Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I loved Puerto Limon, is everything you would like to have as a traveler, big room with good bed, lighting and bathroom, combined with a good location, also staff very friendly. The place has a good vibe.

GermanyThe kitchen is very poorly staffed. And what is in there is falling out in pieces, people steal your food from the fridge and the bedrooms have some bits of mold.
Well located and close to many of the main tourist attractions

ColombiaIf you stay in the 3rd floor you will have to carry the bags by stairs. There are not elevator s. There could be some noice from the street but nothing that bad at all. There are smoking areas inside the building that are not enclosed and smoke smell is constant, it could be annoying for some one that doesn’t smoke. The rooms need some renovations, there was some humidity in the walls, and the doors key locks system is old so is tricky to open and lock the doors. The hostel only sell coffee and some soft drinks, but for that they only receive cash not cards.
Is a fair relationship between the price and what’s offered. The location is good and near places of interest like downtown, puerto madero, recoleta among others.

Comfortable beds, personal locker available in the room. Power outlets and night light next to the bed. Generally clean and quiet.

TurkeyThe room was in a separate section from the hostel's interior rooms, and it was very cold. The air conditioning wasn't adequate. There was a duvet but no linens, so its cleanliness was questionable. The air conditioner wasn't working at full efficiency. For a place where it's winter, I think they need to improve the heating.
The location is excellent, in a safe neighborhood. A great location for San Telmo. The cleaning is good. The staff is helpful and friendly. There wasn't a hair dryer, but we asked for one, and they provided one. Thank you.

UruguayMy room had a very strong and unpleasant smell due to the lack of hygiene of some of the guests. Thankfully, the staff was incredibly kind and allowed me to stay in the lobby and rest on one of the sofas. They even provided me with a blanket and made sure I was comfortable. I’m really grateful for their help. It’s unfortunate that some people don’t consider how their personal hygiene affects others — a little self-awareness and cleanliness go a long way.

South AfricaThe common area was much smaller than the pictures and the kitchen was always busy so it was hard to find a slot to cook (if you need to cook)
I had the big deluxe room so it was pretty comfortable. Tub, shower and AC/heat.

United KingdomAlthough the place was cleaned by cleaners, spaces specifically the kitchen seemed to get overwhelmed. Despite signage, there was still dirty dishes left which made it difficult for new people to make meals there. However, this may be just because of the people we stayed with at the time. Otherwise the kitchen was fully equipped, some utensils such as chopping knives were scarce.
In a great location in San Telmo, easily accessible to the markets and local cuisine. The staff were all really friendly and help us with bits and bobs like airport transfers and tours to do. They offered a Tango night where they taught beginners the Tango. The communal area had space to lounge and chill with plenty of plug sockets. The bed was comfortable and the room cosy to just chill and relax when needed.

Costa RicaPayment with card needed to be done by providing all card details out loud, rather than being able to add them on your own. This didn't feel safe, so I preferred to pay the extra fee to pay in cash. Many people were smoking outside of the room, with the smoke getting inside the room through the door space and windows, which to non-smokers is definitely not a good thing.
Puerto Limon has a great location, with the market nearby, as well as many restaurants. The common space is very wide and the look and feel is very modern. The place included a wall with very good tips and information of what to do and they helped us reserve a very early taxi.

TaiwanKitchen is small. It’s difficult to cooking in peak times. Sometimes, the public bathrooms are dirty. Personal experience: When I checked in and paid on the first day, the staff pressed the wrong amount on the card. It should have been $30.42, but she typed it as $3042. Because the staff was inputting the amount on the computer, I didn’t see the card cost amount at the time. It was not until the evening that I discovered that a lot of money had been deducted from my credit card! Fortunately, the evening staff was very nice and helped me contact the boss for a refund. The fee was refunded two days later. This was an accident, but I was so shocked! My suggestion: the guests who use credit cards should confirm the amount they enter with the staff before paying.
Staffs are friendly. The atmosphere of public area is good.

United StatesStreet noise was very loud and soundproofing non-existent, kitchen was not very clean, fridge was packed, vibe of the hostel guests was strange and insularly, people helped themselves to my labeled food (and smashed up the rest of it), and the keyholes from the 1800s made the doors a bit of a challenge.
Price for a private room was outstanding, bed size was great and room was sufficiently spacious. Bathroom was not exactly an "ensuite" as it was outside the room, but was very nice with good water pressure.

AustraliaThe dorm rooms are loud; the doors, the bunk stairs, lockers, the external stairs - I can sleep through most things, but it was challenging getting rest with travellers rolling in at very different times. The bottom bunks are also really low, so request a top bunk unless your want to hit your head.
Great location! Nice communal area with lots of seating and lounging options. Lots of guests, but not a particularly social hostel. Cheap accommodation for BA prices.

United StatesThe bunk beds are quite low. If you are tall, try to request a top bunk or you will hit your head. It can be a little smelly. There may be incense at the entry or the smell of cigarettes wafting into the lobby.
Puerto Limon has a great location. It’s close to many small shops for food if you like to cook. There is a lovely patio area and generally friendly vibe. I made some new friends and got to practice a lot of Spanish.
