Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryThe only negative I can tell, is that Booking.com showed 6€ city tax for our stay, but we had to pay 16€ instead… (I don't want to talk against B&B Italian Guest Genova, but I have to address this somewhere, someone stole 100€'s from my wallet, and it probably happened at the accomodation, while we were away for a couple of hours. Maybe I'm mistaken, but be careful around here)
Stayed for only one night. Very clean and nice looking accomodation. Very well located, close to the train station and the seaside. All sights in the city can be quickly visited on foot. The cleaning lady was very kind and it surprised me that breakfast was included. (maybe I missed this information)

United KingdomWe didn’t like the smell of the flat, it wasn't anything bad, but it wasn't anything nice to smell either...not sure if it's a product used to clean or what that is, but it was not very nice... Also, we did pay for a room with private bathroom, but we have been told to use a shared bathroom with the other 2 rooms.
Great location, nice restaurants nearby.

FranceWhile it isolated noise from the outside, you could hear everything that was going on the inside, which could be troublesome for light sleepers. Also, this is totally out of the hotel’s control, but the area is quite sketchy, so be careful of times to go out and come in!
The bedroom was really nice and the AC did wonders here. The room is also quite large, and they only have 2 more rooms, which makes sharing the bathroom pretty seamless.

United KingdomSeveral reviewers have commented on the arrangement of the rooms i.e. that you have to go through the breakfast area to get to the bathrooms. This didn't bother us - once we got the hang of it. Gave the place a kind of 'hostel' feel and meant we chatted to our fellow travellers.
Comfortable, clean rooms in a great position close to the train station. Ideal for exploring the city of Genoa. We enjoyed the breakfast provided and access to a kettle, fridge, mugs etc. Great value, friendly accommodation.

FranceThe bathroom (toilets, sink and shower) was not in the room and you have to cross the kitchen area to get there. Not the most convenient but it's ok.

ItalyEven if the room was comfortable, it was really noisy during the night and early morning. Besides, we payed for two nights with breakfast included and we didn’t get any the second day, encountering the lady who made breakfast when we had to leave (the breakfast was offered from 7:00 to 9:00 AM and we left at 7:30, because we had to find somewhere else to eat).
It was placed in a really good location, close to the station ‘Genova Piazza Principe’ and to the port.

GermanyThe building entrance is not a good face for business, it smells bad, is dirty and looks like ruined. A different-contrasting thing when you cross the door of the B&B. The room windows face the street and there is a bus stop luminous sign that "sheds light into your dreams" at any time!! Finally, the room requires A/C desperately!!!
The place is clean and it is located right on Via Balbi, so everything is nearby. You can get very good restaurants, shops, cabs, buses, sites or trains in a short walk. They include breakfast in the rate and breakfast is quite acceptable, they provide a variety of options and do not restrict portions. The staff is attentive and helpful, they are always near if you need them.

AustriaIt's a smaller place with only 3 rooms. 2 rooms share one bathroom, and there is 1 room with a private bathroom which is not en suite. No shelves in the bathroom - I am not sure where you are supposed to put your clothes while taking a shower.
Excellent location close to the central station. If you keep the windows closed it's surprisingly quiet even though the accomodation is located on a busy street. Friendly, English speaking staff (one of the guys is hard to read, but still supportive). We were allowed to deposit our luggage without additional cost. The room was simple but has everything you need. For breakfast there was toast, yoghurt, muesli, freshly cut fruit, coffee, juice - more than you would expect in Italy.

United KingdomThe owner/man on charge made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The day before my arrival he took it upon himself to message me on WhatsApp and not on booking.com. At first he was asking about my arrival but then started asking which person I was in my WhatsApp profile photo so he knew. It all felt odd. When I arrived an hour early I was told I would need to pay €10 to put my bag in the luggage room....yet there wasn't a luggage room and the cleaner put my bag under a table in the kitchen area. I then went exploring for the day and he messaged again asking what time I would be back. Very inappropriate. Why would he need to know ? When I did arrive back that evening my key wouldn't work in the door so he buzzed me in. He was there alone and there were no other guests as far as I could see. He asked me to pay the €10 so I said can I pay card and he said no it was cash or transfer only. The transfer wouldn't work from my English account to his. So he asked me to go to the cash machine but I said no as it was late, dark and my phone battery was on 2%. So I said I would go in the morning . I then went to my room. He then came and knocked on my door. I felt extremely uncomfortable and couldn't settle. He gave me a receipt for the luggage - even though I hadn't paid at this point ?! I close the door and lock it. I could hear him outside the door for quite some time. I then received a message on WhatsApp. It was a read once photo message from him asking if I was interested in him and that he thinks I'm attractive . He said we could work out another way to pay the €10. I immediately packed up my things and left as quickly as I could. He then started sending me abusive messages from two different numbers calling me rascist. Please do not stay here. Especially if you are a female travelling alone !!!!!!!

United StatesThis is an old first floor apartment that was divided into 3 rooms. There's no nose isolation. You can hear everything happening in the house. Windows open to two busy streets. You can hear some street noise even when shut. Forget about opening them though because of people smoking outside. The worst thing was the manager. First, he accused us of stealing when we took a few breakfast items like yogurt and juice from the fridge outside of breakfast time even though nothing was said or written about it. He would not leave us until we paid the inflated prices. Then they could not find the tv remote after we checked out and also accused us of stealing. Thankfully they found it without us having to return and look for it.
In general the place is not bad. It's an old building that was recently renovated. Inside it's modern and clean. The cleaning lady was very nice. The shared bathroom was working out ok. The air-conditioning worked great. The beds were soft and comfortable. Linens and towels felt new. Breakfast was basic but ok.
