They gave us a room on the top floor (there's an elevator) and it was different but better than on the pictures. Very spacious, large build-in closet with lockable door, a vanity and a big window. Private bathroom was also perfectly clean. It didn't have the minifridge and kettle the deluxe room promised but there was a shared kitchen and seating on our floor (shared between just 3 rooms I think) which had a drinking water dispenser for cold and hot water. I'm sure if we needed to put somehing in a fridge, reception would help. Receptionists, except for one lady, don't speak english but using Google Translate was easy. We got our laundry done by them. You can purchase necessities and coffee at the reception, a lot of cafes and some local eateries nearby. Overall, amazing value for money!

2 owner's daughters who hold hospitality degree training in HCM City have done more than one ask for, i.e. the elder one provided our request for extra table for writing, refrigerator etc. The youngest one hand written a list of restaurants and places of attractions in neat and bold characters. Mum rushed out for cold beer end of day... It's easily seen those small to obvious act of services are rarely found these days on the global route! It's not those star-rated standard to please you, but rather continuous act of attention to details, un hesitated flow of responses and services, even though it's 1.6 km walk uphill to nearest spot of F & B (where Grab chips in to travel conveniently!), it's indeed and truly a Real Jem hidden in the sea of straw! When in future permittable, upgrade and provide further more information also catering to foreign tourists, like tourist maps and information, more coat hangers, extra storage space in bathroom, it'd surely grow into a mature state of hotel business.

A highland city in an area which grows coffee beans, cashews...

A highland city in an area which grows coffee beans, cashews and durian fruit. There are a number of attractions such as The World Coffee Centre, a local museum, and the Dray Nur waterfall park. It is easy to get around the city as there are plenty of Grab vehicles and private drivers with whom you can negotiate trips and sight seeing tours. There are many nice Vietnamese resturants for you to explore. The 3 days we spent here, and is probably the right amount of time needed for a visit. Accommodation varies a lot in value and services so it is worth while to spend a little time researching your options.

After 20 years, coming back here feels very different.

After 20 years, coming back here feels very different. So many things have changed. Dray Sap and Dray Nur waterfalls don’t look as beautiful as before. They were more natural and impressive in the past. But the center of Buon Ma Thuot is much more developed now. It’s easy to find anything you need—food, drinks, shops, or services. One surprise is the food prices. They are not cheap anymore, especially in busy areas!

Everything is very remote and you definitely need a rental...

Everything is very remote and you definitely need a rental car or scooter. Public busses are not reliable and with Grab everything is still kinda pricey. Supposedly Buon ma Thuot is great for coffee but every coffee we had was worse than the one before. Yok Don seems to be a ripoff so do not come here for that.
