Great accommodation in Hikkaduwa. The host went above and beyond to make our stay as good as possible. The breakfast is of the highest standard and rooms extremely comfortable.

Soorya Kala was our last stop after a 4 week tour of Sri Lanka. It was by far the nicest accomodation we stayed in. Right on the beach with a beautiful pool, rooms are lovely and spacious and very comfortable. Lovely breakfast prepared fresh every morning, try the Sri Lankan option it was divine. The one thing that stands out about this property is the amazing staff, they are so helpful always smiling, nothing was ever a problem. If you are travelling to Hikkaduwa stay here, you won't regret it.

Just a wish - a mini-fridge in the room could have been handy to keep drinks chilled :)

Everything was just perfect, the place is cosy and rocks in style at the same time. Location is literally a step away from the beach, great view from the window & balcony. Special kudos go to Kevin who went extra mile to made us feel welcome, he also cooked delicious breakfast and was charming to chat with! Definitely will come back!

That we had to leave!

Everything. The villa is brand new, elegantly designed, directly on the beach, close to everything but quiet. The rooms are comfortable and we slept excellently. The pool is a godsend during the warmest hours. The real highlight however was the staff: while barebones compared to similar other places we’ve been to on the island, they’re attentive and precise, and never intrusive. We had the luck of basically having the whole villa to ourselves for three days, and we had an amazing time. Breakfasts were divine (take the Sri Lankan options!), and we were even shown how to make egg hoppers. We had a wonderful time and we were genuinely sad about leaving.

Amazing place to stay! We had a lovely time staying at this accommodation. You can walk from the garden to the ocean and snorkel there as well. The breakfast was also really good, all made fresh for you. Also around the property are different restaurants which are in walking distance.

Nothing - it was all excellent.

Everything was exceptional. Recently opened villa, run by a local family which made our stay extra special. Beautifully designed, with lots of attention to detail, and feels like a calm and relaxing place. The manager/owner Nagulan gave us great tips on the area and was very responsive to anything we needed. Breakfasts are delicious with local and western options, and some of the best local food we had while there. Hikkaduwa is a great town with sea based activities. Hope to return to Soorya Kala!

We stayed 4 nights at Soorya Kala and it was a wonderful experience. If you are looking for an environment that offers the best of Sri Lanka, this is the place. The breakfast was delicious-some of the best cuisine we’ve ever had. Everything was fresh and homemade with love and exceptional culinary finesse. From the property you have direct acces to the beach area as well as the sea. If we're ever visiting the south coast again, we'll be sure to stop again. Thanks for a great experience!

It was delightful! It was the first time my wife and I visited Soorya Kala and we had absolutely no regrets. The rooms were clean and stylish, every day we had such an amazing cleaning service as if we were checking into a new room every day. Perosnal was very courteous to all our requests. During our vacation we felt like we were on a paradise island. Individual breakfasts, amazing view of the ocean from the room. In general, it is difficult for us to describe in words how much we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. You must try it.

We had a wonderful stay! The rooms are beautifully designed, and the entire property – including the pool and garden – is tastefully decorated with great attention to detail. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the very beginning. With only four rooms, the atmosphere is intimate and peaceful. The beach is right at the doorstep, offering great snorkeling and diving opportunities, while the lush garden and pool provide a perfect retreat from the lively shore. A true oasis of tranquility – we would come back anytime!

This place is just perfect.

We had the best experience with Soorya Kala in Sri Lanka. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the breakfast was fantastic, offering a variety of both local and western options. Communication was excellent, and our wonderful host was incredibly helpful with everything related to our stay. The room was beautiful, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated, while the hotel itself was elegantly designed with great attention to detail. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, making it a perfect place to relax. The hotel is located right on the beach with easy access, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, as well as banks, spa and a diving school. We will be happy to stay here again and recommend this place for everyone.

Absolutely nothing at all

Beautiful architecturally designed space, breezy even when hot outside, lovely pool and a gate onto the beach with a reef and swimming area. The common areas are lovely, the rooms modern and cosy, and there’s a rooftop space for lounging with views out to sea. The chefs are excellent and the meals were the best we had in SL. The host Nagulan is lovely and interesting and engaging and they went out of their way to make my birthday feel special. We had an amazing stay

On the first day we rented snorkeling equipment from a shop next to the accommodation. We paid 500 rupees for 3 hours, which is really fair. The host told us, he also has snorkeling equipment for us to use, why we took that for our second day. At the end of our stay we had to pay 5000 rupees for the equipment, which equals 17 USD! We should have asked for the price before... Our most expensive hour of snorkeling.

The accommodation is awesome. Staff is excellent, the rooms are very spacious and clean, breakfast is good and the location is perfect, directly at the beach.

No hairdryer in the room or to borrow which for that price point there should be. An extra small towel per guest would be useful.

We absolutely loved the stay, I can't recommend it enough! Everything here is amazing, the place has been done tastefully and the rooms are spacious. The location of the stay is pretty good, right at the beach, diving schools right next door and turtle beach is very nearby. You can also walk to the restaurants and shops. They serve an amazing breakfast with a good number of choices. They'd even keep the breakfast for you to consume later if you aren't available around the morning time. The owners and the staff are genuinely the sweetest and will make sure that you are having a comfortable stay. They went an extra mile and made our breakfast special on my husband's birthday by offering an additional sweet Sri Lankan dish!

I think the price is just a little bit too high.

Delicious breakfasts. The team is very nice. The room is spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view on the ocean. Everything is very clean. Their is a terrasse on the top to watch the sunset. The location is good, you have dive shops, restaurants and shops nearby.

Could have had a fridge in the room and some sunbeds by the pool. As well as working wifi, had some issues with it on the 2nd floor.

Awesome place. Nice spot by the beach. Staff was very friendly and everything was smooth. All in all, I can really recommend this place if you want to enjoy Hikkaduwa in some peace and serenity.
