“Wonderful stay - riad was immaculate, peaceful and welcoming”

  • Top Ourika Review score: 7

“Gites du Lac is really a homestay, a room in a family home. This is a long review because it is an unusual place and other reviews are minimal.   The owner is very hospitable. The food is excellent though you must order dinner in advance. Wifi was not good in the room, but ok in shared space. My bed was very hard, which I like. It is very quiet for sleeping. Owner speaks French. No fan, no air conditioner (not needed in October anyway). Public transport is by occasional grands taxi, 20 mins from Asni. The village: has basic shops and food stands. It feels very safe and welcoming (I'm a solo male) with many friendly people. Locals in the cafe will offer to guide you round the villages in Ourigane valley for day hikes for reasonable rates. As of October 2025, drought has affected the reservoir badly, so, sadly, you can't expect pleasant lakeside walks.”

“Great hosts (lovely couple) Even we arrived at late midnight, they helped us very friendly Lovely breakfast service by hosts, felt like at my parents' home :) so appreciated”

  • Riad Dar Dallah Review score: 10

“Really nice Riad, architecturally beautiful, great breakfast, friendliest staff and amazing rugs on the walls! The owner Patrick explained how the rugs were made and the artists’ stories behind their pieces - this Riad was a rug museum and has such interesting art all around it! Also loved soaking in the sun on the terrace!”

  • “Beautiful location and views, fabulous dar, exquisite decor throughout, lovely host and staff. The hike to the berber villages was really enjoyable, off the beaten track with a great guide and the unspoilt nature of the Ourika valley.”
