How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI loved it! Every single corner was stunning. Very beautifully decorated and designed. The rooms are a bit small for two and, even you get to have your space, it’s a bit limited. However, is still comfortable to stay in. They have a beautiful swimming pool and they give you towels in case you don’t have any, which is a nice gesture. They also have boarding games, pool and a lot of space to stay around. The hosts are very kind and friendly, and the staff there are genuinely nice.
The only small issue was that the shower drained a bit slowly and sometimes would get the whole bathroom wet. On the other hand, I think it’s a bit more limiting to get there without a car, so I’d recommend to rent one to move freely. (but that’s just my preference, I’m sure you can get there without a taxi!)

Verified reviewWe only stayed for one night but we regret not staying more. The Riad is big, clean and beautiful with very clean rooms, looks better than pictures. The owners and everyone there are very friendly and the breakfast was delicious.

Verified reviewWe really recommend a stay at Riad Ghazal. It was very tidy and clean. We had our own bathroom and enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool. The breakfast was very good and everyone was lovely. You can also play pool billard at the riad.
Nothing! Everything was great!

Verified reviewBeware – you might not get the room you booked. I reserved a room weeks in advance, but when we arrived, we were told it was double-booked. The owner claimed it was a mistake, yet we weren’t informed until check-in—too late to find an alternative. That’s not professional or ethical. While we received a refund for the price difference, that’s not what I needed—I just wanted the room I booked. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but there were multiple issues that left a bad impression. The riad itself is nicely decorated, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the Wi-Fi speed was decent. They have a small pool table, but the room is too tight to enjoy playing—it’s more kid-sized. Also, there’s nothing to do outside the riad; it’s surrounded by construction sites.

Verified reviewA beautiful riad providing a calm and tranquil setting after a few hectic days in Marrakech. Warm welcome from our helpful and charming hosts. Good location near Essaouira and surrounding beaches, all a short drive away. Very good value for money.
The mattress was a bit too soft for our liking. There is a lot of building going on in the town so the surroundings are not very picturesque but the riad itself is lovely.

Verified reviewArrived here from Marrakesh... the long-way... with some 5 hours in the saddle. Bit of a bugger to find from the road using Google Maps initially... but easy when you know how... and look for the signs! However the hospitality was overwhelming with a "bikers beverage of choice" and a quick brief of the Riad and room facilities... Jamal and Kati made me feel very welcome indeed. Great accommodation and very secure parking for many bikes. The room was excellent with great en-suite facilities. The shower was hot and powerful... great for my aches and pains! The bed was big and comfortable. Although they didn't offer dinner the french restaurant they recommended was tres magnifique... and only 400m from the accommodation. The sunset "beverage" on the terrace was idyllic... no noise... just birdsong! I slept like the dead and woke to a magnificent breakfast on the patio overlooking the pool... I did not want to leave! Again I would stay here every time I come to the west coast of Morocco... and despite not being in Essaouira... its in Ghazoua... about 8km outside... its worth it for the peace and tranquility... and that restaurant up the road! I really didn't want to leave... but Casablanca was calling! But to any travellers... especially bikers... for me, it doesn't get any better than this for a weary traveller to rest! to Jamal and Kati... Thank you... Shkran... Tanmirt... Merçi... Je suis Mouchè... ton ami!
What didn't I like... having to leave! :)

Verified reviewThe staff and service was very friendly. Very good and rich breakfast. Fresh orange juice, coffee or tea, some fruits, jams, amlou, argan oil, olives, baguette, morokkain pancakes and changing sweets.
The property is surrounded by a lot of dirt in the middle of nowhere. Not a nice view.

Verified reviewMy stay at this Riad in Essaouira was absolutely incredible! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the most wonderful, friendly, and warm staff who made me feel completely at home. The cleanliness of the Riad was impeccable, and the delightful fragrance that filled the air added a special touch to the experience. The adorable cats roaming around were such a joy and made the atmosphere even more charming. The highlight, however, was the delicious Moroccan breakfast – it was 100% authentic and simply fantastic. This Riad truly captures the essence of Moroccan hospitality, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Essaouira!

Verified reviewThis place is magnificent. Everything just been renovated to european standards and it's decorated with style. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. So much so in fact that we believed that we were allowed more that was actually the case. Caused a little bit of a stressful situation for all of us but in the end, both parties agreed that it was a misunderstanding. I do not recommend to visit with young children (todlers) unless your children are perfectly behaved. We didn't look for one moment and my nephew ruined a cushion... The owner was understanding enough to turn a blind eye to it. It's close tp the "km 8" where you can find artisans work for a reasonnable price.
Pool was cold as ice! :P
