How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOne of the most remarkable places we have ever stayed, our room was exceptional, in fact jaw dropping, beautifully decorated with 3+ meter high ceiling complete with renaissance style fresco, ultra lux bathroom, one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in, perfect location for local cafes and restaurants, short walk to both Trevi fountain and the Spanish Steps, included minibar and snacks. We spent the previous night in an upscale hotel room that was almost double the tariff, this property just blew that one away. By far our favourite thing was the owner Versuka, she was one of the most delightful people ever, nothing was too much trouble for her, just a wonderful person who made our stay in the amazing room complete. When we come back to Rome we would never stay anywhere else.
Nothing, I had some difficulty finding the entry but that was my problem.

Verified reviewStaff were solicitous and room was clean.
Room was small and crowded with unnecessary stuff, eg snacks, set table, etc. Plus, it was very difficult to find because there is NO name but as tiny residential buzzer.
--- Dear Mrs Virginia thank you for sharing your experience. We are pleased that you appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the attentiveness of our staff. We would like to kindly remind you that the room size is clearly indicated in the description, so that guests can choose according to their needs. All extras – snacks, wine, whisky, amaro, and minibar – are offered free of charge as a welcome gesture to make the stay more enjoyable. Considering your long trip in Italy, it is possible that there was some confusion regarding the property reviewed, as several elements of the review do not match our offerings. We hope to welcome you again and provide an equally pleasant and comfortable stay. Best regards, The Management Barberini Dream

There is a little road noise which is to be expected within the city.

Verified reviewThe room was lovely and so many amazing amenities included! The hosts were very accomodating and made arrangements for our private travel to the airport. The location was very walkable to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Forum, Colosseum, and Pantheon.

Verified reviewOur hostess was lovely and extremely responsive. They have a lot of extra amenities, including beer, alcohol, and soft drinks, as well as pastries. Breakfast was included, and you ordered the evening before, but the selection was relatively small, but the amounts were quite large. They have tried very hard to make the travelers experience a good one. Location is terrific, two minute walk from the metro and a major bus stop, a 20 minute walk from the railroad station, and restaurants and shopping all just minutes away. The bathroom has been nicely updated and the shower is quite large. Water pressure was good.
There were noise issues at night. There was not much in the way of storage, and no place to put things in the bathroom.

Verified reviewThe owner made herself available at all times of the day to provide anything we may have needed. The room was beautifully furnished and it was right off the Bernini fountain concourse.
For increased safety. They could use a couple of handrails in the lobby for the steps leading to the elevator.

Verified reviewThis boutique hotel inside a renovated old apartment building has exceptional staff, beautiful decor, modern conveniences, and is only 2 minutes from Piazza Barbarini, with cabs, a Metro stop, shops, and restaurants. Veruska and Gianluca, the property managers, live onsite and provide exceptional service. We arrived 2 hours early expecting to have our luggage stored. Instead, they had cleaned all 3 of our rooms. What a surprise to be able to relax before heading to the Colosseum (10 euro/10 minute cab ride); we walked back, past the Trevi Fountain- 25 minutes total. Little touches, like free snacks, drinks and homemade American breakfast just added to the great experience.
There was some street noise at night, given the echo chamber of narrow streets and close buildings.

Verified reviewFantastic location only 10 minute walk to Trevi Fountain in one direction and 10 minute walk to the beautiful serenity of Rome's biggest park Villa Borghese. Our hosts Veruska and Gianluca were so welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well cared for. You will not get this attention in a mainstream hotel so do yourself a favour and stay with these beautiful hosts.
Nothing, everything was perfect.

Verified reviewGood location on a side street off Tritone square; the lady who runs the place is very friendly and prompt in answering any requests including changing pillows or airport transfers. Spacious room with very tall ceiling. Breakfast delivered to the room every morning . Overall it offers good value for the money
Significant noise from the street with old windows that don't provide proper insulation. Notorious night club situated across the street made it difficult to sleep on Saturday night. Dated furniture. This is not a hotel, it is more an airbnb type of apartment building with the manager present on site; no elevator.
