How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewOwner and his wife very hospitable. The rooms were very clean. Location was a very short walk to the beach, even tho we didn't get to enjoy it! Many restaurants within walking distance. Only about 15 minutes to the Rome airport so very convenient. A enjoyable stay.

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay at this apartment in Fiumicino. The hosts, Rino and Riosa, were very kind and welcoming – they greeted us with coffee and water, and even gave us a ride to the airport. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and it was possible to extend our stay for a few extra hours, which was very convenient. The location is great, close to the airport and also near the beach. Highly recommended!

The hosts especially. Yelling and screaming at your guests at every moment and clearly showing everyone around that you are a nuisance in his life. It is very unwelcoming. The smell of the sewer was disturbingly strong in the room and the bed had an odd stain on it. The toilet 4 tries to flush every time. We were also given 3 keys to close 3 doors and yet we closed one front door for our safety, and apparently he did not have the key for that one. !GIANT FIRE HAZARD! We were not informed about this before our stay because he clearly didnt want us there. A short-and-sweet turned quick-and-nasty stay.
I'm speechless... Rude people... they take control of the places they go. This is a clear, spiteful review... I'll explain. I manage a two-bedroom property with a shared main entrance and shared living room. These guys, they say, for their own safety, instead of locking themselves in their rooms, decided to lock the main living room door with the inside latch... no one could get inside the property, even though I had the keys. I spent a good 15 minutes ringing, knocking, calling, and ringing the intercom... this review they wrote is dictated by their bad faith... I have two fire extinguishers... sewer smell on the second floor? Toilet flush not working? Strange... compare this review to the others I've received.

No transport too far from shops etc
The lady who rented our room is of a certain age and it is advisable that she travels accompanied by someone. At the airport with an appointment at the Terminal 3 exit she was at the Terminal 1 departures... an hour wasted looking for her. The lady did not read the layout and equipment of the rented room on booking.com and had a moment of despair, most likely due to not knowing how to deal with the slightest difficulties at her age. We have positive reviews indicating restaurants, bars and the seafront a stone's throw from our structure... For her everything was out of the way. Furthermore, she went out leaving the air conditioning on and the windows open and stained the furniture in the room with her tea cup.
