We had a really lovely stay, the area felt very peaceful and safe. Accommodation was super clean and warm/cosy with amazing views. The location is ideal if you have a car (especially if you're planning to hit the slopes, as it's very close to Coronet Peak and less than a 10-minute drive to the town centre). The heated bathroom floors were also great! Overall, excellent value for money!

Only minor downsides were a couple of blown light bulbs and the bathroom lighting being a bit dim (it would be great if the mirror had a backlight). Also, the outdoor stairs near entrance / gate can get a bit slippery during frosty mornings (which is to be expected in Queenstown winters) so just something to be mindful of.

    Property response:

Hi Coleen, Thank you for staying with us, we really appreciate it. Apologies that there was a couple of blown lightbulbs, that's on us for forgetting to check whilst preparing your stay, however If you had let us know we could've replaced them straight away. Thanks also for the feedback regarding the outside steps. We do have anti-slip bright yellow nosing on each step and anti-slip tread in the middle of each step also, but we do appreciate the feedback and will look into this area for future improvement. Thanks again and we wish you all the best.

Amazing cozy little place with great view, owner of the property was super friendly and helpful , everything was spotless. Has 2 cute dogs but sadly didn't get to play with them. Very quite and peaceful neighbourhood

With the place being very peaceful and quite it's to be expected that it's a little away from town (10 minute drive)

Location and under floor heating in the bathroom

No clear paved access to the room and walking on the sodden grass resulted in mud all over our shoes. The property is not a hotel and would be more at home on AirBnB. The room wasn't cleaned daily and we had to sort the rubbish out prior to leaving.

    Property response:

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your recent stay. We sincerely apologize that you found certain aspects of our property unsatisfactory. Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather, so the wet and muddy grass is beyond our influence. We typically find that guests manage quite well using the doormats as well as the designated shoe rack to dry their footwear. It’s a simple step that makes a big difference for everyone’s comfort and the upkeep of the space. Usually it’s common courtesy for guests to remove their shoes at the door to help keep our carpets clean instead of traipsing dirt throughout. It’s a little disappointing when our hospitality isn't met with a little consideration for our home. 😔 Just to clarify, we do not position ourselves as a hotel; the accommodation that we offer is the private lower level of our home in a residential neighborhood. This is outlined in detail on the listing. If you’re wanting a traditional hotel experience that offers daily room cleaning and a turn down service you’ll find Booking.com offers a myriad of hotel options that might be more suited to your needs. These can be selected by choosing the appropriate filters. Regarding the rubbish, we simply ask that guests utilize the recycling basket found outside the entrance and place their trash bags next to it upon checking out of the unit. We then take all recycling and rubbish up to the wheelie bins. We wish you the best in your future travels!

We had a wonderful 4-night stay at this cozy unit in Arthur’s Point! The place was warm, very clean, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. The peaceful surroundings and beautiful mountain views made it the perfect spot to relax after busy days exploring Queenstown. The location was ideal—just a short drive into town but tucked away enough to feel quiet and private. We especially loved the nearby walks and how close it was to the Shotover River. The host was friendly and responsive, making the whole experience easy and stress-free. Would definitely recommend this little gem to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay near Queenstown!

Loved everything about the Garden of Eden! The apartment was so comfortable, and the views were amazing! Perfect location, only a 15 minute max drive to town. This was the last location my partner and I stayed at before heading back to Australia, and it really made it hard to leave NZ! Thanks for the great stay Roy & Kristy!

Super clean and well-appointed accommodation with quality linens and a lovely bathroom fit out. Very quiet & warm. Stunning gorge views - we were fortunate to experience the autumn colours.

When another car was parked outside, getting out of the parking spot was a bit tricky (but manageable). The walk from the car to the accommodation was a bit slippery in the wet and more lighting would be helpful.

My wife and I had one of the best stays. Roy and Kristy are the most genuine and kind hearted people and we never regretted booking. Their response was speedy and information provided was detailed, it made everything seamless. We arrived on a rainy day and they prepared umbrellas for us, and then we were greeted by their dogs and cats every morning :D Excellent location - near centre of Queenstown, 5mins away from an onsen place, 40mins away from Gibbston and even a nearby short hike to Morningstar beach. The place was cozy and clean, and have one of the best morning views. bed was comfortable and it was nice having a good book to read at night. Totally recommend this place!

We loved that garden of Eden wasnt in the main busy part of town, where parking is a real hassle. Great spot with lovely view and a dedicated parking spot. We wanted a quiet vibe that still had access to everything and this spot was ideal. There are a few restaurants in the immediate area, which is super convenient if youre not feeling up to going into town. We had some of the best food we've ever had at a little pizza spot called Rakau. Best food around there. The owners of this property could not have been more lovely. They genuinely did everything they could to make the experience a great one!

Just be aware that if youd like to cab into town to do a day tour or something, youre looking at around 40NZD, one way, so take that into account. The guesthouse didnt have washcloths in the bathroom which was super annoying but its on me completely because I know they would have sorted that, had I got around to asking for some.

Location and amenities were very good.

Couldn’t give a higher rating, because of the following…..The owners weren’t going to be home, so they sent a message the day before our arrival with detailed instructions. What they couldn’t have known is that we were completely ‘off the grid’ on an overnight cruise in Doubtful Sound (in such a case, probably should send the message several days in advance?). So we didn’t see the instructions before our arrival, and were greeted by nothing more than confusion and two barking dogs (who did quite a bit of barking while we were there). Fortunately their pet sitter happened to arrive and helped us (Thanks, Ella!). We couldn’t get the promised Netflix guest account to work, but were finally able to log in using our own home account. We also had to kill about 6 large spiders inside the property while we were there. And then, on our last morning the electricity went out, which meant no lights or hot water! So, in summary still a good place to stay…. Once they ‘get the bugs out’…

    Property response:

Hi David, We are very sorry to hear that your experience at our accommodation wasn’t all positive. As you said yourself, we weren’t to know that you were in an area of limited service prior to arriving in Queenstown - however we have taken on board your suggestion of sending arrival instructions to our guests well in advance and will do that in future. We had just assumed that travellers use global roaming and therefore can access the internet easily. That was an oversight on our part and we do apologise. We are also in the process of installing clearer signage at the entrance which unfortunately was only going to be ready for collection after your stay. In our arrival instructions, we explain that our loud but friendly dogs do get excited when guests arrive and will tend to bark when people come and go from the property - as is their nature. We understand that some guests aren’t huge fans of animals, but our property information clearly states that we have pets (cats and dogs). It’s very concerning that you found 6 large spiders in your accomodation as it was cleaned thoroughly only the day before your arrival. I am a bit of an arachnophobe myself and don’t know how 6 large spiders could go unnoticed by me? As you can see our reviews from prior guests all show impeccable cleanliness as well as general excellent feedback. There are no venomous or very large spiders in New Zealand but nonetheless we make sure to provide Insect Spray for your use if required. We make sure to provide our guests with the personal mobile phone numbers of both my husband and I so that you can get in touch at anytime. We are also always available through the booking.com messaging app. We did also let you know that my father lives locally and is more than happy to come to the house and deal with any issues that may arise. Had you contacted either of us we would been able to easily fix your issue with the Netflix and address any other concerns that you may have had. As we had no communication from you during your stay, we could only assume that everything was fine. Finally, although we understand your frustration, the unplanned suburb power outage that affected you on your last day was completely out of our control. Kindest regards, Kristy and Roy
