Bed was not comfortable and small. A lot of noise whether from other guests at night or cleaners in the morning, there was shouting all through the corridor late into the night and very early in the morning- put a sour note on an otherwise good stay.

Good location easy walk to market, beach, station. Good food options around. Hot shower. Spacious room. Good value for money. Very clean.

There was quite a lot of mould in the bathroom and on the curtains; and the windows were filthy (on the inside, not too fussed about the outside). The walls were very scuffed and could do with a lick of paint. The check in process was very difficult as there was no sign on the property and it's a residential building. The sign on the door was written in Mandarin which I cannot understand. Luckily the door was open and one of the neighbours helped me call the owner (it would have cost me a lot to do this from a UK mobile). They did not accept card so I had to go to the ATM, although it wasn't far away. There was a kettle but no mugs so I couldn't make tea.

The bed was large and comfortable. The host provided bottled water and toothbrushes (I didn't need one but thought it was a nice touch). The location was great, very close to bars and restaurants and not too far from the night market and the coast. The air con and WiFi both worked well. There was a balcony but I couldn't manage to open the door so wasn't able to use it. It was also very good value for a private room and bathroom. Plenty of clean towels were provided.

I booked Sara’s House for 2 nights and received confirmation for an early check-in from the host. When I arrived, no one was there. I waited over an hour with no response, then only got a message from the owner long after the agreed time. I had to leave and find another place to stay at my own expense because the host failed to show up. When I reported this to Booking.com, the host lied to customer support, claiming I arrived before the official check-in time, which is completely false. Despite this, Booking.com took the host’s side and refused a refund. I lost money for a stay that never happened. Very disappointing handling by both the host and Booking.com

Accuracy of the listing. When I booked it, it was mentioned as 'parking available', and when we arrived yes, there were parking spaces, however only 2 spaces for at least 9 rooms in the property, and they were not available at that time. My concern was that this fact was not mentioned, that the chance getting parking (2 out of 9) is very slim. This was getting worse as the on-street parking across the areas are always full (being the property is near city centre). As these two factors (listing accuracy and parking spaces) are my first priorities in selecting the property, this is why my rating was low. If these are not priorities for you, then it will be fine. The next issue was that we were put in the highest level of the property, and it was summer at that time. Although the room had Air Condition, it was too high to reach us, so that by the time we left the next morning, it was still too hot for us. However, I would not say this as a real negative point. I think it's down to your luck (which room you will get) and the time of the year.

I will only rate a property when it's way beyond expectation or way below expectation. Unfortunately, this is the 2nd case. I have the following priorities when booking a property (from top to bottom priority): Accuracy of listing, Parking, Location, Air Condition or Heater, Room/property cleanliness, Ensuite/Shared Bathroom and cleanliness, Bed comfortability. So, please read this comment based on those prioritizations. I like the Location (15 mins walk to the night market) and Cleanliness of the room. Negative points in Accuracy of listing and Parking (see 'What didn't you like'). Others are fine by me.
