How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The host says, 'leave the washing-up - we'll do it', but honestly, just rinsing a couple of mugs and a spoon or two is no big hassle. So maybe some washing-up liquid and a tea towel?

Verified reviewEverything is thoughtfully taken care of with great attention to detail, you’ll find everything you need, just like in your own home. The amenities are modern, clean, and well-maintained. The location is excellent: just 5 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the city center by car. If you’re using public transportation, there’s a bus stop just a one-minute walk away. Buses run roughly every hour, but with the city’s live tracking feature, it’s easy to plan ahead. There are also two nearby hiking trails that are perfect for staying active while enjoying stunning views of the river and snow on the mountain top. The host is incredibly helpful and welcoming, you’ll truly feel at home and might even wish you could stay longer!

Verified reviewThere was nothing to dislike! The premises was extremely well presented. Spotlessly clean, tidy, with really good quality bedding with a choice of pillows on a comfortable bed. The location, a very quiet area a short drive from Queenstown, was perfect for us. Thanks too to Warren for being friendly and attentive, an excellent host.

Verified reviewThe hosts was so helpful, nothing was to much. Even though I'm travelling alone I felt completely safe there. The bus stop is around the corner, beautiful walks if you wanted to fo that. Would highly recommend the place to my friends xx

Thank you for staying. I am disappointed with your comments and your ratings as they don't make any sense. You told us the suite was great, quiet and private and comfortable. Comparing your ratings with the previous 30 to 50 Reviews your 7.5 certainly don't stack up. Everything is within 10 minutes of the suite. I'm not sure how much closer you wanted to go to be near restaurants, shops, banks, supermarkets and airport etc, but I don't think 10 minutes is too far. Coffee machine, BBQ, Dishes collected and washed for you each day through the dish washer, heated towel rail for drying towels, a library of books to read, Nett Flicks and 5 other Film channels available free. What's not "Value for Money". The cat and the small dog don't go in to your room unless you invite them in. 98% of guests make positive comments and love the fact they are there if needed to remind them of their own situations. The two small animals are stated on our BookCom description and are now famous through Face Book around the world. They are a little older and inclined to sleep most of the day. They are locked in side every night so I'm not sure where you get the idea of "roaming" from. However, thank you for staying and I hope the rest of your trip was successful. Regards Warren

Verified reviewThe host Warren was wonderful and has so many stories to share and he definitely made the stay feel great. Place is clean, not a huge space but has everything needed for 2pax stay. Location is a short drive to city centre but really near to all the hypermarts which I love. The apartment is located in a remote and safe area without compromising overall accessibility. It's a little gem really. Would stay here anytime.
The bed was a tad too soft for me but I know it is subjective and didn't pose a huge problem for me overall..otherwise this apartment is perfect. 😉
