Nothing in particular, just mentioned that bed linen could be upgraded and more ventilation for the bathroom + note that Villa Joy is a bit far from the center, count around 30’ tuktuk and the last part of the road to get there is super bumpy

Absolutely amazing stay with Sakura and her team at Villa Joy. The property and rooms are beautiful and the views breathtaking … Sakura was so helpful in providing recommendations for local activities and arranging transport etc. The food was 5 star made even better by the fact that the topical fruits and vegetables they served are all growing around you at the property, Can’t recommend highly enough - a magical place to stay

Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip. The place is surrounded by stunning nature, and the peace and quiet made it feel like a little paradise. We instantly felt at home thanks to the warm hospitality of the owners and staff — such kind and genuine people. Every morning we woke up to the sound of birds and the fresh mountain air, and every evening ended in perfect calm. For the last part of the road the staff accomodated us with a tuktuk because we wouldnt be able to use pur car. Tuk was waitong for us and the owner made sure we had parking so it went smooth. Dont try to come by car, its very bumpy and the owner will set tuk for you.

Very nice view, clean room. Very relaxing. Nive and accomodating staff. Bathroom looked reall cool and the terrace was awesome. Just nature around, quite remote. Good breakfast.

Nothing at all. Everything was perfect. The view was unforgettable – so beautiful you can’t even describe it. We loved every moment.

The breakfast was amazing – fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. Every morning felt special with such a lovely meal. It was well-prepared and made with care. We looked forward to it every day! The view is absolutely stunning – breathtaking hills, mountains, and even waterfalls in the distance. It’s hard to put into words how beautiful it is. Just sitting and looking out at the landscape was one of the best parts of the stay. Truly unforgettable!

If I had to be super critical, the only slightly challenging part was the last 2 kilometer stretch of the road leading up to the property, it’s a bit bumpy. That said, it seems to be a common issue in that particular area, and the host did mention that all the nearby resorts and hotels have collectively raised the concern with the local authorities. Hopefully, a smoother drive is on the horizon soon. To be honest though, once you reach the villa, any bumps along the way are completely forgotten. The destination is more than worth the journey.

From the moment we booked, the host was in constant touch, guiding us with directions, arranging tuk-tuks, and making sure we reached safely. That level of care set the tone for the entire experience. Waking up each morning to mist-kissed hills and sipping tea on the balcony with that view, it felt like time slowed down. The room was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully designed with earthy aesthetics that made us feel connected to the nature around us. Every corner of the villa had a quiet charm to it. The hospitality here is the kind that stays with you, warm, personal, and always one step ahead. Early breakfast? Done. Local recommendations? Spot on. Need anything at all? It’s sorted before you can ask. You don’t just stay at Villa Joy, you’re genuinely cared for. And the food - homey, flavorful, and made with love. It felt less like a hotel and more like visiting an old friend who just happens to have great taste and an even better view. This wasn’t just a stay; it was an experience. - breathtaking view - you can open the windows wide open in front of the bed and watch the sunrise and sunset from it - the most welcoming owner and people (they even helped me to fix our car) - you feel like you're in the middle of a tropical garden - best sri lankan breakfast with local tea - everything was clean! - super comfortable bed - if we could we would extend the stay. It was that memorable.

The location is stunning, but it’s about a 30-minute drive from Ella on a very rough road, which makes it hard to reach. Be prepared to pay extra for transportation, especially if you book a transfer through hotel.

Amazing villa with stunning views, modern and beautiful design, perfectly clean and fresh. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the manager was always there to assist with anything we needed to make our stay comfortable — highly recommended!
