Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

A lovely, rural guesthouse run by welcoming and friendly Icelandic farming folk who obviously have many talents. The room was very comfortable, the house authentic and quaint, and breakfast was superb. Thank you!

Very local unassuming exterior. Use gps as it’s not marked on the road. Looks like a farm, which it is. Good breakfast, and friendly couple operators. Very good value.

CanadaThe only slight downside would be that soundproofing between rooms is minimal.
This place is absolutely charming! The property is magical, with stunning views and farm animals wandering around. The rooms have plenty of space, and ours had its own sink which was very convenient. The BnB also had 2 showers, which meant minimal waiting. Gudrun was a lovely host and offered extensive breakfast options. I hope to go back when I return to Iceland!

United StatesThe breakfast was fine but nothing to write home about.
The view of the glacier was unbeatable. I wanted to stay in a rustic place and it was an old farmhouse that has many bedrooms and one bathroom for the floor. We were late in the summer so there was no dinner so we had to rush to Höfn to get something to eat. Which all turned out fine. I wish I could have stayed another night and gotten a better chance to enjoy the location.

United StatesThe sink faucet for cold water was not working it was free. We burnt our hand. When complained while checking out, the owner first accepted and said he would check, and in a minute, he came back saying we must have done something which might have broken it. Why would we do that? Very poor response.
Very well maintained. Great location with great scenery.

Beautiful place, nice rooms and there is also the possibility of using the kitchen on the ground floor; the view of the glaciers in the distance is majestic and the location in the park allows for beautiful walks in the surrounding area.

This place is really our favourite in our trip in Iceland: you really have the feeling of experiencing local life, in a real Icelandic house managed by local people. The house itself is rustic but very curated in the details and really welcoming and warm. We loved our room as well as the big and warm shared bathroom. The authentic furniture and details added an extra touch! The restaurant and brewery are simply amazing, both in the dinner and breakfast proposals: if you stay in this guesthouse, make sure to eat here! Thank you!!

CanadaVery expensive stay just for a night of sleep. All places in that area are equally expensive.
Excellent location with 3 glaciers in your backyard. Nice cottage with fully equipped kitchen and laundry. They have a good restaurant on site if you can reach on time for the dinner that closes at 8pm. Host is very responsive and a nice lady. Good break fast especially for vegetarian people. Location is close to Glacier,Ice burgs and diamond beach.

HungaryIn our apartment four rooms shared a bathroom. Our rooms were adjacent to that so every event in the bathroom could be heard clearly. The walls are so thin that you could hear conversations in the next room or be startled by any louder movement.
Beautiful natural environment on a real farm with lots of animals. The staff was very kind. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Good value for money.

United KingdomThe digs are pretty basic, out of sync with the setting and the context. The shower needs an upgrade too. However, this is the middle of nowhere and there are still recovering from floods, so the family has hard investment decisions to make. Please stay here, but limit your expectations.
The accommodation is a converted home on a farmstead at the bottom of a retreated glacier. A characterful restaurant, with live music, operates from mid-June to September - we missed it by a week. The brewery that used to be on the premises has closed but its owner supplies the restaurant with beer from his new brewery in Höfn, up the way. The flock of hippy sheep that line the road off the highway, are the coolest in all of Iceland.

SerbiaKitchen was poorly equiped and not comfortable to use, dishes weren't well cleaned and pans were old and sticky, the fridge is super small. I didn't enjoy the bathroom since it was super small, but it is acceptable.
Considering that this is a farm, staying here was quite nice. Rooms are clean, kind owner, bunch of super cute animals to enjoy, enough parking space, great location, nice view, lovely nature around the house.

GreeceOnly the size of the smallest room because all four of us had suitcases, but the apartment is so spacious that you can store your things in the main hall. Maybe a family with kids would be better suited than 2 couples.
We stayed in the cottage apartment, it was four of us so me and my partner stayed in the smallest bedroom which wasn't ideal and the other couple had the bigger bedroom. Ours was really cute and had a window with such a nice view. The apartment was large with an amazing front view as well, was really well equipped & clean. Was the first apartment that we stayed that had kitchen paper available as long as some breakfast products, which you tend to forget how essential they are when you are circling Iceland. Landlord was really polite and fun to talk to and he gave us permission to walk around his beautiful farm and we saw sheep and a beautiful sunset. There was also laundry room available which is a huge plus.
