Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainToilet facilities were a little outdated (the water took a long time to refill and didn't always properly flush).
Staff very friendly, we were welcomed by the owner and the staff very warmly. Breakfast was nice and the room was really great! We asked for some extras for our 10th anniversary and the owner obliged us and took care of everything.

IrelandI would say over priced for what you get.
It is in a quiter part of town but not difficult to get to any of the main attractions. It was quite at night meaning it was easy to sleep.

Germany-The towels have definitely seen better days. -You had to hold the shower head in your hand, because the holder on the wall was broken. - For breakfast you get instant Coffe without milk, also no butter. - I ended up paying a couple euros more, because they use an old Euro/Dirham exchange rate (12 DH/€ instead of 10,8) in their favour. If you stay one night, thats not much, but it is not fair for the customer and should be pointed out before. Some people might not care about such details, but in this price range there will probably be better options, depending on what your priorities are.
As for my stay: the room is nice and I liked the location, because it is quiet, close to the medina and because it feels very original.

LatviaSomehow this place holds a very united energy. That would be the main benefit, apart of very good value for that price! Because rooms were spacious and breakfast was nice! All the people that you will meet (that work and live there) - are trying their best.

Thailandthe area is a little sketchy but that’s part of the experience! the completely keyless approach may not be for everybody . but after 5 days in two separate stays I found it curiously liberating. so really nothing wrong, just different!
the host Michel was super friendly knowledgeable and kind, going above and beyond to make my stay great. sometimes the people make all the difference!

the location, the friendly host guiding us and helping us to discover Marrakesh, the attention for detail (e.g. enough towels, a tissue box in the room and other small stuff), and spacious rooms with a sofa, and the lovely terrace.

United KingdomA small point but the fixed 9 am breakfast on the roof terrace became a little 'crowded' . When the house is, deservedly, at capacity, maybe Michel could make better use of his staff in order to spread the delivery.
Ideal location, knowledgeable and welcoming host, large, comfortable room and bed with kettle and hairdryer. Shared bathrooms and showers all immaculate and in good working order. Great view from roof terrace. Adequate breakfast and WiFi.

ItalyThe location is 10 minutes by walk from the city center, so it's perfect. However, there were many locals engaging with us anytime we went out and that was a bit disappointing. Also, the continuous stares we received made us a bit uncomfortable. But we never felt in danger whatsoever. Camera and police officers are everywhere
Michel was incredibly available in suggesting locations to visit, restaurants, and so on. He gave us plenty of tips and tried his best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The "dar" is cozy and pretty

IndonesiaThe bed was hard as rock and the internet was slow. The guest didn't have spare key so we must knock everytime and somebody has to send us off to close the door.

FranceThis is a very nice place to stay, super clean, nicely decorated, safe, secure, and quiet. It is walking distance from the traditional market and main tourist sites. There is a two-tier roof top veranda, where breakfast is served and guests can hangout. The real star of the show however, is Michel the owner (the hotel is named after one of his daughters). He is simply fantastic, really helpful, and knowledgeable. He speaks excellent English, Swedish, and other languages too. I stayed there with my family of four and we would stay again.

AustraliaRoom was not deluxe. 2x3 metres, no window. No wifi signal inside. Most importantly no Aircon as advertised. Staff were rude and problematic and made me very uncomfortable when I complained about the poor quality of the room and no air-conditioning.

CanadaNo window in the small room, with noisy locks and a huge key chain (that barely fit in my purse). Basically it is a small step up from a hostel, as you will share a bathroom (with up to 6 other people) and you can hear your beighbours comings and goings. Breakfast was good but off-site, which was a bit annoying. It is quite overpriced given the shared bathroom, size of the room (about 3 feet beside the bed, is all the space you get) and the lack of a window.
The upstairs sundeck was nice. The bed and linens were comfortable. There was a hairdryer and a fan. There was some nice art in the room.
