How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was fantastic. The house is beautiful, and the room, though small, was very practical and thoughtfully designed. The owners were incredibly kind and did their best to assist us, even with the language barrier. The garden was charming and beautifully decorated. We truly enjoyed our one-night stay and would absolutely recommend this place!

Verified reviewThe hosts were wonderful. Helpful. Kind. Responsive. My son has a food allergy and they even drove us to two restaurants and spoke with the staff to help us. The Hanok was clean and beautiful (see photo). We loved the small breakfast and coffee machine.

Verified reviewI highly recommend this place. The hanok was clean, equipped with all amenities. Our stay was very comfortable and gave us a feel of traditional hanok. We especially want to shout out the hosts! They went above and beyond with exceptional hospitality. The day we arrived it was late night and all restaurants were about to close. They waited for us and dropped us to a bulgogi place before it closed. It was a especially busy weekend and we could not get transport to go back to seoul on our way back. The hosts arranged bus tickets for us and taxi to bus stand. With the language barrier it would have been difficult for us to manage this on our own but they cared for us like their personal guests. We will take back good memories and unparalleled hospitality from our Korea trip.

Verified reviewThe hanok is beautiful inside and out. Its in a quiet area just a short walk from the old town and sights like the Woljeonggyo bridge and the Cheomseongdae Observatory. The hanok has everything you need: small kitchenette, comfy beds and a television. We had a simple but delicious breakfast and fresh linen each day. We slept amazingly well as the beds and pillow wer comfortable and it was super quiet at night. The bath was also HUGE and a real piece of luxury. What really made the place special was the kind and accommodating hosts. It's clear that they really care about their home and want you to make yourself comfortable. They showed us around the hanok and made sure we knew how to work the AC etc. They then also provided us with a map of the local area and highlighted all the sights. They made sure we knew where we were going and if we needed any help. It felt like nothing would be too much to ask. Would 100% come back.
Nothing. The place was perfect and amazing value for money.
Hello, I'm sorry I didn't see you off when I checked out. I'll keep the picture you left. Stay healthy and happy

We didn’t mind it, but there’s about 15 min walk to town and 10 min walk to the food street and cultural village, if you don’t travel with a car. Nice restaurants around the hanok as well.

Verified reviewHosts were lovely and very friendly. First day they gave us recommendation of places to visit and were to eat. Location was very close to the centre and the main shopping road and the main attractions of the town. In an area very peacefull, quiet and calm. Place was super neat and clean. I loved the duvet, soft and silky. Small kitchen to do your own things, breakfast (amazing bread, fruit, yoghourt and juice) was left in the fridge for next day. And a cold water dispenser which is great for the hot weather. Definetly recommend staying here.
Nothing, everything was really nice!

Verified reviewIt was an amazing stay, the place is very quiet and peaceful. Especially nice is chilling in the evening in the backyard ;) it's nicely decorated and super clean. The town is steeped in history, but you probably already know it if you decided to go to Gyeongju ;) The host has a friend Sumin, who can do a private whole day tour (a bit expensive, but very nice). The host is super welcome, all in all, after 3 days there we both feel like we visited grandma and grandpa ;)
Nothing bad, the only thing, if you are 190-200 cm high there can be a bit uncomfortable to sit in the restroom. I'm 173, it was completely fine.

Verified reviewSuch a beautiful place and lovely & kind host. Very personal. The place is beautiful and sparkling clean. The location is spot on. Close to the attractions and market, walking distance if you want to. Far enough from the crowds and traffic. It's so peaceful here. Not far from the homestay, there's a great hanok style cafe facing the tomb. Strongly recommended.
Absolutely nothing. We loved everything!
