The first room we were given was very small with a bathroom you couldn’t turn around in. We asked to be moved and were accommodated. This room might be ok for a single traveler but not a couple. There is no room service at this hotel.

The location was perfect for our sightseeing plans. It was easy to get a cab at the hotel. There was a $45 food/beverage credit every day. The food was very good at the restaurant.

The property was fine, however we found one member of the staff on duty Sunday morning, 10/19, to be unhelpful and unprofessional as she responded curtly when asked about there being no luggage storage for the day because (apparently) a bellhop had not reported to work that day. She was snippy and uppity and acted as though we shouldn’t even be asking for services. She shouldn’t be in a career of hospitality.

At 8:30 AM on Sunday I asked for a 12:15 late check out. Patrice told me she had already given too many and could not accommodate me. She was not pleasant about this at all. I believe I should have been accommodated

Bar and lounge areas actually small and limited, and no restaurant although meals were available

Location close to Times Square and history and authenticity, and the Dorothy Parker quotes on room doors

Noisy aircon. Comfortable room, but not really big enough as we had large suitcases, having come over on QM2 liner. Cleaning could have been more thorough. At weekend, front desk proclaimed they ‘didn’t do concierge’ so couldn’t help with reservations or even recommendations. Except Deina who was very friendly and helpful.

Well placed, easy to get a cab or public transport. Generally friendly staff. We were the only non American guests. Good bar and food service, nice breakfasts, but a great local diner next door also. Grand Art Deco styling. Nice almost family feeling to hotel.

Front desk wanted to charge $1 each for a postcard stamp--this is ridiculous at this level of hotel.

The meals and cocktails and staff were great; true to New York in general, food/beverages were very expensive. The historic nature of the hotel is wonderful, and the menus contain many interesting footnotes about the property!

Of course, being in NYC, the room was smaller than I would have liked.

For us, the location was perfect -- safe, near many good restaurants and other places we wanted to visit. We love the history of the Algonquin, and even though the hotel has been renovated, they have tried to maintain its importance in New York's literary history.

Rooms were small. Not much that can be done, I’m sure. Loved the $45/day credit although didn’t really get to use it and it pales in comparison to cost of a Merlot glass of wine ($24 per glass).

Would have liked to have seen a coffee machine in the room as there is no room service. I left early morning and no coffee was available in the lobby as the macine was broken and the urn would not be filled until after I left. Unfortunately when I got home I noticed on the hotel invoice that I was charged for two nights rather than the one night I stayed. A clerical error I’m sure but still it’s rather inconvenient having to follow up on such a matter.

The history of course. I found the atmosphere to be very warm and cosy.

I didn’t like that there was no in room dining, the prices for breakfast were outrageous (even for NYC standards. I also thought the room was a bit cramped and while we had a window, it faced a brick wall so there was very little natural light

I liked the history of the hotel. It was clean and beautiful.

We didn’t like the $30 a day debit added to our bill which had to be used as a credit in the hotel - bar or breakfast.

We liked the beautiful lobby with the coffee station, the decor of the hotel and much of the staff were fantastic! Of course we also loved the house cat.

We had nice experience at the bar, with light dinner and drinks, but when we ordered a drink after diner and went to sit at a table… we we told no…. “ it’s a different income stream” you can not bring a drink from the bar and sit here;” so we moved to a different area, and were told the same thing, so we moved to the front of the hotel, the noisiest area (we wanted to avoid), but there, we were told they understood our predicament and invited us to sit. After finishing our glass of wine, we got in the elevator to go to our room. Another couple on the elevator had drinks in their hands, and said to us… we were told to rake them to our rooms , this is an idea I think you should work on need to be improved.

convenience to theatre and Grand Central Sration. And small, nice, hotel
