How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewFor a train/walking traveler, you do not want to stay here. It is 16euro each way to go to town. No breakfast when I was there in October. And these two very important things were not clear in the main description. I had to pay full price even as I had to leave a day early for a family emergency.

The location of the property is clearly stated in the description at the time of booking. We always recommend that future guests carefully check the location before making a reservation, especially when traveling without a car. Regarding the staff rating (2.5), we would like to point out that we were extremely helpful: I personally assisted you in planning your train tickets for your departure day, for which you even thanked me. We therefore believe that such a low rating does not reflect the effort and courtesy shown. You had booked two nights, but decided to leave early for personal reasons, asking to pay for only one. You then requested a discount, which we kindly granted to accommodate you, even though it was not required. Your reservation clearly stated “room only”, therefore breakfast was not included, as specified in the booking details. We would also like to remind you that €60 per night for a single room is an absolutely reasonable rate considering the quality and services offered. A 2.5 rating for value for money therefore seems rather unfair. We have always acted with availability, professionalism, and fairness, offering a service consistent with what was booked and with the price applied. For your future travels, we recommend checking the location of the properties more carefully before booking, to avoid any possible misunderstandings. Kind regards, Skyview

Verified review1. Breakfast: I was disappointed to hear it was unavailable from October 1st. Breakfast with this view would be fantastic. 2. Pool: I was told swimming was allowed as long as it didn't rain. The day I arrived, it was too windy to swim, but the pool water was clean and there were sunbeds, so I was disappointed I couldn't swim. 3. The room condition was also very good, especially the drying rack on the veranda in front of the room, which made it easy to do some light laundry. A coffee machine was available in the common area, and the mini-fridge in the room contained wine, soft drinks, beer, and other items, which I paid for upon checkout.
1. High location: From downtown Cefalù, you'll need to drive a bit up the mountain to reach the hotel. 2. No restaurant : There's no restaurant on site, so we recommend eating before checking in and then shopping at the supermarket before heading back to the hotel.

Verified reviewThe VIEW was amazing and worth the drive up the long, winding, narrow streets! The pool was lovely with another amazing view. There was a large patio to enjoy the views of the sea and the charming town of Cefalu. The room was comfortable and clean. And our hostess was very accommodating and communicated well. When we didn't want to drive up and down the steep streets, she arranged taxi service for us.
We didn't realize there were several rooms per pod with an indoor common area, but we didn't use this space because it was so lovely outside.

Verified reviewThe view is beautiful, but the walls in the rooms are very thin. It's hard to sleep with all the noises nearby.
You have to go to another hotel or the city center for breakfast. Unfortunately, you can hear everything going on behind the wall.

The road to get there is a bit steep, but we managed even with a very small/weak car.

Verified reviewThe view of Cefalu is absolutely stunning! Probably the best view we've ever had. Parking was also pretty easy, as there are sufficient parking spots on the premises. The apartment itself was very pretty and has everything one would expect from a hotel room, including a mini-bar with acceptable prices. The showers are really good with excellent water pressure.

Verified reviewComfortable mattress, white and clean sheets, fluffy towels, very clean room and facilities, amazing view overlooking the town and ocean, lovely pool. Perfext spot for a few relaxing days in Cefalu. Parking is included and is self.
Breakfast is not complimentary, price for 1 or 2 people is the same. Road going up is full of steep curves. Only stay here id you have a car.
