How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Fabien is a fantastic host and does everything possible to help, including organising taxis, picking up & dropping you off at car rental or bus station - all for free. The rooms are warm and comfortable with hot showers and free breakfast. Good wifi Excellent value for money Would highly recommend!

We loved everything!
We only stayed for one night and I can genuinely say after travelling South America for 3 months, this was the coziest, warmest, most welcoming stay of them all!💕 We were allowed late check in, when we arrived the lights were on, the room was warm and we were upgraded! In the morning, the lovely Fabian took us out to breakfast and we played with his 2 gorgeous dogs! We had such an amazing welcome into Chile 🇨🇱, I just wish we could’ve stayed longer !!

A stay at Hostal Patagonia is highly recommended. The rooms are large, clean, and very well-equipped, as is the kitchen. The best thing about the hostal is Fabian, the most helpful and kindest hostel owner I've ever met on my travels. He's always willing to listen and is happy to help with any needs. His taxi service to the city center is also extremely helpful.

The size of the room was great, nice and spacious. The bed was amazing. The room had everything you wished for. With a tv on the wall and chromecast equipped. Fabian was the most amazing host we’ve ever had. Drove us around town for free and in general a very nice person. Tells you a lot about the city and lets you see the highlights and also sends a lot of information about everything you want to know for your stay. A very cheap price for a great room and excellent service.

Nothing, we had a great stay!
We had such a fantastic stay here even though it was only a 1 night layover, we wished we could have stayed longer! The host was exceptionally kind, he was asking us about where we were from, playing music from our country in the car and gave us a free lift into main square. He gave great restaurant recommendations and genuinely wanted to help and ensure we had a wonderful stay. He had a room available that was larger than our original booking so offered to upgrade us for free. The place felt very safe, homely and very clean! There was a shared kitchen facility with free snacks too. You can’t go wrong if you stay here.

Lovely hostel that feels more like a guesthouse, with comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Fabian is brilliant, so helpful and always happy to provide transport around Punta Arenas. I would 100% recommend and hope to stay again.

Fabian is amazing! He went above and beyond and even took us to cool spots in Punta Arenas! He was incredible at communicating despite a language barrier, and even helped me a bit with my Spanish. Could not reccomend a better place to stay in Punta Arenas. Thank you Fabian!

Such a nice, small, clean and tidy hostel. It has the vibe that it really feels like you're coming home. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are very comfortable and fabian is just the nicest host.We will definitely be back! Highly recommended

Absolutely wonderful stay. Fabien is perhaps the friendliest and most welcoming host you will ever meet. Picked us up from the bus station after a late arrival. Dropped us in town early morning for a tour. Gave us excellent advice and recommendations for around town. Sad we couldn't stay longer.

Nothing. It was the perfect stay, especially after trekking for 5 days in Torres del Paine. We felt so relaxed here.

Fabian was excellent. I was there only for a few hours. Reached around midnight and left early morning for Isla Magdalena. Came back and only had two minutes to collect my baggage, before leaving for bus stop. Fabian helped and orchestrated everything even though I was there only for a few hours. Top guy! The room was super clean.

Loved it all!
Fabian was very friendly and helpful. He drove us to the downtown area and picked us up again free of charge. He stopped at various sites of interest and gave us some history of the area. He provided recommendations for restaurants and places to see.There were snacks and breakfast items available for free. The room we had was very large and had a private bathroom. Fabian was the friendliest host we have ever had. Would definitely stay here again.

Fabian makes this place what it is. A hostal is just bed and walls, but the owner Fabian makes this place everything it is. He is always friendly, always willing to help, almost demands to go the extra mile for you. He is an exceptional host

Great stay! Fabian is the most attentive and thoughtful host we have ever met. He was always genuinely keen to help with anything we needed, from advice about places to visit to giving us a lift. The house is warm and equipped with everything you need, including a kitchen, food, sweets, and drinks. The rooms are comfortable. Thank you, Fabian, for making our time in Punta Arenas so wonderful!

A gem of Punta Arenas! The host was so kind and accommodating to us. The room was very comfortable and the kitchen had everything. I will definitely stay here again if I am ever in Punta Arenas in the future. There is also the most adorable fluffy cat.

Fabian is the soul of the hostel. He's such a wonderful host, very talkative and attentive. I appreciated it so much that he took such great care of his guests, would help at all times, give advice, drive us to the city or pick us up. He's a very passionate human and he made my stay wonderful! My room was cozy, had everything I needed and it was very clean. Free tea + coffee and some snacks available.

This is a really great place to stay in Punta Arenas. Fabian is a great host who is really interested in his guests. Sandwiches, fruits and snacks are always available and there is a free shuttle to the city center. Room was cozy and clean. Can highly recommend this place if you are in Punta Arenas.

Fabian is a very nice helpful owner. He helps you to organise your trips to the penguin’s island and provides you very useful information about the town. Very quiet place. Room was big with a lot of space and to hang up the clothes. The Hostal is not in the city center but Fabian offers a free pick -up service into the city center. Walking is possible 20-30 min.
