Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had such a great stay, and I really want to give a shout-out to the staff who made the whole experience so much better. A huge thank you to Hashini, Virag, and Ashan, they were always so kind, helpful, and genuinely attentive to anything we needed. Also, Keerthi was amazing! He was super friendly and helped us get around using the club car whenever we needed to move between different places. It really made things so much easier for us. There were a couple of moments that truly showed how accommodating and thoughtful the team is. First, a tiny baby gecko somehow snuck into our room through the door, and one of my friends has a bad phobia of reptiles. The staff immediately came to help and handled the situation so calmly, making sure she felt safe and comfortable again. And then later, one of my friends wasn’t feeling well and ended up not eating all day. By the time she felt like eating, the kitchen was already closed. We asked if there was any chance of getting some food at around 11pm — and they still managed to put together exactly what she wanted: a really good burger and fries. Honestly, that meant a lot. Overall, the people here are just so kind and attentive — not because they have to be, but because they actually care. They paid attention to every little detail and made sure we were comfortable the whole time. We really appreciated everything they did for us, and we’d definitely come back again!

AustraliaNo local shops or restaurants: needed to hire a vehicle for 20m to access these.
Consistently excellent buffet meals (breakfast and dinner). Excellent staff. Big grounds meant there was plenty of quiet space away from our room.

The property itself is absolutely stunning. I could just wander through the grounds all day. Staff will go out of their way to help and engage with you. We were given room upgrades and our rooms were awesome. We travelled with children so the playground, pools, table tennis and tennis court all got a good workout. We ate at the buffet restaurant for both dinner and breakfast for our entire stay and the food was exceptional.

United KingdomFood & drink service a little slow. Meat at the evening buffet was a bit hit & miss. Pastries etc at the breakfast buffet slightly limited.
Beautiful location in wonderful grounds. Friendly & helpful staff. Pools were bliss after a hot day exploring. Buggy carts a great idea as our room was far away (thank you Dilanka ❤️) Cocktails excellent (recommend Aqua Cooler & my daughter recommends Virgin Colada) Family room was spacious, efficient AC and spotlessly clean. We loved the array of wildlife on the grounds (monkeys, snakes, lizards, birds)

AustraliaPricer but convenient food/dinner at the buffet. It would have been worth it to get the accommodation with dinner included, you are away from town.
The large grounds/estate was magical, with birds chirping, it was a real oasis. The pool was delightful and good restaurant options.

United KingdomWhen one has spent a lot of money, frustrations that one might normally overlook start to niggle. In brief: - Limited bathroom supplies such as shampoo and body wash, which were refillable dispensers fixed to the wall of the shower meaning it was impossible to use them in the bath. That seems ungenerous, given that we stayed in cheaper places that provided more, including toothbrushes, body lotion etc. - No comfy seating around the villas or cabanas, at least not in our price range. Just a very uncomfortable stone bench immediately in our porch area with no table or option for relaxing privately. - Not enough sunbeds to serve this enormous hotel and its many guests. We were among lots of disappointed guests who got to the pool area too late at the prime chilling time of 2/3pm and the 18 or so sunbeds were all taken with no extras available even though it would be so easy to have a stash laid out elsewhere on the huge grassy areas surrounding the pool. - We occasionally encountered a few too many rules and “No you can’t do that” type responses from some staff which left us feeling a bit sour. You can’t take pool towels away from the pool area (even if you promise you’ll bring them back); you can’t choose what to have in your takeaway breakfast (if you are heading off too early to enjoy the buffet); you can’t play table tennis unless you pay an extra fee (which seems excessive); no diving or even jumping in the pool, even tho it’s really deep! - There seemed to be quite a mercenary mindset that means everything is ‘chargeable’. Of course wellness treatments should be extra but is it necessary to charge over $1 for every laundry item, even undergarments? And does table tennis really need to be charged for?
Absolutely stunning place, felt very luxurious and spacious, calm and elegant. Exquisitely designed to harmonise with the nature of the surroundings. Our two cabanas were beautifully appointed and very private on the inside, each with a little sofa area and a small fridge. The pool is massive, deep and divine and there is a sort of wandering waiter who will take your order from the poolside and you can sit at the pool bar stools to drink it. The whole complex is vast, serenely beautiful and there are surprises to be found everywhere — a whole extra large swimming pool, a kids’ playground, a tennis court, treehouses... The lake setting is very picturesque and there are a couple of large swings one can sit on nearby. There is a wild elephant path running through this area too, excitingly! My favourite thing was the abundance of monkeys frolicking on the lawn outside our cabanas, drinking from the sprinklers, chattering and playing in the trees. Also - as you find everywhere in Sri Lanka - the hotel has some lovely dogs who are in better shape than lots of the strays we saw. The breakfast options were delicious (egg hopper, chicken curry, coconut sambal, fresh fruit, yogurt, Sri Lankan omelette all recommended) altho some popular items such as waffles and pancakes are only available cooked to order by just one chef meaning long queues developed around the ‘batter’ station. Worth it tho. A place this big depends on a massive team of staff, all beautifully attired and discreet. They managed to make us feel comfortable and happy with their gorgeous smiles and helpful instincts. Particular shout out to the golf buggy drivers, the egg hopper chef, the room cleaners, the pool attendants, and the breakfast waiters. They could not have been more obliging. Location-wise, it’s beautiful and peaceful, but everything, even Dambulla cave temples, was a 30min drive away. You have to drive along a narrow road around the lake in order to get here.

We had 3 days here and stayed as a family in a suite. The location was great to explore all the sights in the area. Sigiriya, The cave temple, Anuradhapura Ancient City etc The hotel was amazing. It has a large ground with beautiful garden/ park out to Amya lake and many cozy places where you can sit in the shade and enjoy the view including swings and tree top houses. 2 great pool areas with view. The restaurant serves excellent food and was able to cater for food allergies for us (nut allergies). The service was outstanding by everyone there, the cleaners, reception, restaurant etc. We wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend!

United Arab EmiratesRoom (303) needs some refurbishment. The bathroom door handle came off in night one but was fixed the next day. The shower door did not close properly so we had to be careful when showering and we had a lot of ants in our room. The pool area could also do with some modernisation but it was sufficient for our stay.
Location was perfect for our stay in Dambulla and to be able to visit Sigiriya, Minneriya National Park and Pidurangula. Stayed half board and food on both evenings including the breakfast was good with live cooking stations. Restaurant is open-air so it was nice to be sat outside and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Hotel has buggies to take you back and forth to your room if required. My daughter rented a bike and enjoyed cycling around the grounds.
