Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI don't think I saw a staff member during my time there, which is fine except I usually like to ask for recommendations on where to eat in the area. Definitely a super small issue though since you can also just walk around and find somewhere that's open.
Location was good, really close to the train station and bike rental shops. Late check-in is super easy and they provide detailed instructions and a video to help. The common area and rooms are on the small side, but the decor is nice. Really good value for a place to stay for a night as a base to go biking. The rice fields were absolutely gorgeous in the morning.

SingaporeIf you are staying on the top bunk, you may need to be careful as it is rather high up.
The location was amazing, and it was just near the train station. There were also convenience stores just beside the hostel, including breakfast areas. Just this alone is a huge point to visit. I also find that there is plenty of space within the hostel including at the common washing / toilet areas. Self check in is helpful as it minimises the trouble but you do need to check in by 6pm. As a cyclist, I appreciate that there is also space outside the hostel to park my bike.

United KingdomThere is music playing in the public spaces from about 8.30am until 9pm - you can hear it in the bedroom and it's about four songs on repeat so can get annoying!
Great location a couple of minutes' walk from the train station. Very friendly staff helped me book a taxi. Bathroom and bedroom were both super clean.

CanadaThe windowless room was dark and crowded by the bed, a room with a window would have been worth the extra money.
Location was very useful, just around the corner from the train station. Bikes were for hire inexpensively [100NTD] if you want an early start and staff haven't arrived simply slip the money into the slot on the desk.

Singaporeit’s a small ming shu so no lifts. a bit challenging for travellers with big luggage like hubby and i. hubby had to help me bring my luggage up and down 2 levels
very near to train station so it’s very convenient. chi shang is a small village so the area near the hotel is the town/central area. can find decent food around there but must be before 2.30pm for lunch and 8-9pm for dinner. passed meal times then you settled for family mart of 7-11. quite a few around there.

SingaporeThere were no windows in my room. I like having a space to do some work so this is just a personal preference, but I found the hang out area on the ground floor a little small.
I also stayed at another place in Chishang after this (which I preferred), but this one is super close to the station - probably the nearest. It's right on the main road. The rooms were also clean (although the one I was in had no windows, so felt slightly drab). Staff was not really around a lot of the times so sometimes it was a little difficult asking for help, but I had no issues communicating with them on Booking messaging. I left my luggage here and came back for it a few days later.

MalaysiaThere was no lift available, and the super narrow stairs were very challenging for us with large luggages all the way up to second floor. we were forced to squeeze our bodies with the luggages hardly not hitting our legs. The lights were with motion sensor at night and it was very dark. Please take note of the room size and available moving spaces almost = 0 when you open a luggage on the floor.
The property is located very close to the train station which is 1 minute away. The cleanliness is tip-top, with free use of washing machine and dryer. Bumped into the staff when we went back room to get changed, she was super friendly and very forthcoming in giving recommendations on food and activities.

ItalyNo staff upon arrival and when checking out. I had to pay cash which was not mentioned in the booking. I had to withdraw money and go back to the hotel to put money in a box. The room is a bit overpriced and I expected to have a private bathroom and shower.
Perfect location as the hotel is super close to the Chi Shan train station. Clean and well equipped.

AustraliaSome of the guests were very noisy during the stay. But still manageable.
People are so warm and helpful. The Brown boulevard was breathtaking. The food was very enjoyable and good value. Had two amazing massages on the same street opposite the police station. Everything was within walking distance. I highly recommend the foods Fuyuan stinky tofu a bit hard to find and the dumplings and vegetables diagonally opposite from the local market to your right when facing the market. I’ve posted the owner/cooks face. Soft and chewy dumplings and vegetables so fresh. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.

United KingdomThere are no blackout curtains in the male dormitory and the windows face directly onto the street - there is a streetlight shining directly into the room. I feel like this could be made much better quite easily by installing blinds or heavy curtains to block out the light and noise.
Thee shower facilities are good, the location is great and there was a decent atmosphere in the main shared space.
