The trusted driver booked by the hotel for the airport transfer was a nightmare. Not punctual at 5am, drove 30km/h over the speed limit in the pouring rain, dangerous overtaking without visibility, most of 1h30 journey on the fuel reserve - so much so that the car grazed on speed bumps several times and struggled to restart. An experience to forget which spoiled the end of a marvellous stay. Capim Santo should better their partners - it denotes their standards.

The entry of the hotel immediately makes you forget about your "not-holiday-life" when you walk through the path that is surrounded by tropical plants and banana leafs. This boutique hotel has two entries. The entry to the restaurant leads straight to the main (grass)square, where all the restaurants and boutiques are beautifully placed around the grass, facing the small white church. At well enough distance to not be bothered by the sounds. And the decorum is as from a magazine, so tasteful. The staff accommodated for all my wishes, horse riding, massage and yoga lessons in the morning, all was arranged and to perfection. The hotel has a restaurant that is known in town for its great cuisine. During daytime, the pool menu is also fabulous. Fresh coconuts. All great.

Amazing staff and location. The garden is incredibly beautiful. Nice pool area. Their restaurant provides a great option for dinner and the breakfast is fantastic.

The staff were not welcoming or helpful. When we arrived the staff did not help us to the reception or our room, it was night time and so it was difficult to see and the property is big so it took us awhile to find our way. When we found the reception we received very little welcome or orientation. For the price we were paying (~$500 USD/night for a master suite) I expected some special treatment- a welcome drink or something to eat, but there was nothing. The concierge didn’t even inform us that they had an affiliated beach club, we discovered this by accident. The breakfast is fine, a little redundant. Overall I preferred other hotels we’ve stayed at in the area and paid half the price for.

We have been to Trancoso several times before and only knew Capim Santo as a restaurant so far. Personally, I find the furnishings in the room and cleanliness much more important than the number of possible spa treatments or cocktails on the menu, when it comes to a hotel review. To be honest, we were disappointed with the Pousada, as we had expected a better standard based on the price and the description. The furnishings and the room were generally ok, but not more. There were several signs of age and use and the room obviously needed renovation. A few small things only had been temporarily repaired. The bathroom in particular obviously needed renovation. Also the bed was small for a double bed and only average. This would not be a big problem in an average accommodation, but if the pousada advertises itself as a premium accommodation, in this price level such things should to right. For this price I have experienced better rooms in Trancoso before.

The pousada has a beautiful garden with an impressive pool area. The breakfast buffet is good an offers a lot options. The staff is very friendly.
