How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNothing
The room was not clean at all upon arrival, dust everywhere and there was a broken glass under the bed for a few days. The toilet sometimes didn’t flush. We also had to deal with a clogged shower due to hair. The bathroom was full of hair as well. The internet was also not great. At check-in we had issues because they didn’t accept Visa, even though we booked the room with Visa and our bank details were provided when booking. Yet, we were forced to pay in cash. Breakfast is the same every day and therefore very limited. Also, the portions are small.
Frankly, if the comment is anonymous, we completely understand who it comes from. We fully expected to be, once again and I hope for the last time, unduly sanctioned. This year in Marrakech, tourism plummeted in June and was catastrophic in July. To try to survive, we slashed prices with a targeted discount for the month of August. Obviously, we didn't expect to be "full" that month. But by rare misfortune and against all odds, in the very first days of August, three of our staff members fell ill at the same time. We were completely helpless to cope with the torrent of reservations taking advantage of this strategic discount. It is clear that the clientele in August this year is worthy of Tintin in the Congo! Nothing was rational with a 40% to 50% discount, despite our efforts to ensure our work with a reduced team in the first days of the month. No empathy, they forgave us nothing with surprising and incomprehensible aggression. This unforeseen situation is evident in the comments and ratings: 4 4 1 1 etc. for a week. Unheard of at Ryad Laârouss in its 15 years of existence. But let's get back to this guest who arrived at the riad on the night of August 3rd with a reservation for 14 nights. He booked a double room usually at 72 euros with a 43% discount for 38 euros. Upon arrival, he spent an hour procrastinating with the night porter in charge of check-in because he didn't want or didn't have a credit card! After an hour of talking, he finally paid in cash. Then we don't know why he started harassing the riad staff for two days. Faced with their inertia in asking for a little logic, I admit that we must have gotten a little angry before calm returned. But it paid off. Afterwards they remained discreet and very happy every day with ostensible satisfaction enjoying the pool every day and I don't know what else in Marrakech. But please I won't receive this kind of clientele next year even if it means closing the riad next August. No more Moorish invasion in the land of the Moors in August 2026!!! Quality, respect and tranquility first.

Verified reviewLocation was good
You can hear the adjoining rooms and other guests phone alarms going off. The windows are wood and have no sound proofing. They do not clean the rooms during the stay. Some staff are more helpful than others.
This month of August 2025 is a real disaster! We are exceptionally offering a 40 to 50% low season discount and instead of receiving thanks, we are unexpectedly and unusually experiencing the types of negative comments that we do not experience in other months. It is true that we are handicapped by the sick leave of two of our best leading employees, but that does not explain this incredible tsunami of criticism since the first of August. Now, for two days, these stupid comments with a demeaning rating that unfairly damages our brand image have been posted anonymously by this type of clientele who fear no longer being accepted at Ryad Laârouss as advertised. This new behavior of August tourism in Marrakech seriously motivates us to consider closing the riad in August 2026, because we see no other option to avoid the unfair destruction of our reputation, which thrives the other eleven months of the year. It's a shame it's come to this, but it seems inevitable if this deterioration continues. It's best to close and wait for the storm to pass...

Verified reviewIt was our first time staying at a Riad so we're not sure what to expect. The riad and the room has a certain charm to it. The room and the bathroom was old though and needs some upgrade. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. The terrace has good views of the city. The staff were absolutely nice and helpful. The location was great, very close to the souk.
The room and bathroom need a bit of an upgrade.

Verified reviewThe location was close to the square Jamaa El Fna, the Ryad was safe, the service was nice, the rooms were quite clean and tidy, you could say that the decor was fabulous and in a Moroccan style. The only thing I didn't like was the breakfast, it was very poor, I was unlucky because I only managed to eat pancakes and buns once and drink juice because at the time I went out for breakfast there was no one in the kitchen (the lady probably went out for fresh products) and the light in the room was very weak, for me it was a feat to do something by the mirror and I needed the help of a flashlight on my phone, but apart from the breakfast and the light, the Ryad was worth the price and the stay, you definitely have to be prepared for the lack of windows, but that's the charm of this place.

Verified reviewThe location is really good. It is next to good restaurants and souk. Walking distance to almost everything.
Sheets were not property washed, internet was intermittent at the third floor, pool was freezing, and aircondition was so hot.
To say: "On our first day, we were welcomed with foul smell from the room. I realized it was the blanket and bed sheets (smelled)" it is full mistake and 100% defamation as we guaranteed the cleanliness at the ryad and as Michelle did not realize what it was going on about her own bag. The true is the blanket cover was a little bid washes out and the color let maybe think about something like not clean. But in the same time, she forgot to specify, that like to be convenient we changed all the sheet that was all ready clean. Before all that, we send an automatic message in 9 languages that it looks like Michelle never read. Anyway we regret these wrong experience and we hope very much for welcoming her in a new brand way. Welcome to Ryad Laârouss for this next adventure.

Verified reviewStaff were outstanding, friendly, professional, and always ready to help. A special thanks to the night receptionist, who was both attentive and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. The housekeeping team did an excellent job; our room was perfectly made up every day. The morning staff provided a delicious breakfast that was the perfect way to start each day. The hotel itself is in a great location, with excellent facilities and great value for money. We would definitely stay here again.
Wi fi didn’t work in the room. The small fridge needed a bit of TLC, no shampoo in the room, no card payment.
Melissa you stay 4 days in accommodation and you ask for shampoo once you leave, thru review ? How can we give you shampu now ? About WI-FI you shound'nt touch the accès point for tryaing to plug in wire adsl computeur. When you leave we needed to fix it. Now we confirm it is working again. The small fridge is working very well now too. Anyway, thanks for your stay, welcome to Ryad Laârouss...

Verified reviewThe location was great, nice walk through the small narrow street to the main Madina Square. Breakfast was very good an filling and set you up for the day. Our main room on the top floor was very good and quiet. The 2nd single room was at the front and was a little bit nosy but not too bad. The rood top terraces gave excellent view around the the city and great for sunset. (Probably sunrise as well but we never got up their that early). Nice over night staff. Room was cleaned daily. The place offered a taste of Morroco. Would recommend.
Nothing really.

Verified reviewThe Moroccan style is amazing and so beautiful. The rooftop had really nice views. The location in the medina was great and not hard to find at all. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I love the pool even though we didn’t go in because the water was chilly but I’m sure it’s great in the summer time.
