What a great like gem! The place was a copy of Scandinavia, with the furniture and general minimalistic look. Very comfortable beds and the bedlinen was to die for. Super friendly host that even balanced the Nordic style og letting you stay alone. Its a residencial area with some B&Bs, good coffee spots around the corner. Parking available - everything was perfect.

My wife and I stayed here for five nights. Although the main attractions of the Taroko Gorge were closed, we chose to explore the city of Hualien and discovered many charming spots. The hosts were incredibly kind, and we enjoyed our evening conversations with them in the kitchen. They provided us with excellent recommendations for things to do in Hualien, including lovely restaurants, scenic walking trails, and immersive cultural tours that dive into localities. We especially loved exploring the beautiful east coast and relaxing in the nearby hot springs. The hosts were also extremely helpful in preparing us for the approaching super typhoon, providing valuable information and guidance. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

Beautiful hotel run by a lovely, warm couple. Everything was clean and rooms were well supplied. great location, and hosts offered great recommendations for local food during our stay there.

Even though this is positioned as a bed and breakfast, they were not serving food while we stayed there. However, they did let us use the kitchen, which was very helpful.

Such a beautifully designed space that felt so cozy and inviting to return to each day. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean. The owners were kind and helpful whenever we had question on what to do or where to go.

No breakfast ( I don't know if I missed the option on booking ? ) Only one fridge at the ground floor , which mean you need to get down to the 1st floor if you bought stuff that needs to stay in the fridge , can be a bit annoying when you are used to hotels with mini fridge in each room . The location is not great, you need to take a bus to get to the city center, and it's between 30-40 min walk or 25-30 min by bus because they are not frequent at all... And we love to walk but after a long day hiking when you just want to grab something to eat it can be pretty exhausting. Around 10 to 11 pm the toilet or something started to do some weird noise , like water noise , squeaky noises. Never figured out where that came from but it would wake us up sometime after midnight. So weird.

From the picture I thought it would be a townhouse , it's not, you have multiple room in the building, and you get one of those. It is very new so it feels very good to use the facilities. The beds are western style which was a big + for me (meaning they are not as hard as the typical Asian ones ) It was VERY quiet except for one thing I will describe in the "didn't like" section.

The scandi design is beautiful. The owners put a lot of thought and care to design the home so it was comfortable and beautiful; we thought we stepped into a European home in the middle of Hualien. The bed was super comfortable and bedsheets were extremely soft. Very spacious and clean property with a lift so you don’t have to carry the luggage up and down the stairs. The owners gave great recommendations for places to eat in the area too!

Hygge Kro is a Bed and Breakfast where the hosts stay at the same property. They are both very warm and generous people who are happy to give advice on questions regarding Hualien. They have been helpful to us with recommendations, particularly what the locals like at Hualien. Location - walking distance 10 mins from Hualien train station (which should be the main method of arriving to Hualien for most travellers; we relied to taxi to get around Hualien and had a private hire taxi for Taroko. Comfort - the room we had was very comfortable and spacious. The space was clean and amenities provided included facial mask which was a nice touch. The finishing is very modern yet homely. There is a lift to access higher floors. Bed was very comfortable especially a long day's hike at Taroko Host - It would be helpful to ask questions ahead of time as he is very obliging with suggestions and recommendations.

The place is close to the train & bus station, thus perfectly located as starting point for our day trips. The house is a little gem in Hualien. It‘s very authentic Scandinavian interior, very clean, comfortable beds, we felt here very much at home :) The owners are very nice and equipped the room with all the things you need … and more. Our favourite accomodation in Taiwan so far, thank you for having us!

Lovely hosts that went above and beyond to make sure we have a good time in Hualien! Many recommendations what places to visit and where to eat, beautiful house and room, authentic scandinavian design with lots of attention to detail, big room, comfy bed, super clean and tidy,... We didn't want to leave!

The property is beautifully designed, well maintained and tastefully furnished. It feels like a retreat as soon as you enter. The stay is worth every penny spent - it is decadent, lovely personal touches from the owner in your room, the bed is comfortable, the bathroom is wonderful.
