Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere are A LOT of stairs. Whilst that's not something that can be changed, it was a struggle for me to get to the 3rd floor where my bunk was.
Check in was easy. We were allowed to store our luggage there for a few hours prior to checking in. I love the cinema theme. I love that each bunk has curtains for privacy. Breakfast was lovely too.

AustraliaI loved that they put on activities (eg movie nights/dinner) that you could opt into. They were a great way to meet new people. I also loved that you could store luggage (outside of check in & check out times) for free. The staff were nice and would answer any questions about the city and give recommendations. I was super impressed by the breakfast

United KingdomThe hairdryer in the bathroom was very old-fashioned and took a long time to dry your hair
I really liked that there were common areas to socialise: kitchen, living room and rooftop bar. I appreciated the free breakfast as not all hostels offer this. The bbq dinner on the rooftop was really nice too. I liked the two wooden shelves in the bunk bed to put your things. It was great that the key card opened the door to the room and also to your locker - no need to bring a padlock.

ItalyI rarely feel at home the moment I step into a hostel or hotel, but at Rivoli it happened right away. The common areas are lovely — clean, cozy, and beautifully designed. The staff is absolutely amazing, and the rooftop is a real highlight: perfect for unwinding after a day exploring the city, with all the main attractions just a short walk away. For its location, atmosphere, and warm hospitality, Rivoli will definitely be my first and only choice when I come back to Porto. Thank you so much — I truly felt at home!

FranceThis hostel is one the best I've been to. I really enjoyed the common areas (the rooftop bar is amazing). Everything was super clean, the kitchen well organized with snacks and drinks that hosts can enjoy at all time. The staff is really friendly and arranging. The beds are big and comfy and allow you some privacy with a curtain. I would definitely come back here for another stay at Porto !

AustraliaNo elevators and the rooms are up 4-6 sets of stairs. If someone checks out early, the housemaids can come in before 11am to make the beds and noisy talking which can be annoying in the morning.

United StatesBreakfast options were limited. Some eggs and yogurt would be nice additions to alll the high-carb foods, for example. Also, as an older guest (mid-60's) it would be great to be able to request a lower bunk.
A great staff who were very helpful and upbeat. The common areas were clean and comfortable and it was a lovely rooftop bar also.

GermanyBreakfast is included but all the options available were quite unhealthy (despite a basket with fruits) so I preferred to go and have breakfast outside - but that is my personal choice. Also keep in mind this is not a party hostel - which I like - but overall it had a total lack of social atmosphere. Bathrooms are mixed - which is not my favorite option but it was ok.
The hostel is clean and the beds comfortable you can close the curtain for more privacy and you got space to put things besides the bed. In my dorm it was quiet and good for sleeping. The staff is very nice and helpful. The location is unbeatable you can walk to tons of options for eating etc and to all interesting points of Porto city center (or take the Metro if you want to explore neighborhoods outside).

SingaporeNo lift!! Not so great if you have a suitcase or after a long Camino trek. I stayed both dormitory and twin bed room on level 2 and 3 respectively. Limited bathroom to share amongst all. Twin room has such a thin wall, you can hear all the talks , noises..And people walking. Get your own towel and toileraty.
Central , great common space and fully equipped clean kitchen. Great breakfast, there's even chocolate cake and fruits ..Oh and great coffee

Really good bunks that had curtains, a shelf, charging ports, ability to open the windows in the dorm. Good kitchen. Free fruits and tea. Balcony rooftop area that was open all night for phone calls/smoking without having to leave the building. Had some social events but it wasn’t overly social.
