up to the Kozlov Rob castle, but a portion of the castle was blocked off, which was a disappointment. A much better use of our time would have been to drive up sooner to Kolovrat Museum of the First World War; which isn't a museum, but a fascinating preservation of WW 1 bunkers and some of the most spectacular views of mountains and sea you will experience while in Slovenia.
