Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNoise level of upstairs and adjacent neighbors. No screens on windows, which were wide open when we arrived. Flies were getting in often. No furniture for mattresses & boxsprings, just on the floor. Messaging from hosts before and during our stay was confusing - first made me nervous that we booked a shared room, then made me nervous that were supposed to check out then back in for our third/final day of our stay. Gave us extra instructions to lock the main door that locked itself, and an extra code for room 1 that we still don't know what it was for. WIFI access didnt work for me, one of the two addresses was active but the password wasn't correct. My partner connected to one of them right away, but it wasn't working. When we arrived there was a load if linens in the washer. We just hung them to dry and then folded them. Entry hall and bathroom smell was pretty awful. 1 roll of toilet tissue for 3 days. Woke up two morning with new bug bites, but found no bugs..so unclear if it was from the room or not.
Location was perfect. Price was about what I expected for the good location.

France1) Potential bed bugs: While the rooms looked clean at first glance, the bedding looked quite old and not inviting. When I woke up the next day I found some stains on my bed (see pics) that might be indicative of *bed bugs*, even though I had no bites on me. I wasn't thrilled to see the later review of another tourist who said bed bugs were present in some rooms. There was a bag of wooly material right under my bed which looked like the perfect abode for bed bugs 😩 🪲 But this is a possibility (that is not fully confirmed) 2) No in-person human contact for check in. I had to send my id via an app which I didn't trust much. 3) Thin walls and noisy environment. I could hear people snoring in the room downstairs and other people talking until about 1am. Then it was ok until about 8.30am 4) Lack of items provided: the bathroom only had toilet paper and a tiny bit of diluted soap. No bins, no shower gel, no anything else.
The accommodation couldn't be located in a better place, spot on in the city centre. And the price we got for the one night was very good. But that's about it.

IrelandCustomer care was ignoring any calls. There was a small crowd of people in the halls not understanding if they got the room or not. First floor didn’t have bedbugs but upper floors reported some.

IrelandI ordered 3 towels for me and my friends to take our shower, but they did not gave it to us. How the house was shared with more people, I think we were in 7 there, on the night the toilet paper was over. And they did not filled it up on the following day!
The place was nice, clean and the location is amazing !

Czech RepublicWe recommend bringing earplugs, as you can hear your neighbours above and next to you. Cleanliness could be better (in the room and kitchen); there were stains on one of the towels, and we found small bugs in the room in some places. The cleanliness of the bathroom was acceptable given the circumstances. We would also appreciate some cabinet or at least a small table in the room to put things on—there were only beds in the room. The window could only be opened a little.
The accommodation is well located, right in the centre, and arrival at the accommodation was without any problems. The room had two bunk beds in good condition, which were quite comfortable. Suitable accommodation for a quick overnight stay, but we would not recommend it for a longer stay.

United StatesIt didn’t feel secure. No deadbolt on the door and it appeared that the door had been kicked in at some time. Laundry was still running in the washer when I arrived so I didn’t know who was coming back. I slept with my suitcase between the bedroom door and the bed to prevent anyone from coming in.
Spacious and the unit had a washing machine.

United KingdomThe apartment smelt so bad. We avoided the bathroom and kitchen due to this foul smell. Furniture was broken and cracked, walls were stained. Did not feel clean. Host did come and spray air freshener to help the smell but this did not help.

SpainThe room is all you can expect for the cheapest accomodation in the city centre. The problem is the management. They sent me three codes: one for the street door, one for the apartment door and one for my room. The first one didn't work. I had to send a message to the accomodation to ask for a working code and wait on the street until I got an answer. When I finally managed to get in, I found out that the other two codes were totally useless, as the apartment and the room doors didn't have panels to enter codes. You could just open them. Eventually, I wanted to go out to have some dinner, but I was afraid of leaving my baggage unprotected (there aren't lockers either). So I texted again to the accomodation to ask if it was safe to leave my stuff in the room while I was out and they replied that I could do that, but at my own risk... It may be tempting to book here to since it's cheap, but I would strongly suggest anybody to spend a couple more of euros and book somewhere else where they take security and customer treatment more seriosuly.

United KingdomThe address was wrong. The check in did not work so we gained access by waiting for another guest to go in. No one to speak to when you get in. No one answers the phone. Even when we made contact it still took an hour to sort, we wasted a lot of time. Terrible locks, they are very temperamental. Holes in the doors. We paid for a private bathroom but it was out of order so we did not get the facilities we had deliberately booked. Literally nothing in the room except 2 very wobbly bunk beds. We appreciate it was cheap accommodation but this was a terrible place, we would not recommend to anyone.
The location was excellent, close to the city centre.

United KingdomPeople who were staying there had left mouldy food, coffee thrown up the walls. I had trouble unlocking the doors. The state of outside was disgusting with old clothes, cigarettes and rubbish. Old mouldy food left in the drawers in the room I was staying in, I’m 100% certain the bed covers were not even changed given the state of the room. Was not even refunded 10% for my troubles. No air conditioning and people were cooking and banging until early hours making the house extremely humid and smelly.
Great location and value for money if you’re backpacking. Right in the centre. Cleaners came every morning to clean the bathroom
