How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI absolutely loved the B& Costa degli Dei! I love old historical buildings and especially this one. The pictures on booking showed a darker image view at night that might not look too impressive to some but I assure you it's one of the coolest places I stayed in during our 3 week trip., I booked it due to the great reviews and reasonable cost. I was in room 2 which offered the largest balcony overlooking a quiet street. Nice monogrammed towels, maid service and hot pot if you brought your own instant coffee, tea was provided. A slice of the sea could be seen. Breakfast and time to be delivered was chosen the night before with plenty of choices and beverages. The mother delivered breakfast every morning with a smile. The office is not manned 24/7 but a simple phone call will bring the owner out to help you. It's located in a very safe area. The key scans the entrance to the building as well as your room. A quick walk left or right will land you near the steps to the beach or R the heart of the town and plenty of restaurants. Be sure to visit AMORE for great food and plenty of flair since the waiters come out mid dinner with tambourines and singing. Get there before 7 or you will be waiting. Book a tour with Mark if you want to see more of the beach areas. There are tours all over Tropea but most will involve many people on your rubber type boat. The limit on his tour is 8 people. It's a 3 hr tour with plenty of stops for snorkeling and just seeing Tropea. For the extra 15-20 euro's it's worth it. Go to trip advisor and book his! Marco Blue Heart.
There was nothing that wasn't perfect!

Verified reviewLocation was excellent right in the middle of the old town. Croissants in the morning were superb. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were very friendly
Not cleaned every day but it was an option to have for 15 euros which I didn’t realise. Shower in the bedroom not ideal

Verified reviewthe location is good. near to city center and lots of restaurants around.
the room service was once in a 3 day (?!). so you can imagine once you are swimming in the sea everyday and you bring sand with your clothes involuntarily in the room - they aren’t cleaned, nor there is possibility to clean it by yourself. if you want them to clean your room and change sheets more often- you have to pay 15€ each time. there was a small soap in the bathroom and less than half bottle of all purpose showergel which ended after few days and during cleaning day they didn’t change it. breakfast was a joke. there is no buffet, they ask you to fill out the breakfast form every day and check the food you want to eat and when to eat. then they will bring it to your room in the morning. there was an option of croissants with different filling. dry toast with ham and cheese, coffee, glass of juice and rusks (some dried bread) and marmelade. no water of course. during 6 nights of stay two mornings the cappuccino came like a water. you aren’t allowed to use the kitchen. so if you don’t like the breakfast you paid for you have to eat outside.

The location is absolutely perfect – right in the heart of everything, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and just a short walk to the beach. The room was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. A special thank you to Silvana, whose warm hospitality and outstanding service made my stay even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the area – I’ll definitely be back!

Verified reviewPerfect place for exploring the old town of Tropea. Everything within the old town is a 5 minute or less walk from the B&B. Nicola and his Mom were wonderful hosts. The place was large, clean and comfortable. The building is about 800 years old and the exterior looks like it! However, the interior has been completely remodeled and is gorgeous. It is an easy 15 minute downhill walk from the train station. On the day that I left the weather had turned from gorgeous to sprinkling with a few claps of thunder. Fortunately my hosts had warned me when I checked in that because it was off-season I might not be able to get a ride at the last minute so they arranged a ride to the train station for me in advance. It was €15 which they said was ridiculously expensive and they apologized but I would rather have paid the driver than walk uphill in the rain. If I come to Tropea again I will definitely try to stay here.
Nothing really but it should be noted that this place is on the second floor and there is NO LIFT.

Verified reviewGreat communication and support from owners. Location was first class right in the heart of the old town. Breakfast was lovely (although please note breakfast is served in your room (you select the night before) - nothing wrong with this and it actually suited us but I obvs hadn’t properly read about this beforehand). Great check out facilities and ability to leave luggage. Hairdryer in room. Kettle in room (but you need to bring coffee). I did pay extra for sea view and yes I did have a sea view (see pic). For the price we paid we were more than happy with this b&b.
Minor points but worth noting… No “normal” tea in the room only flavoured tea and no coffee in room (only that served at breakfast) It did say room cleaned every three days (may have read this wrong so haven’t ) as our towels were changed once but no room cleaning. We requested extra shower gel and were given it. The entrance area might put some people off but again it was not a reflection on the actual b&b

Verified reviewThe staff are super friendly and communicated well ahead of our check in, which was late due to delayed flights. Thankfully Nicola was happy to come and let us in later than usual. The location is AMAZING! Right in the heart of the Old Town. Our room had a lovely view over the old buildings and a little glimpse of the sea too. The place was nice and quiet. The only noise we heard was on Friday night coming from Frida's, the bar on the ground floor, but this wasn't a huge problem and kind of expected on a Friday night! Whilst the room was quite small, it was clean, comfortable and finished in a good modern style. I got the impression that Nicola really wants his guests to enjoy their stay and will do his best to accommodate. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Tropea. We hope to visit again soon.
