Cheap place with comfortable beds that have little curtains around them (love that!) It's only a short walk to the station, from which it's in turn a short train ride to Eindhoven. Free basics provided, such as tea bags which I really appreciated. Due to the concept, guests were actually quiet, which is what I usually find does not happen in other hostels! Will most likely stay here again in the future.

Facilities are made for really tall people, so a bit harder to use for smaller people like me. No door for the shower 'room', just a curtain so as a woman alone I did not feel comfortable to use it. No towels or hand soap provided, so do remember to bring your own!

Cheap and quiet - that was ideal for me, staying just one night on my own. Three other people were there that evening, and they were all friendly, and very quiet at night. Frank came by to welcome me and the other new guest. A very friendly and open person. Thank you Frank for this opportunity!

Of course, one should not expect big luxury for such a low price. And, as other reviews have mentioned, one has to answer some questions about cleaning etc. during the booking process. However, I think that's understandable, and not too big of an effort.

    Property response:

Thanks for your feedback Annemieke. Only some people say it's not an effort to answer my questions. But these are the people that are used to taking good care of themselves and therefore cooperate with others. This usually creates a relaxed atmosphere although now there was one guest who had problems with my spiderwebs 😃

The price is excellent for what you get and the owner, Frank, is very friendly and talkative. Also, it is 10 minutes away from the Helmond train stop, which is 10 minutes away from Eindhoven Central Station, so you can manage to be in Eindhoven in 20 minutes. I would recommend it for sure.

Maybe some areas could be a little cleaner, but I guess that the self-sufficiency style of the hostel implies that you are aware of that so that you manage to do it by yourself. If you don't like it, just go somewhere else (much more expensive).

    Property response:

Excellent feedback Iñaki. You're right, the place is as clean as you keep it and I also believe in the value of building a strong immune system. Thanks

First of all let me inform you that this is the best value for money that I have experienced so far in my travels. With that value comes an honourable contract with Frank that you will look after everything according to his specifications. If we all do our best to put everything back in its place of origin, keep the limescale and any other residues at bay by drying everything after we have used it, treating each other with respect and communication, anyone can enjoy immense value for money and learn from reciprocation and co-operation. It goes without saying that there are opportunities to meet lots of different people at a hostel and that's exactly what I was able to experience here. As many older and wiser people have told me before "Life is what you make of it." This is a prime example - put in a bit of conscientiousness and care and receive the same as well as incredible cost effective living that is mutually supportive (of course we can all make mistakes too, but it is the attitude of care that matters). Well done Frank! Keep going and I hope others will appreciate what you are offering. P.S. Your art in the hallway dispelled many of my otherwise occupied moments and made the stay very enjoyable too.

Nothing to say here really. It is an experience for particular people who are suited for this. When Frank emails you with guidelines about how it all works, you are getting exactly "What it says on the Tin." If you don't like it / or want it and the considerable benefits that it entails, then it is not for you.

    Property response:

Great feedback Steve, I have nothing to add. 😊

    - lockers and enough space for luggage - host is friendly and helps with anything - location is very convenient

    - the place is quite dirty, there were spiderwebs and questionable spots in a lot of spaces, the shower curtain was moldy, and the general smell reminded me of a wet basement. Also, my bed had fingernail clips, hair, and dirt on it when I arrived... - I saw a rat running around the garden quite close to the dorm, which scared us to open the door to let fresh air in - personally, I was fine with it because my roommate were trustworthy, but the shower could not be locked, so be prepared - there was so soap or dishsoap around which was quite inconvenient

    Property response:

Sorry about that Gina, I'm not there now but the only reason that mold starts existing is when you don't dry the shower and/ or the towels you probably didn't use as you were the only guest next to Chris who was drying the shower every day. If you found fingernails in the bed you probably took a bed that was already being used. There is one rat in the garden left. I thought it took off after I caught the other 2 so thanks for letting me know. You don't seem to realize how much work it is to get rid of mold so I will put you on my blacklist. Good luck in another place.

I stayed 6 nights at this hostel, and unfortunately, it was one of my worst experiences on Booking. The host was unfriendly and acted in a strange, controlling manner. He constantly monitored guests' water usage, claiming it was to protect the wooden floors and save money-but despite this, the hostel was not clean. Beds were not changed between guests, and some arrived to find dirty sheets still in place. Several listed amenities were either missing or not usable. Guests were expected to dry their hands and even the wet wooden floor with used towels. Privacy was also a serious issue. The host entered the dormitory at random times without warning and kept track of how often people showered or moved around. Conversations with him often felt tense and confrontational. Worse, I noticed rats near the dormitory room, which is completely unacceptable in any accommodation.

