How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOur room was nice. It was clean; it was spacious yet cozy. The traditional Moroccan salads and dishes were delicious and generous albeit limited and quite often repeated in choice. The personnel are very pleasant. The GM, David, and the Concierge,(Reynald), are treasures. They are very attentive to the guests; all requests are quickly addressed, they are both warm individuals who clearly care about their guests' experiences.
The property needs A LOT of attention. It's very run down. The outdoor furniture is old, torn, and in poor condition. The walkways are chipped and crumbling. The Jardins (Gardens) d'Issil are not green flowery gardens like the pictures, but instead dirt gardens. The majority of the vegetation is dead. The greenery was a main reason we chose this property. The cost of food and drink onsite is outrageous: be prepared to pay 150dh (~$15) for 1 oz (30ml) of alcohol. This is the small side of a shot pourer "pony shot," and not the normal pour. There's no potable water provided, even during meals - each bottle of water is 30dh ($3); with the average daily temp at 37c (98 F) hydration is a requirement. It's unacceptable not to offer potable water at least at mealtimes. The site says there is a Hammam; it's an extra charge and there isn't anyone to man it. There isn't a single TV onsite that works; they don't have a service contract in place. The AC in the room is not reliable. It works fine on occasion, but shuts off and will not turn on again on others. The site says they accept credit cards - they DO NOT. This was communicated via text the night before we were to check in. Be prepared to bring cash or to do a wire transfer at check out. The owner of this establishment has clearly either run into financial troubles or decided not to maintain this property.
Dear Patrick, We thank you for your comment, which overall seems rather positive, since despite your remarks, you appear to have enjoyed your stay. Regarding the vegetation, unfortunately in Marrakech we are facing a severe drought and a shortage of water. Our resources are therefore primarily dedicated to supplying water to our rooms, kitchen, etc., as well as for the maintenance of the swimming pool. Once the rains return, we will once again be able to water the entire estate and restore it to the appearance shown on our website (the photos of which were taken only last May), except for the areas currently being transformed into dry gardens, similar to those found in other particularly arid regions. As for the 30ml servings of alcohol, we would like to remind you that this is in line with what is customary in most countries (particularly in Europe) for similar pricing. It is true that we do not offer free mineral water during meals, just like the vast majority of hotels around the world. We also do not provide televisions in the rooms, and this is clearly stated. This is in order to meet the request of most of our guests, who come here seeking peace and tranquility, away from the noise of the world. Lastly, we do indeed have a hammam and a spa. We remind you that a therapist is present on site every day. It is therefore inaccurate to say that there is no one to look after these services. Furthermore, as everywhere in the world, hammams and massages are of course not complimentary. In summary, our services are consistent with standard hospitality practices. We hope, despite these few remarks, to have the pleasure of welcoming you again at Les Jardins d’Issil Marrakech, outside the period of drought. Kind regards,

Verified reviewThe pool was wonderful
The food. The property needed some money spent on it to tidy it up cushions were old and it was all a little shabby this hotel needs modernising and a lick of paint. Sadly we also had some local cats urinate in our room so we were moved twice.
Dear Andrew, Thank you for your message. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. However, please note that our outdoor restaurant, swimming pool, and all surrounding areas were fully renovated just a month ago in order to offer an even more enjoyable experience to our guests. The ongoing enhancement works are continuing. Our bar has also been recently renovated, and the gardens are currently being transformed into dry gardens to meet the challenges of climate change. Regarding the cats, our teams did their utmost to ensure your accommodation met the expected standards, and the animals are now kept away from both private and communal areas. We sincerely hope you will not hold this against us and that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you again for a future stay, during which you will be able to discover the transformations. Kinks regards, Front office

Verified reviewa very lovely & peaceful place... With beautiful gardens and the idea about rooms designed as tents/caves makes it even more special! Our room was very pretty , the bed was large and comfortable, there was even a seating area. Visited with my little daughter it was her birthday trip. The staff were absolutely amazing, attentive, helpful and friendly. They even made a surprise for my daughter, left a present, sweets and a letter in our room🩷 every single one was so nice and made our holiday perfect. Definitely highly recommend to everyone and wish we could return. Thank you from Cindy and Lea

Verified reviewLes Jardins D’Issil is an oasis of calm and tranquility in the desert just beyond Marakesh. It is a family run hotel and spa with caring staff who go out of their way to accommodate your every need. The rooms/tents are stunning with extremely comfortable beds, the pool is just the right temperature and large enough to swim a few lengths. The grounds and facilities are clean and well kept although there are some signs of age. Despite this you will not be disappointed. The hotel is utterly charming. Breakfasts are usually a Moroccan feast which kept us going all day. Evening meals are available, again Moroccan dishes which are tasty, generous in size and presented well for a reasonable cost. For those who like to drink alcohol there is a draft beer facility and local Moroccan wine is available. The hotel is situated off a main road out of Marakesh and is not easy to find so if you’re hiring a car make sure you download the Waze satnav app and have plenty of data. Without these two things I can guarantee you’ll get lost! Google maps gets very confused in this area! All in all this hotel provided us with a wonderful place to stay and tour from and we will certainly return.

Verified reviewStaff are friendly, and tried their best to help guests.
It is in the middle of no where, guests must rent a car otherwise taxis would scams you and difficult to arrange taxis. Breakfast is very basic and same every day( no fixed timetable), we tried to have lunch and dinner, food is ok, but at least 6 cats is in the dining place and jump on table to grabs food from plate. They accept only cash or transfer to European bank account ( no credit card accepted) i hardly see any other guests while staying 5days there.( early June). We went to attend a marriage, and had hard time paying a lots to taxis because of the location is very remote.

"Absolutely unacceptable dining experience at this hotel. The food was mediocre at best and the prices were exorbitant. On top of that, they only accepted cash which added to the frustration. I am extremely unhappy with the service and do not recommend it to anyone."

Verified reviewFriendly staff, great room (loved the tent), food was OK (some of it made with too much sugar, but they adjusted that for us the days after.
Communal areas a bit dilapidated in areas (chair cushions frayed, floor surrounding pool cracked and shedding paint). In room shower head fixture broken so you had to hold it in hand. In any case small things which didn't really impact our holiday feeling or enjoyment.
