Very reasonably priced stay and well equipped room in a very old historical house.

I was only informed on the day of arrival that the 'private' bathroom was not en -suite to my room. As I was the only guest, it was however not a problem. The included breakfast comprised cereal, milk (ample) bread butter and jam...no cheese or eggs.

This was a central place to stay that allowed me to explore Dunedin and at the same time enjoy staying in a large old house in keeping with the area and history of Dunedin. Great breakfast, good facilities, novel bath/shower and great host.

A verry beautiful heritage house well renovated and restored.

The room temperature is not enough high during mid winter when we stayed in August .

electric blanket on bed, breakfast was good

The bathroom and bedroom were quite cold despite using the heater — only the bed stayed warm, thanks to the electric blanket. Partway through our stay, the older-style toilet flush stopped working properly (possibly due to toilet paper), which made it difficult to use. When we politely raised the issue, the host responded defensively, saying she had “hundreds of guests” and this had “never happened before,” and implied that we might have caused the problem and should resolve it ourselves. This led to a tense exchange, which was frustrating given we were simply trying to report a facility issue. That said, the host eventually agreed to help, and the toilet was fixed.

    Property response:

    God bless you.

Time restraints meant I couldn't have breakfast, but from what I saw the room was well stocked with everything needed for an excellent morning feed.

The bathroom was a little cold & echo-ey, but clean & tidy none the less.

We didn't venture much around the heritage building as we arrived late, spent a night and checked out the very next day. The room was really neat & warm with heater, bed has electric blanket and comfy, the continental breakfast included was a bonus. Very happy with our stay at Everest on High.

I'm a really light sleeper so I could hear the road noises at night. The bathroom and toilet across the hall is quite chilly during winter.

It was a great room, we've stayed before and they are lovely hosts.

Bathroom is a bit cold on the floor more floor mats would be good.

I don't eat a big breakfast so the supplies provided were perfect for me. Given the accommodation isn't purpose built I was very surprised and happy with how thoughtfully every need had been accommodated. The renovated parts of the house are beautiful and I'll be keen to see the house again when it has been completed. The location was also perfect, very close to where I needed to be.

Another lamp in the room would have been useful as it was quite dark, especially near the table.

I loved the authentic, atmospheric feeling of this historic house, which the owners are gradually restoring to its old splendour. The room is very big and comfortable (there is a heater and electric blankets), and it is possible to use the kitchen to wash the dishes. The bathroom is on the other side of the corridor, but as the owners sleep upstairs, it is still very private space, especially at night. Free parking in front of the house is very easy.

The bathroom is enormous and chilly, especially during the night. The old-fashioned bathtub, which I personally found charming, is very high and could be challenging to get into for people with some mobility problems.

Charming old house ! Comfortable bed with electric blanket. Room was lovely and cozy.. Cereal and bread/jam for breakfast were in the room. Simple but perfect for us. We were able to leave our luggage at the house while we explored Dunedin. We appreciated that!

I was surprised to find that the bathroom was not en suite. Initially I was concerned about that but it turned out not to be a problem at all. No one else was in that part of the house so it was indeed private! I would stay here again.
