How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA bit difficult to find the location, no one really understood English so we were left wandering for about an hour before we could find the property.

Verified reviewSince the location is outside the city, you will end up paying a lot to taxis, effectively making it an expensive place to stay. The house was a bit hard to locate. I couldn't find the pool anywhere near the house! The nearby restaurants have poor reviews and have huge waiting times. The lady who was in charge of the house was scrolling though facebook/instagram in full volume, while we were trying to relax a bit in bed.

Verified reviewNice living room, has a kitchen, convenient parking, good heating in the room!
Very soft mattresses that make your back ache, no breakfast, somewhat small bedroom space.

Verified reviewIt's a self service accomodation, i.e., it does not have any staff. After booking you are given a code to unlock the key holder at the door and pick up the key for the front door and for your assigned room. Downstairs you will find a kitchen and a lounge area. Up the stairs there's the rooms and a small terrace. The Riad is located within a closed condominium near Bab Aylan. To enter the condominium you need to show the security guard your booking with the Riad and present passports. You are given a paper that will allow you to get in and out the gatted premises. Within the premises you'll find several restaurants and grocery shops with very reasonable prices. It is an excelente place to stay if you bring your own car or a rented one. The medina is across the street and place Jmaa El-Fnaa about 30 min walking.

Verified reviewBefore I travelled to Marrakech I didn't really understand what a Riad was, but basically it's like a big 3 storey townhouse and there are hundreds of them around Marrakech. This one was part of a residential complex with gates and security, but this is commonplace (as per my taxi driver), so don't worry you're staying somewhere unsafe! This complex was just outside the big Medina wall, so it only took about 30/40 minutes to get into the centre. My airport taxi driver helped me find the property as it was night time and I was tired! My room was on the 2nd floor, I think the other 2 rooms were unoccupied so I had the whole house to myself. Kitchen and Living area were lovely but I didn't have time to use them as I was only there 2 nights and out sight seeing the entire time! I felt safe there as a lone traveller. The host communicated very well with instructions about where to find the key etc. My room was traditional and I slept very well. I'd definitely come back and stay here again. Thankyou for a lovely stay :)

Verified reviewLoved the location, Felt very safe, people are very friendly and helpful. Good cafes nearby. Really enjoyed getting the local bus to the Medina (only 3dhs).
Not the best if your'e a light sleeper. Building is a bit of an echo chamber but not much can be done about that. :0)

Verified reviewIts in a secluded area which is nice and quiet
Got woken up at 01:30 in the night by someone constantly ringing the doorbell and banging on the door shouting “open the door!” Went on for about 20 mins. Turned out to be another guest, but it’s unacceptable that there’s someone that wants to check in (but can’t because there’s no reception or a person from the riad in the building) and he’s waking up all the other guests by banging and demanding to open the door. Also our check in was weird, since there was no one at the door en we found the keys in a unlocked keybox. WiFi didn’t work very well and the bathroom is very dark.
we are sorry for this incident, in fact if this person knocked on the door it was someone who closed the door from the inside thus preventing them from entering to return to their room...this person had gone out to dinner with their wife and on his return it was impossible for him to enter....I understand that he is knocked on the door I think that you would have done the same thing...this is not a hotel with a receptionist there is a person who does the check-in that you saw showing you your room...as for the shower light if a bulb needed to be replaced you could have reported it we would have replaced it we are here for that.. ..the keys in the box are like all riads without reception and at the inhabitant's house....Sincerely
