- From US$802.08 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 99 reviewsAmakhala consists of several old farms which decided to give up farming and start as a game lodge (years back). So nature reconquered the plantations and ecologists supervise the balance of animals. Leeuwenbosch is one of these old farms. We did two game drives (afternoon and early morning) which are included in the room tariff. Ranger Eubut is phenomenal, he shares many information about animal and plants and their habitat. We saw Cheetas, Elephants, Black Rhinos, Hippos and all kinds of Antilopes, Birds and small animals. Amazing! Food (which is all inclusive) was excellent and served by extremely friendly personnel. Extra point: there is a pub where you can sit with other guests before / after evening dinner and have a drink and chat. Bottom line: Very pleasant stay, very nice game experience. Recommendation!Guest review byGerdKrügerGermany
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.9Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 115 reviewsUnreal experience! HillsNek will make you feel in the heart of nature while offering you the best service and luxurious feeling. Having only 4 lodges, the whole experience felt very personal and private while at the same time enjoying the feeling of community with the other guests during game drives and meals. Our ranger Tim did his best to show us everything we wanted to see and more while making us feel safe and sharing great stories. Renzo and the staff made sure to be ahead of every of our needs. We even had the elephants coming to drink in the pool twice during our stay - it's not just great marketing ;)Guest review byThibaultNetherlands
- From US$1,483.37 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 311 reviewsOur three days at Bush Lodge were amazing. The accommodation was perfect (we appreciated the private plunge pool and loved the large comfortable bed). The meals varied and delicious. Most of all were the six game drives with James (JD) at the helm. We saw a wide variety of animals including 4 of the Big 5. Thanks to a wonderful team for making our little vacation memorable.Guest review byCraigBelgium
- From US$1,502.08 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 55 reviewsEVERYTHING, the staff Stanley the ranger was amazing, as were all the rest of the staff. The animals, food, accommodation, our fabulous welcome. It was our first visit to SA and a game reserve it was amazing. The highlight of our 3 week holiday was meeting Tahboh ( sorry if not correct spelling) of the orphaned cheetah. One of the most amazing things I’ve done.Guest review byJanUnited Kingdom

The staff at Amakhala were very friendly and helpful.
The staff at Amakhala were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. the room was large and when you came back after the second safari they had turned the lights on. folded down the beds and put the heating on. That is a really great touch from the staff. The Park Rangers were very good. We had Jessie and he was very informative and had a great sense of humour. He really did his best to find the animals we all wanted to see and made it a special experience.Guest review byHuwUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We did an afternoon Giraffe walk through Bellevue Lodge and it was amazing - we were taken on a safari vehicle onto a game reserve and from there had to find the grazing giraffe. Once we spotted them, we drove close by and then got out of the vehicle to walk close (but not too close) to the giraffe to watch them eat their dinner. It was a lovely experience, and our guide Stephen was knowledgeable and friendly, answering all our questions. We stayed at the Bellevue Lodge for 1 night, it was a lovely small property with friendly staff.Guest review bySusanSwitzerland - 10.0

This was a new listing , and we were the first guests, LUCKY US!! The facilities offered are too many to mention. An updated kitchen with everything that opens and closes and more. Filter water on tap, a wine fridge, every spice that you can imagine. If you have forgotten anything at home, no stress they have it. A beautiful, clean, large family home. The beds are comfortable, shower pressure is great, wifi, dstv and views from every bedroom. Our host Larraine was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. This gem is a true home from homeGuest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Old style of buildings but in the based in the nature.
Old style of buildings but in the based in the nature. Super bedroom and in the morning all kind of animals where in front of your room. Also the Akmala Game reserve tour is highly recommendable because we saw so many wild animals (lions, rhino's, cheetahs, secretary bird,...) The dinner in the lodge was superb.Guest review byBENNYSlovenia - 10.0

Amakhala Game Reserve is a haven for wild animals and a brilliant place for a safari. Many of the animals used to roam the land 100 years ago before the land was used for farming. In the early 2000's the land was returned to its natural habitat and the animals reintroduced, with the aim of conservation and breeding of endangered species. As it is in a malaria-free area, it is the perfect location for a safari for people who get bitten by mozzies! There were only a few jeeps out on drives at any time, so you rarely come across other people. There are several lodges in the reserve to choose as your base (we stayed at Safari Lodge, which was brilliant).Guest review byGaryUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The whole experience was amazing.
The whole experience was amazing. Difficult to put into words. Spectacular views from the lodge, very knowledgeable and professional rangers, great food, extremely friendly atmosphere, very thoughtful touches (like running a bubble bath on return from game drive), wonderful decor.Guest review byMuttlichUnited Kingdom
