The only area of improvement I can find is with the shower/water heater. It was temperamental and would switch between cold and very hot often.

The hosts, Guilherme, Maiza, and their daughter, were exceptional. Very welcoming and friendly. The location is a block from the top of the Escadera Selaron, and also very close to an eclectic bar and restaurant scene in Santa Teresa. We also had an incredible view of the Gloria Bay from our window.

Great house with a beautiful garden/terrace above Lapa with a view over the centre and right next to the famous stairs. Very friendly hosts and delicious breakfast served in a very cosy and tastefully furnished living room. Highly recommended.

Everything was perfect. Just keep in mind that there are stairs to reach the rooms and also stairs inside the rooms so people with mobility disabilities will find it difficult to move around.

Casa Igba is perfectly situated between Lapa and Santa Teresa, the best neighborhoods of Rio's center. The house is beautifully renovated and has only a few rooms so the atmosphere is very cosy. The owners live right next door and they were really kind and helpful. I loved the decoration, the rooms were beautiful, bright and comfy. The terrace has nice view too. The breakfast which was included was excellent, I missed it already. I will definitely recommend it!

A most beautiful and highly charming place! The rooms are simple and convenient. There's only four of them, so the atmosphere is highly relaxed and relaxing – also due to the very sweet host. Wonderful breakfast and amazing view of central Rio and the bay from the room window and the hotel terrace. Highly recommended!

The hosts, Guilherme and Maiza were really warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the staff. The house and garden were beautiful, full of interesting art and places to relax. We stayed in a double room with a mezanine bedroom and balcony with street views. We loved our room, the bed was so comfy and the shower great! Initially we were a bit unsure about choosing Santa Teresa as it was not on the coast but it turned out to be the perfect location with cobbled streets and an arty bohemian vibe. Lots of interesting shops and places to eat. We were always happy to return at the end of the day. Selaron steps are around the corner from Casa Igba and the metro station is a short walk to easily get to beaches. Guilherme put us in touch with a great tour operator and arranged local taxis to visit the main attractions. It felt like home and we would struggle to stay anywhere else ever again! The best booking stay i've had and i've had them a lot. The most charming house, feels like the one from the movies od south america. All the details, the music playing really puts you in the vibe of Brasil. Hosts are great, helpfull and careing. Can't recomend this place enough.

When it rains, Uber refuses to go up the hill which needs to be considered. Otherwise, over New Year there and all went very well, just take the necessary precautions :-)

Very nice location close up to historical tramway and pleasant walks through Santa Teresa. Very close to Escandaria Selaron and further to Arcos da Lapa and downtown. Beautiful views from the property. Delicious breakfast. The property is full of interesting artworks. It's clear that someone took time and efforts to make it nice.

the only downside for the location is the fact that you need to be able to walk up steep roads and stairs. All houses, including this lovely B&B have stairs.

The breakfasts swerved were delicious and plenty full. Loved the servings of fresh local fruits. There are many areas , in the house, so sit and relax including a pool to cool off. The hosts were very helpful in providing tourist information. The location in Santa Teresa was perfect and close to restaurants , the famous Escardia Seleron and tram.

To get to the property you had to walk up an extremely steep hill or the famous steps so it was very strenuous to do every day multiple times a day in 35 degrees heat with backpacks.

The host and the staff were absolutely excellent. They were so helpful and really went above and beyond. They helped us order Ubers and told us the best restaurants to go to and attractions to visit. They were the best hosts we have ever experienced

We spent a wonderful week at Casa Igba, a place where I felt at home and like at a museum at the same time. A tastefully decorated place with paintings, many books and areas to relax. The host is very nice and helps you with any information you need. In addition, it can recommend more than the touristy places to visit, such as local art galleries. The location is nestled in a bohemian neighborhood, and the view over the city is very beautiful.

Amazing place, beautifully decorated in a nice neighborhood just a short walk from Santa Teresa. We felt safe. Great value stay during Carnaval, breakfast was beautiful, nice variety and the rooms were extremely comfortable, highly recommend!

Great location, the house is super cool looking and I loved our loft bed (not so convenient if drunk or pregnant I suppose haha). The host is super friendly and helpful and he recommended a list of some great Brazilian music artists to us after we showed interest. They also did our laundry for free which was super nice! We especially loved the breakfast! It was amazing! And the music really adds to it :) Going up the hill was a bit of a workout so be prepaired for that. Would love to stay again!

Guilherme, the owner, was brilliant- he made us feel right at home and really looked after. He gave us lots of helpful information about the local area, and a highlight was breakfast- it was delicious, every day! Guilherme was also very accommodating with us with our check in time and doing breakfast earlier so that we could eat before going out early for a tour. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the aircon was great. We loved the view from our balcony and also from the roof/outside areas. The house was arty and interesting, and we enjoyed meeting other travellers over breakfast. We also didn’t have any issues with safety in this location.

Gorgeous historic casa in the lovely location of Santa Teresa in Rio. Plenty of downstairs room to use as well as the bedroom. There is one large bedroom (‘the red room’) with double bed and wonderful views. The other 3 rooms are small with single beds, some with one bed up on a mezzanine. Very nice helpful owner who speaks good English.

This place is really a little paradise in Rio. All is clean, commun parties are very welcoming. The terrace is lovely, The view is beautiful. Owners welcome you in a simple but very nice way, they make all to for your stay to be a good moment. Charming people. Special mention to the delicious breakfast. I’ve been to several hostel in my life, this one is really on my top 3. You could come to Rio just for Casa IGBA! Just be aware that it’s nearly at the top of a harsh slope, so if you are not at least a bit fit, you will struggle to climb.

Loved everything about this place. Beautiful, comfortable home in great location. Lots of areas inside and out for relaxing. The host was extremely helpful, especially all of his attention in helping us locate our luggage that did not make it on our flight.
