Poltava is a medium-sized city.
Poltava is a medium-sized city. It doesn't boast incredible architecture, fascinating buildings or unbelievable food. I ended up here by pure chance, but it turned out to be a pleasant one. The people here are very hospitable and kind. There are places with great food, there are cinemas and a couple of museums. But I don't see the point of staying longer than 3-4 days. Whether I would come back here again just for tourism is unlikely. Poltava is more valuable to me because of its historical significance, but no more. It's a great small city with parks, the Dnipro river with a beach, good restaurants and overall safe. People there have a small town attitude and mostly honest. You don't find the rudeness you encounter in some places in the U.S. or other parts of the world. The streets are another story with many potholes, some huge, so if you're driving be very careful and of course your driving skills at avoiding potholes will improve greatly! People overall like the rest of Ukraine are serious but kind, respectful and peaceful. Once you get to know them they are very friendly and talkative. I had to use a good translation App because it is not easy to find anyone who speaks any English and I'm still in my early stages of learning Ukranian.Guest review byCarlosUnited States
