Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandOur initial room we were assigned (54) had a strong mold/mildew oder plus little ventilation, which would not have been healthy to continue sleeping in. We were, however, moved to a room with better ventilation/air flow upon reporting this to the host 😊
This review does not directly apply to this room. When we arrived there was an issue with our original room. Upon informing the host we were promptly moved to a new suitable room for the remainder of our time there. Location is great and central in monopoli and close to plenty of places to eat at.

United KingdomThe shape of the accommodation was a bit claustrophobic and the mattress wasn't very comfortable. I personally prefer human interaction rather than msg and instructions.
The location is great. Very clean. Good value for money. The host, Rosa, was very friendly but we only interact over the phone.

IrelandNo natural light, no windows. Sand and grit falling from the ceiling onto the bed due to traffic in the upstairs apartment?. Didnt put us off staying here again though.
Great apartment right on the edge of the port in the old town. We loved everything about this place. Bed was comfortable, shower and bathroom very clean. Right besides bars and restaurants. Ideal

RomaniaUnpleasant smell from lack of windows, humid all the time. Air conditioning not working properly at all. A bit noisy but understandable for location.
It was centrally placed and close to everything. We liked the easy check-in and the smooth communication with the owner.

BulgariaThe entrance of the room is situated in a back alley right in front of a restaurant. We didn't find it to be noisy but there was no proper way to get fresh air, especially needed in July. The first night there was a strong smell of mould and without windows, the only solution we had was to keep the AC running all night. I think that a great addition for the room would be the introduction of some good ventilation.
The room is located in an excellent spot. It is right next to Castello Carlo V. It was very clean and tidy. The lady running the property is very helpful and responds relatively quick. We needed fresh towels and an iron - which she was ready to bring immediately. I highly recommend this location if you are looking for a place just to spend the night while also being in the heart of Monopoli.

SwedenBe aware the rooms are on street level with no windows to be open. This gives you zero ventilation and the room is like a cellar - alway moist with a bit moldy smell. I found WiFi once I asked the last guest about it. No signal on the phone inside the room.
Great location right on a picturesque little square!

United KingdomIt's true that it's quite noisy because of the pizzeria on the doorstep and the people traffic, but I took earplugs and was fine with it. If you want somewhere really quiet don't go to a town........The reward is a fantastic location in a vibrant, lovely place.
Brilliant location, in the beautiful old town of Monopoli, right beside the harbour, promenade and all the cafes, bars and restaurants around. More importantly, the fantastic pizzeria/cafe, The King, is right outside the front door. So handy, delicious food, and reasonably priced. Highly recommended. I had the large double room with balcony which was perfect for looking out over the square. A small kitchen and lovely bathroom were great to have. Signora Rosa was very pleasant and kind and access was easy. I'd love to go back there.

AustraliaThe door to the room is right where people walk past. There was still rubbish in bin from previous guests. Room is very closed in (no windows to get light or a fresh breeze in).
Great location. Close to restaurants/shops/grocery shops/beaches. Despite being next to a bustling cafe, the room was soundproof. Room temperature was quite cool - would be great in hotter months.

AustraliaA small kettle would have been great, but thats minor. Everything was great.
Location was great... amongst all the old town activity. However, we found it hard to find, and not speaking Italian was tricky... but found it in the end, then it was all easy. Owner came and she was most helpful.

AustraliaI would have thought as it is a B&B that breakfast would be included however this could be an option whilst booking. It also could get damp in there as there are no windows which means clothes don’t dry

ItalyThe room is very loud and dark, because there’s a restaurant. Tables are literally under your window, so you should not open the window if you want some privacy. It’s impossible to dry towels and swim suits cause there’re no heating system or balcony. High level of humidity in the room, every time you feel that your clothes and bed linens are a bit wet.
Good location in historical center of Monopoly. The room is very clean.

SerbiaVery poor ventilation in the bathroom, it's damp and smells bad. Similar situation in the room, it has one window, but there is a restaurant table in front of it, the door opens directly to the street, so it cannot be aired out.

IrelandWe stayed for 4 nights but after the first day there was a smell of mould, this is the case with a lot of these stone properties. A window in the door opens onto a narrow walkway for the restaurant on the doorstep. I found the room claustrophobic, my husband didn’t. Very, very noisy, staff at restaurant talking and laughing loudly at 8am and 2am. They do not talk and laugh so loud when they have customers. I would not stay here again because of smell of mould and restaurant staff being so noisy.
Great location in the centre of Monopoli. Comfortable bed, small bathroom with shower and plenty of sockets. Spotlessly clean, we asked and got 2 extra pillows. Checked in early but sometimes communication was difficult as I had to translate in Google. There is free parking at Port Vecchio beach, white lines (blue lines you pay) property is then a 15 minute walk.

New ZealandPoor response when called the owner on the chemcal smell and lack of ventilation - finding a cafe at the door the next morning was the last staw.
Really disappointed - we moved out after the first night as there was a cafe right outside the bedroom door - the room didn'y ha ve window so could open the door for ventilation. Photos did nor feed back indicate these issues - assked for a refund and haven't had a response - very unhappy customer!

PortugalI wouldn't stay here again. Terrible value for three nights. We stayed in room 54, with the entrance literally in the middle of a restaurant. The room was unventilated and the mattress was awful. The internet signal provided by the wifi's property was very very weak. Concerning car parking, before arriving, I sent a message asking for directions to parking and received no response. I ended up asking someone on the street and was given incorrect directions about parking on the white line, which resulted in a €29 fine. The place was completely unwelcoming and impersonal. After Monopoli, we stayed in Lecce and Matera and saw the difference in service in a much more positive light.
Just the location although to get in we had to literally pass thru a restaurant tables in the middle of the clients
