One thing we would improve is the cleanliness, especially in the bathroom and the bed sheets. We also would have loved the shower to be warmer as we were travelling in August, which is the chill season. Finally, we had to unplug the fridge as the noise was a bit loud at night. But all in all, it was a good stay!

We really liked Sergio, who gave us a lot of information and recommendations about Rio. He was always ready to help and accommodate our needs. We also liked the fact that the house was in a private street which made us feel safer, and it was close to metro station, restaurants, shops and the beach.

Shower tubing would fall off as I showered but was easy fix to insert again.

Although it’s in a quiet street there is a fair amount of noise, especially when other guests operate the electronic keypad at late or very early hours. The bed was extremely hard too.

Very well located within a 10 minute walk to Copacabana beach. Close to shops and restaurants. Sergio the owner is lovely and goes out of his way to offer help and advice.

Sergio is just unique, very helpful and knowledgable about Rio. The house is very conveniently placed, really close to the beach and easy access to busses, metro and taxis. Generally Rio is very easy to get around, even with the weird layout.

Read the description of the kitchen facilities carefully- there is a microwave and coffee machine but no cooker/stove and no kettle, so we were unable to prepare our own meals other than sandwiches/salad. It would be ideal to have a cooker, then this place would be a 10/10!

Sérgio is a really lovely and thoughtful host, keen to provide information about his city and recommendations for what to do! Our room was comfortable and the location was very safe. We had good communication with Sergio before we arrived so that we knew what to expect. I would definitely stay again and recommend to other travellers!

Nothing really. But if you are looking for hotel like facilities this not for you. It is a home away from home rather than a hotel.

Hostel had a homey vibe with a modest bedroom, an ensuite bathroom, washing machine, coffee maker, microwave, etc. It was private and quiet located in a safe and gated neighborhood. The price was good value for money. Simple but functional. Most of all, the owner Socrates was such a wonderful host, taking time to orient guest about Rio in general and the copacbana area in general. He gave tips on what to do and what not to do as well as where to go and where not to go. He was always available should guests have questions. His hospitality is the most important plus factor to stay at his place.

Rooms slightly outdated and shower was lukewarm

The location is really good, up a safe street but walking distance everywhere. Sergio is the best host! He meets you with an induction about Rio and tells you all about it and the best things to do. Can’t speak highly enough of him thank you Sergio! Gave us tips on stuff to do on each day which was great! Walking distance to the beach. His coffee is great!

I had an absolutely lovely stay here! The host (Sergio) is incredible, it’s in one of the best and safest neighbourhoods of Rio, and the atmosphere sort of feels like a hostel (which I mean in the best way possible) while still having a room with all the amenities to yourself

Nothing, everything was as described.

The property is in a great location and is gated which makes it safer. It’s a short walk from Copacabana beach and the restaurants/ bars. The host Sergio met us on arrival allowing us an early check in and gave us lots of very useful knowledge which we used to plan our time in Rio. We had a double room with an en-suite bathroom and a balcony although we did not really use the balcony.

Excellent location on a quiet, safe dead end street within a short walk to Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. The room was quite large, and while my room didn't have air-conditioning, it was light and airy and there was a fan. Sergio, the owner, was fantastic. He's a great guy, speaks English very well (and several other languages), and was a a lot of help and a good source of information and advice.
