The sanctuary will forever stay in my heart. Hosts and staff are simply amazing! Good location and crossing the river was an adventure. I got to see turtle eggs that were laid and will be hatching in January. I loved all of it!!

I had a wonderful stay at this accommodation in Bucana Beach. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure I felt comfortable and well taken care of. I had a few minor issues during my trip, and they handled everything quickly and with a great attitude, which made a huge difference. The atmosphere was relaxed, the location was beautiful, and the service exceeded my expectations. I truly appreciate their hospitality and would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Bucana.

The only downfall was access to the hotel. It was over a very rickety hanging bridge, which I was very dubious about, but I must admit it had its charm and added to the whole experience of this local village and my stay at The Sanctuary. And Elmar was always there to carry your bags over the bridge for you.

If you want a nice relaxing beach holiday on a secluded beach, then The Sanctuary is the place to go. Gorgeous beach 5 mins walk from a local fishing village. The sanctuary only has 4 rooms and has a good family vibe. The owners, Dean and Jen treat you as one of the family and are very hospitable. The staff are absolutely fantastic. Shirley was always around to help out with anything you needed, or just to answer questions about village life or Filipino customs in general, or anything. Her husband Elmar was always available to drive you wherever you wanted to go in the tuk tuk ( for a small fee) Shirley’s brother Chris is the chef and makes lovely food. They all made me feel so at home, and did all they could to make my stay memorable and special.

The room was just perfect, the owners are the most attentive and helpful hosts we’ve ever had and the location was beautiful as you’re a few steps away from the beach! We can’t wait to stay here again when we return!

Everything about the place is lovable, from the staff to the place itself. The staff were very accommodating and would even extend their best efforts to provide your needs, and the place was very clean and peaceful.

Dean's hospitality is remarkable, and the place is very inviting. It has a peaceful vibe, and the amenities are complete and new.. Dean and Christian were nice to lend us snorkeling gear and fins for our adventure. The food is also fantastic too. 🥰 We'll make sure to comeback again soon!! The overall stay in the Sanctuary is breathtaking and exceptional. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This place is amazing ! The owner is really nice, at night there are ambient lights everywhere, it's really cute, the equipment is the best we could have had in Palawan, and the beach is totally heavenly, come and taste paradise

This has to be the best beach suite in El Nido. Right on the beach, a really cool, covered decking area outside with hammock, chairs, and table. The beach is right there in front of this. The beach itself is about 2km long, gorgeous, palm lined, and peaceful. The food was superb and the owner and staff couldn't do enough for us. Great location for some jungle treks to stunning waterfalls and mountain climbs to 360-degree view deck. We can't wait to return.

It´s quite sad to say that but the beach wasn't clean at all, it was quite full of plastic and garbage. But to be honest this is a main problem in the whole Philippines at all not only in Bucana. That's a main problem from the government and maybe also the locals. I think they just don#t have the sense for that but as I say it's a main problem in the whole country.

I love this place, from the moment I went through the gate I felt that this place is something special. I didn't expected a to find a place like that. The owner gave me an upgrade which was really kind. I was the only guest for that time so I felt like a VIP. During this time I spend a lot with the owner Dean. And I wanna say a special thank to Dean for this amazing time. I had the possibility to spend the whole time with Dean and his friend Christoph (also lives at Bucana Beach). Because of Dean we had a private boot and went to Nacpan Beach for snorkeling and barbecue. Also a special thank you to Chris (the cook, the driver and men for everythingI for driving me everywhere and to Shirley, she guided me through this time. Through Shirley I had the possibility to give a free dance workshop in High school from Bucana. I get touched with the locals which was amazing. If you are looking for a place to find peace, this place is definitely one of the best place on earth. Thank you Dean, Shirley, Chris and his son and Christoph for this amazing time which will always be in my heart and I will never forget! I didn't thought that a vacation turn into making friends! the place is such a heaven. a great place to live when you want to getaway from crowd. the staff was really helpful and fast respond. the room is near to the beach and very clean. the food was so delicious! highly recommended to stay here!

The road from Barotuan to La Bucana is not paved, can be tricky if you are a beginner with the motorbike. You can also arrange transportation with the owner.

Wow!!! We came for two nights and we extended for two more nights. The place is right on the beach and has resort vibes. The staff is super friendly and cooked a delicious breakfast every day!
