How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis was the perfect spot for our overnight stay to allow us to spend an afternoon cycling (lazily in an electric buggy!) around the gorgeous rice fields of Chishang. Less than 5 minutes from the centre of town by car (owner also offered free pickup if we had needed it) but completely quiet and secluded with an amazing view over the valley to the mountains opposite. The owner was very welcoming, kind and gracious. The room was comfortable with all amenities. The breakfast was outstanding! Several courses served and our request for vegetarian meals carefully noted. We thought we had finished and then a huge fruit platter arrived at the end! So much that we couldn't finish it all... take a box or bag with you for leftovers!! We were also very grateful for a restaurant recommendion for the evening. We thought we had already decided where to go, but Mr Zhen (through Google translate) told us about a place called 舒食男孩 (Shu Shi Nan Hai) also known as Shushi Boy. This place was OUTSTANDING!! I think we were lucky to get a table as it was very popular and they have two branches almost side by side on the same street. We cost the 500NTD "chefs choice" selection and received several delicious courses and dishes. Including a drink. Best dinner we had in our whole Taiwan trip - I've included some photos with the tin review. Thanks for the hospitality Mr Zhen, I wish we had stayed an extra night! All the best
All good

Verified reviewThis mini hotel is in a magical location overlooking the rice fields and mountains and is served by magical people. It was truly a pleasure waking to all of the butterflies, birds, and three (maybe it was 4) sweet dogs roaming around and the most diverse and intriguing breakfast.
Nothing

Verified reviewDo yourself a favour and spend some time here! Comfortable beds, best breakfast with some beautiful views. Host didn't speak English but absolutely no problem and was so hospitable with his time and knowledge.
Nothing myself or family didn't enjoy but a warning that it isn't right in the city centre so this might need to be factored in for some people.

Verified reviewMr Zhen and his family are simply the loveliest people you could hope to meet. Very kind and welcoming, they could teach anyone a thing or two about hospitality. The breakfast Mrs Zhen made was incredible. One of the best meals I've ever had anywhere. In our 4 weeks of travel in Taiwan and Japan this was hands down the best place.
Don't be silly, this is not possible.

Verified reviewUpon arrival, the owner was kind enough to pick us up and drive us to the accommodation. We were given a free room upgrade and the room we got was spacious, clean and with a beautiful view of the rice fields. Since we didn’t have a car he insisted he drives us to and from the accommodation whenever we needed to go to the city. Our favorite part of our stay was definitely breakfast! We got to try so many new things and it was all fresh, diverse and very tasty. We really enjoyed our stay and the owner was very hospitable and friendly. We can highly recommend staying here!

Verified reviewIkegami Dapo Inn was one of our favourite stays in Taiwan. We chose this B&B as our second stop in a three day bike tour from Hualien to Taitung. It exceeded our expectations. The location (view) was absolutely stunning, the owner was very kind and welcoming and the room was spacious, comfortable and private. Breakfast was fantastic and we loved having the dogs around. The owner even invited us for a cup of tea in the evening, together with his son and daughter-in-law. We hope to return one day, because this was a slice of paradise in Taiwan.

Verified reviewWe loved everything, the location, the room and the breakfast. But above all, how nice the owner treated us. As the B&B is outside of the town, he offered us rides to and from the village. As our eSIM didn’t include telephone calls, we communicated via the Booking website and it worked perfectly.
The WIFI didn’t work which may have been an after effect of the recent hurricane

Verified reviewOwner was very nice. We came in after check out due to multiple road closures along the East Coast of Taiwan and feel bad that we inconvenienced him, but he was very gracious and welcoming despite the inconveinence. Property was beautiful, room was so comfortable, breakfast was delicious.
Nothing comes to mind!

Verified reviewThe family who run this B&B were so friendly and nice. Especially the mister who gave us many recommendations for sites to visit. The room was much larger than advertised, maybe 165sq feet? not 65. Location overlooking the rice fields is nice and quiet and the property is very cute with just a little bit of kitsch. Overwhelming, though, the breakfast that comes with the booking is amazing! We booked an extra night just so we could eat breakfast there again! Would recommend and hope to return.
There were some bugs in the room… mostly the centipedes or millipedes (I don’t know which) that I didn’t like.

Verified reviewFantastic scenery, this bed and breakfast has a view of all the surrounding areas and mountains, which is absolutely gorgeous. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect. They helped us get to and from the train station/city center many times, washed and dried out clothes, and put tons of attention to details. The breakfast is just phenomenal and worth your stay on it own. The presentation and taste is out of this world. We used this B&B as a base to go to Jiaming lake (stayed before and after) and took a day to rent bicycles and explore the surrounding area. This may have been our favorite part of the 2-week Taiwan itinerary!

Verified reviewWe absolutely loved our stay at this property. The beautiful view of the mountains and the Chishang town makes this property special. The room and bathroom are clean. Comfortable bed and pillows. The Taiwanese breakfast is amazingly delish. The owner and his wife are lovely and very kind. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Chishang.
Nothing. It’s 10/10.