    Property response:

Hello Youssef, you can hide your name as much as you want but I know this is you. You acted so friendly and civilized but I knew something was wrong with you. Although you agreed that drying the shower cabin after use would prevent mold and lime scale, you left the shower soaking wet, every single day. Although I didn't argue about that and dried after you every time, I urgently asked your attention when you were also hanging out your wet clothes and the water that was covering the tiles of the bathroom was penetrating the parquet floor. I will take care of it you said walking in and out that water with your slippers spreading it further over the parquet floor. I explained about the damage of insects that will eat this floor when it's wet enough and showed you the cracks of a previous similar event. You said you understood but kept leaving everything wet, throwing plastic packages in the compost, enough for me to keep my silence and simply wait for your last day. Now this day has finally come and now you even tell me to be unfriendly and controlling. I can imagine that the hostel was not clean if you didn't wipe the floor like we agreed on. But what beds should be changed if all the beds except one after Jaime left, were already made and you took a double bed for yourself, without having to pay double, and were the only one there . Leaving all other single beds available for the other 2 guests that came later? Why didn't you tell me about "several listed amenities that were either missing or not usable"? If privacy is a serious issue for you, why did you book me? Because you pay 5x less than the second lowest price? What's wrong with the host entering a shared dormitory at random times? I assume that you will not return but if you do, you will surely be refused. This is why I keep demanding answers to my 10 questions to make sure that we understand each other and still this kind of situation may occur.

The hostel owner sent some strange, unclear questions that had ended up in my email spam folder. My reservation was confirmed and was never canceled, even though the owner had known for several weeks before my arrival that I wouldn’t be allowed into the hostel—simply because I hadn’t responded to those mysterious questions. And that’s exactly what happened: I arrived, but no one was there. The phone number doesn't work, and no one replies to emails. No one showed up for 6 hours, and I was left on the street. The next day, I received a message from the owner saying that the money would not be refunded, as he had supposedly suffered losses due to other guests. According to him, I should be happy, because this would be a cheap life lesson. Frank, with this move you’ve seriously messed with your karma. And those €45 you kept will be nothing compared to the losses that are yet to come. ✌️

    Property response:

This is one of the reasons I didn't refund you Valts. Unfortunately the majority of people who book me want the lowest price of the Netherlands without living up to my conditions for that. They don't read my description, nor the fine print, never answer the questions meant to avoid damage to my property finding their way without any staff being around and after all my effort to remind them at least 3x of my conditions, they blame me for not being there calling me a scam giving me a bad review on top. If you eventually find the information I sent and the questions that are needed to check your understanding of these conditions and see that you never found my reminders before your time of arrival, you will loose your payment like indicated in my description, fine print and every message I sent you. Still you can apologize and ask for a refund and I will have no problem with that if you want to take this effort. But not after having to argue with you about my conditions that don't fit you and already having to report you as a no show. That would mean I would have to call Booking.com, not only making costs but also taking time and effort . Your reservation was confirmed and was never canceled because I cannot cancel your booking if you didn't book with me directly but with Booking.com. Unless I want to refuse you as a person, not because you will certainly cause the damage and work for me, that my information and questions were meant to avoid. Requesting to cancel a booking would mean that I would have to pay for the costs of another place which would be at least 5x my price. The phone number doesn't work because this price doesn't include someone at the phone 24/7 and because many people want to simply call me so I can help them with being "self-sufficient" All the contact needs to be in writing so we can always look back if we forget anything. As most guests eventually cancel in time after all my effort reminding them and explaining my conditions, the few guests that even after the date of arrival keep giving me extra work are not being refunded and in that way, kind of making up for the "supposedly suffered losses due to other guests" as you call it. I hope this makes things clearer than all the ways I am already trying to be clear. If you want a place shared with like-minded self-sufficient fellow guests that keep everything in the same place and state enjoying the lowest price of the Netherlands, book me. If you want others to take care of you, book a hotel.

Good option if your goal is cheap travel, you are clean, friendly and like to meet new people. Theres a kitchen and a cooler. You can use free bikes. Theres a lot of good restaurants around and great Computer museum. If you getting along and like sports you can get a free martial arts/ fitness training 👍

No too much, its all shared so not much privacy but im real ok with it.

I used the place as a hub for exploring Eindhoven and other nearby towns. Not only did the accommodation meet my expectations, but Frank made sure to provide some quality chat since I was the only guest at the time. Just be realistic with what you expect and keep in mind most places charge 30€/night in Eastern Europe, so getting a warm place to sleep in the Netherlands for 15€ comes without certain commodities.

    Property response:

People already getting used to traveling by themselves at your age, add additional value to the atmosphere here Marko. I hope next time will be crowdier for you.
