How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOne of the few rooms I've stayed in which actually looked even better than in the photos! Very lovingly restored rooms, modern decor but very much in harmony with the architecture. Very spacious. Lukas was waiting to greet us when we arrived and after we were settled in he gave us good restaurant recommendations, a street map and general orientation. He made us feel like valued guests. Town centre is about 5 minutes (steep) walk, either by stairs or sloping streets. We were allowed to use the space in front of the garage directly opposite the accomodation, which was much appreciated. But free parking on the streets nearby seems to be no problem. Great breakfast served at the table. This is a great place to stay!
No regular TV channels. I had to finally work out how to access my Netflix account while travelling.
Thank you kindly for your nice review, we were pleased to have you stay with us, we wish all the guests could be such kind and friendly travellers! We enjoyed your company and please know, we plan to enhance our TV channels offer soon, we need to install some new technical equipment, hopefully we will manage for the next season! Thank you for that remark anyway! All the best and stay well!

Verified reviewAs I already informed the room’s owner, the surprises were far more than anyone would reasonably expect—and not in a good way. The room we had booked was unavailable upon arrival. All amenities came at an extra cost, despite being of poor quality. Breakfast consisted of cheap supermarket products, lacking freshness or variety. If you don’t eat eggs, the only alternative offered was cereal with milk—again, straight from the supermarket shelves. Using the washing machine cost €10, and a single coffee capsule was priced at €1. The total cost for our three-night stay was €328, but the owner arbitrarily applied a “rate adjustment” that increased the final price. Paying by card incurred an additional 2% fee on the total amount. The advertised “free parking” is misleading—it’s actually a public space that may or may not be available depending on the time of day. No elevator available on this building! The room we were eventually given had undergone some renovation, but there were exposed electric wires hanging from a column. The bathroom and the rest of the room had no ceiling separation, making the spaces feel awkwardly connected. The partition wall with the neighboring apartment was paper-thin—we could hear every sound from next door. The owner behaved in a manipulative manner. When I asked for clarification about the extra charges on my bill, he offered to refund the full amount and let me pay whatever I thought was fair. On the first day, when I asked why we weren’t given the room we paid for, he admitted the mistake and offered us a bottle of champagne and sparkling water as a gesture of goodwill—only to later add the cost of the champagne to our final bill under “hidden charges.” I’m sorry to say this, but I cannot recommend this property and would never choose it again. I’ll definitely remember this unacceptable experience the next time I book a room.
All the above !
Dear Sir, Thank you for your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify several important facts, especially since most of the concerns you raised were discussed and resolved during your stay, and – to our understanding – you accepted the offered solutions without objection at the time. First and foremost, you had originally booked our cheapest room category without breakfast, but since it wasn’t ready upon arrival, we offered you a free upgrade to the best and most spacious room in our entire guesthouse. This was done as a gesture of goodwill and with the hope of enhancing your stay. Additionally, we provided you with a complimentary bottle of DOCG Prossecco and local mineral water as an apology – which were never charged. Your claim regarding “hidden fees” is simply untrue. All optional services, including coffee (1 € per capsule), laundry and dryer (10 €), or breakfast, are clearly listed in our information materials and are always communicated transparently in advance. As for "breakfast" it was not included in your original booking and was added at your request. Our breakfasts are one of the most appreciated aspects of our service. We use fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including farm-fresh eggs from local suppliers. Many guests specifically praise the quality and variety of our breakfast, which includes fresh bread, cheese, ham, eggs, seasonal vegetables and fruit, cereals, coffee, and tea and truly home made desserts. Regarding the parking, our listing clearly states that we offer free public parking nearby, which is subject to availability – as with any public space. We have never advertised private parking. It is also important to mention that we do not have an elevator and this is explicitly stated in our property description. Suggesting otherwise is incorrect. While we respect your right to leave a review, we believe that several points in your feedback are either inaccurate or misleading. We made significant efforts to accommodate your needs, improve your stay, and treat you with respect and fairness throughout. We wish you all the best in your future travels. The owner.

Verified reviewIt is a wonderful little hotel located in a very quiet neighborhood, but it takes about 5-10 minutes to get to the center of town. This place feels like home, it is a beautifully restored old building. The owner is extremely helpful and just makes your stay absolutely enjoyable. He is very easy to communicate: he speaks perfect English. We would be happy to stay here again.
