How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAlex was super helpful with recommendations for restaurants in Florence! Location was excellent - everything was within a short walking distance and we were able HK go back to our room for a short break in between different sightseeing spots.

Verified reviewStaff were very friendly and inviting. There were laundry machines for free that we really appreciated. The staff kept our room clean and provided fresh towels daily. AC was also available which we desperately needed after staying in Milan and Lake Como where it was still relatively warm during day but only had heating available. The hotel is centrally located. Everything was within a 5-10 minute walk. Room and shower were spacious and bed was so comfortable. Free water bottles were restocked daily. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Florence!!
Honestly, nothing about this hotel was bad.

We don’t usually do B&B type lodging, but this was a good experience.

Verified reviewExcellent location in the heart of old town a block from the Duomo cathedral, and a short walk to museums and other attractions. Convenient parking in Garage Giglio, about 10-minute walk away (€26/day), it’s right before the gate on the left, don’t enter the ZTL like we did. Very friendly host/owner Alessandro, very large room and bathroom with walk-in shower, large comfortable king-size bed and pillows. WIFI, A/C, TV, refrigerator, desk and two luggage racks. Good breakfast at a local café, 2 min. walk, all you can eat buffet with an adequate choice of items.
Not a big negative but be aware that most Italian B&B’s / hotels air dry their towels, so they are stiff and coarse. Also, typical of most European hotels, they don’t provide wash clothes, we always bring our own. Shampoo and conditioner are limited, or of poor quality.
Thank you, Richard, for the high rating, and I hope to see you again the next time you return to Florence. Let me take this opportunity to explain: We wash the towels ourselves at 95 degrees Celsius and hang them in the dryer room. They won't be as soft as those in a commercial laundry, but they're certainly much more hygienic, since they use dye to cover up dirt. Upon arrival, you were told to leave your dirty dishes in the sink because we wash everything ourselves every morning. In any case, the kitchen has plenty of cloths, sponges, and soaps for you to use; just open the drawers and cabinets. Every morning, the rooms are cleaned and any missing products are replenished, including shampoo and conditioner. If you need anything else, just ask.

Verified reviewI liked that it was in downtown. The hosts were super helpful. It was clean and nice.
The street is super noisy until late night and you can hear everything although windows and blinds are shot. The bed was absolutely uncomfortable, you would feel your side is pushing down with your weight.
Hello Mina, You stayed with us for one day only, and it's likely you're confusing our place with the accommodation where you stayed the night before. The windows are intact—if they were broken, we would have replaced them. The bed is extremely comfortable, and no one is "pushing" anyone. Perhaps what you really needed was someone to give you a bit of a push... I also noticed you gave a low score for cleanliness, which is usually one of our strongest points, as clearly shown by other reviews. Lately, we've seen cases of people being paid to stay in places and leave negative reviews about other accommodations.

Thank you Deanna for the high review Thanks for the heads up, just to clarify... The windows are highly insulated from a water perspective, and there are no nightclubs nearby. During the day, sirens and the noise of the city can be heard... we're in Piazza Duomo. I hope see you again Alessandro

Verified reviewThe location is second to none; a three minute walk from the Duome, still on a quiet street. Close to restaurants, cafes, shopping and all the things that make Florence such a special place. Alessandro is an exceptional host. From the moment I booked the room he stayed in touch, always available to provide information to make our arrival to Florence easier. When we arrived he made us feel welcome and helped us with whatever requests we had. The facilities have been freshly renovated, it is all imacualate clean and brand new. The room has a lot of space; we had a lot of luggage and never had to squeeze in to manage our bags and belongings while staying at the Dell'Olio.
The fact that our stay came to an end.

Verified reviewEverything about our stay was wonderful — the place was spotless, the rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the location couldn't have been better. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the entire staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Special shoutout to Jackson for going out of his way to meet us 30 minutes before his shift so we could drop our bags before our morning tour — truly appreciated! I highly recommend this B&B and would definitely stay again.

Verified reviewLocation was incredible
Was extremely loud at night especially on a weekend.
Hi Lara There are no nightclubs in the area; the entire city is packed with people strolling and staying out until at least 1:00 a.m. You came with a small child, and if you expected absolute silence at 9:00 p.m., you're wrong. Not just in this area, but throughout the entire historic center; low season almost doesn't exist in Florence. I also noticed a less than completely satisfactory rating in other areas, which are usually our strong points. Have a wonderful holiday in Italy! Alessandro
